Excellent video. Lots of great tips.1000% agree with the biggest thing being practice. I've played this game a LOT but when first doing manual I sucked lol. Now it's totally second nature. We use our thumbs the same way. But I don't use that damn steer button, got rid of it the first chance I got 😆. I've had PB runs ruined cause my finger accidentally hit it and makes me drift the wrong way
Great tutorial, a lot of people need to learn from this. Also, I never knew about that method of rocket start, i always just did the traditional method of holding at 2.
I've been testing it as I've grinded levels but I get the same amount of points starting the RS at 3 vs starting it at 2, so I'll just keep doing it how I was doing it
When I played Mario Kart Tour for the first time, I was a little confused about how to turn the Kart (including Drift)... but I learned it myself and finally I can Drift. Until now, I still Drift😁👍
Really useful tips. I had a lot of trouble with the controls in the beginning. By playing a lot you will get a sense/feeling for the steering. Something I've had trouble with is sometimes my kart responds exactly the opposite direction I am drifting/steering. This often happens after gliding. Maybe bad finger position. I discovered that the side of the screen you're putting your finger decides where your kart will definitely go. This helped me to get those steerings after landings right.
Some of you guys may be shocked, but I DON'T use Manual Drift. Why?, because I use the steer mode with drift button, and I am more used to pressing the button to drift. I also turn on smart steering, because I struggle when I accidentally go off road, and lose my combo. The only time I turn off smart steering is in Luigi's Mansion, because it has the nearest gliding section among other courses which can save my combo unlike other courses. I don't even know why my rules are different from yours?
ngl i know how to turn my thumb into one side, but idk how i could turn into the other so i could only do drifts with only long turning moments instead of every part of the track

Same. Will have to try that out. I always just did my RS mindlessly, now I gotta try releasing it as close to "go" as I can
I always did it from 3😅
David Riedy it took me awhile to learn manual drift for me

I Like to use both my thumbs when drifting to tighten my drifts when I drift to wide.
Nice video! This will definitely help newbies I'm assuming! I think I've just gotten better at manual smart steering!
Great tips from the master!!! Level 50 wow!!! I am at 46... you always have like 15,000 ahead of me.
You are the only one who gave me true and full explanation !! Thank You!

It's not clear to me when you're lifting your thumb as you slide it during gameplay.
