Came for the turbofans - enjoyed the whole video. It's a really sad ending for the car, I can't even imagine how upset you should have felt. Anyway, I see that some time has passed now, I hope you're doing well :)
So… I was in the distant background during this project… and remember well you keeping me up with things (in particular the aluminium bit) … but never realised what a HUGE project this really was! Kinda blew me away a bit! And watching the footage of the aftermath of the smash, I have to admit (don’t tell anyone) that a wee tear of sadness and even grief, formed in my eye. I binge watched indeed and actually have learned quite a bit! A huge huge lot of work put into creating these videos too! Thank you , Kent!
So awesome to see all the work that was put into this and wow what a fantastic job editing, very well presented. Really appreciate you getting in touch and giving me the opportunity to salvage the hard to come by 4wd parts off this. Still have just about everything that wasn't damaged in my shed, wardrobe and hallway closet 😂. Shocks all survived surprisingly, rear diff and passenger axle was ok, engine sitting on a stand waiting to be fully built and go into one of this wee cars brethren 😁. Rest assured nothing will go to waste! Looking forward to future content, keep it up mate.
I appreciate that! Thanks for the amazing feedback! I'm so glad to hear! The gearbox and diff will be invaluable when you start cranking more power into yours! Sad for the ending but so happy it lives on! 😁😁😁
What thickness aluminum did you use for these? Also what size rivets to fasten everything together? I know this video is like a year old, but I'm trying to make some DIY turbofans myself!
I’ve so been looking to do something like this myself on my z4. So rad. Turbofans are pretty much non-existent without paying astronomical prices. I’m not into it for the functionality but the look. Can you tell us how you mounted it to the wheel? Have you had any issues with the balance of the wheel. I’d imagine that if it want made and installed perfectly then there would be vibration
Hey! They would look good on a Z4 - I mounted them by drilling and tapping the wheel nuts and bolting through the inner flange of the fan. I don't think it would work with BMW wheel bolts though. Probably the best would be to find some steel wheels and weld some fasteners to them. I think any way that's not centrelock will be a bit of a work around! Good luck with it!
This car has some potential. I'd say try swap out the headlights for a cooler colour a newer bulb. Slightly lower widened stock wheels. Love the turbo fans.
The construction of the turbofans is really cool, I want to do it on my 2001 Chevrolet Celta. I'm watching from Brazil

Those fans were alot more involved than I thought. Had no idea you could get countersunk rivets.. very handy to know!
Aviation thing been using them for years
That looked like a Really Great and Fun car! RIP Double Black. On to the next build!

You're too kind! It's pretty sad but there are plenty more to put the time into. Some wise man once said that there's no use crying over spilt milk 😁😂
@@freshfuel6609 can we get your DXF file? What size steels wheels are they fitted to?
That was a great story. Cheers from Canada!
The cool thing about these is that because they stick out, you can make an 18 inch cover over an ugly 14 inch steelie
Beautiful covers well worth the price!
I've been wanting to make my own fans for a while too. Yours turned out great! Any chance you'd share the files as a jumping off point?
This is seriously good watching
Thanks man! 😁
How is this channel only has 161 subs? These are some amazing quality videos!

The ending! I may have laughed at you driving it completely wrecked 😌
Those back wheels being dragged along...
that was such a good project ❤
What a rad wee series with a decent end result! (excluding the write off bit)
Thanks man! Your photos were a great touch - much appreciated!!
I'll be making some turbo fans for my front wheels now, and they'll be on 9" wide steelies with a polished lip
When i built my ute canopy an air rivet gun was a luxury i enjoyed
Oo yes, give the hands a bit of a rest! Add it to the list!
Came across this video while planning my own turbo fan build! They look really good. What thickness aluminium was used for yours? Thanks
