Content wise this is basically one of the best automotive channels out there. The problem is the TH-cam algorithm doesn’t favor highly technical projects like this that take time for one person to create. TH-cam runs off of pushing content with quantity over quality. My thought would be that just be consistent in making videos, creating organized titles, and one day when you are featured on huge channels like hoonigan, smoking tire, gears and gasoline, etc it will send tons of traffic to your channel. If it’s setup so that people can quickly get an idea of what y’all do, subscribers will pour in. I say document your work, but don’t worry about numbers. When the car is done, it will speak for itself and people will be subscribing like crazy. Been following since you put the carbon roof on the Z and no doubt this is one of the highest quality channels out there
Don't blame the algorithm. I've been seeing the videos in my feed, but I can only watch but so much "here's how you lay carbon fiber.". It's old, man. I peep in every once in a while and watch 30 seconds and get tired and click out. Eventually the car will be finished, i'll see it, and more than likely unsubscribe. Not being a dick head about it, the guy's obviously skilled. It's just not very entertaining.
@@Wmoore1 I appreciate the honesty here but out of curiosity what type of content keeps you hooked. Genuinely curious, your input helps us understand what would be best for viewers as time progresses past certain builds.
@@StreetBandito It all boils down to personal preference, for me. I was hooked on the car because I appreciate all the labor and attention to detail and it's a visually striking car. Little late to the party, but figure I'd share an idea for content. First up, gotta say that what you have is great. As far as input, I would really like to see a few episodes where you accept composite project ideas from your viewers and discuss how you'd go about them. Anything with drawings, models or actual examples would be great for education and can be a great platform to engage with your audience.
One of the tips I got in a composite tooling class was that you can use a can of compressed air upside down to blast the corner of the backing film, and the freezing combined with the air blast helps lift the backer.
Keep going into details on everything! It's so informative. You guys are doing really cool intricate things. You guys are awesome! Also where the hell is Greg?
I would love to see you guys get together and do some stuff with Rob Dahm's car. That would be amazing. A video of you guys just chatting about his car and the back and forth about ideas and such would be amazing. Nobody ever shows even an edited version of that kind of thing and then go from there. Custom tail and headlights. Custom body mods, carbon fibre parts.
hey, picked up a tip for channels and thought I should pass it along, don't put "part 1" or any other parts of a series in the title but put it in the tags and make sure they're all in a playlist in the correct order, most of the time with a series of videos the first part and the last part are really the only videos that get views, other than that I think just a little more fast-paced editing and some nice B roll beauty shots of the parts you make mixed in would be good cause they usually look amazing. I really appreciate the content guys keep up the good work
Will this bowl help my food digest faster? Asking for a friend... No but really this is some incredible craftsmanship skills to pull off a product like that with such simple and non-expensive tools/techniques. We all appreciate a good DIY and your explanation was marvelous!
So cool you guys are actually open to feedback. You're a force when it comes to composite fabrication, I think that could be a unique niche for you in the youtube car community. Love the content keep up the good work!
Story driven content. It makes it easier to follow the projects on the channel. It keeps us engaged. It makes it easier to follow what’s going on in the shop. If the vid is incoherent or your videos don’t some how link together people will not consistently follow 1. The set up What are you doing today ? What’s the problem to be solved? What’s the task needed to be done? 2. Action Basically the stuff you need to do to finish the task or solve the problem 3. The Result Did you finish? If so what was the result If not what was the issue when will you continue.
I'd like to see yall analyze the aero parts that were made once the 240 is on track, and if they worked as well as you intended or if yall are going to update them as you do more races
Duuuude, making those carbon parts, they looks so cool...This has been more inspire so look more carbon part making video, i just love to look these, getting some ideas etc...Thanks for sharing these with us
I don't know if you'll see this comment or not but I love your guys' content and you have some super unique builds! some of the most interesting on youtube(.) I love that you guys show the process but sometimes it can get kinda dry/ slow... and I think nowadays because people's attention spans are so short it's hard to be entertaining with that type of content. I think a streamlined vlog-style would be sick but then you'd have a second channel where you can do more raw edits showing the more detailed step by step stuff. I know running two channels would be challenging but I think it'll allow you to be more flexible with the content you make while also being entertaining. I think a channel that does a great job of making a detailed process entertaining is AMMO NYC, maybe you can take inspo from him?
I’ve been wanting to overlay some interior pieces with carbon but I really don’t care for a smooth glossy surface so I think the pre resin carbonfiber would be good 🤔 Thankyou for sharing!
Not sure if I missed a previous episode where you may have mentioned your vacuum setup. It looks like it’s hooked up to house air somehow. I’m used to working with a gast vacuum pump so this looks a little different and simple. If you wouldn’t mind covering it, I would appreciate it.
I want to do a couple of composite projects: Glassfiber headliner. (Classic mini with ultimately starlined headliner). Carbon fiber front splitter and read spoiler. Probably using expanding foam core
I think you have a good niche here with the technical aspects of composite work for tuner cars, and I think it works for everyone involved. You have a sponsor that I'm sure wants you to show everyday people like myself how we could use their products, you're obviously skilled at it and committed to learning even more, and viewers like myself like this style of content. I will say though that I don't need it to be a 100% instructional video, if you can give me a good understanding of the products and methods you're using giving quick mini highlights of the process that works for me, and then I'll know about it and if I want to know more I'll know what to search for. You kind of do that today but it can get quite long winded, keep it technical but just a little more concise would be my request. A lot of the specifics you could just reference source data in the information section. There are a lot of TH-cam channels for people slapping parts on cars and/or having shops do the work, but less channels really doing full DIY composite work - especially at your level of design, fit and finish.
really want to see strength comparison of different carbon parts, carbon fiber vs fiberglass, mix of cf outer layer with fiberglass interior, how many layers of cf do you really need, impact tests, bend tests, etc... and also some aero design theory and track setups would be cool to see
Just as a question: Why not leave one of the blue sides on until you get that piece all the way stuck down so you’re not touching the resin and can easily push the piece onto the bowl? Then peel of the blue on the back before the next piece.
Damn! When the content creator says your on OG, oh the feels 🥰 Loved this episode!! Its got me really wanting to give it a try. Question tho. As far as the mold goes, does it have to be a metal mold to hold up to the 310°? Say a fiberglass mold or something else easier to make?
I'm pretty sure fiberglass and carbon fiber can handle 310 fine. I think the temperature limit depends on the resin used. I think carbon fiber molds work great when making a carbon fiber part since the mold and part expand the same amount in the oven. I've seen plenty of fiberglass molds made for carbon fiber. Fiberglass cost less and appears to work fine in the videos I've seen. Easy Composites Ltd has lots of great videos on the topic. Throttle Stop Garage used fiberglass molds to make carbon fiber car parts. I don't think he uses an oven though. Matthieu Libeert also has videos of making carbon fiber parts. I'm sure you've seen lots of similar channels but the above are a few I've watched. So far, I've just watched videos of other people making carbon fiber parts. One of these days I'm going to try it myself.

Hi Banditos! Loving how REAL you guys are and how in-depth your explanations are, but since you're asking, some shorter cutscenes could make for a more energetic approach.
I see the Rob Dahm comment for a collaboration. I know Rob needs a custom hood for his quad rotor rx7 build. He did a rough steel cut up hood where he extended it by like 8" by wording 2 hoods together, but I'm sure a nice carbon hood would be 1,000,000x better!
Yeah, it's all the new resin systems that are available now since they realized not everyone has an autoclave or ones big enough for stuff like an airplane wing or windmill blade.
