- While it doesn't look all that different to the old Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 has finally launched in Australia and Paul Maric has taken it for a spin to see if it's any good.

2:22 Hey Paul, I'd really appreciate it if you could showcase the car's dimensions alongside its exterior visuals on the screen. It would be fantastic if you could also align the ground clearance with the highest kerb size, allowing viewers to gain a better perspective on the car's ground clearance. Thank you in advance!
The majority of kerbs would be no higher than 100-120mm .All suvs will clear that .Anything higher than that I don’t think you should be mounting the kerb lol
Would love a comparison between GLC, GV70, X3, Q5 and NX
I jus love that you have DB test in all videos. THANKs
Got one on order in Selenite Grey Metallic, didn't get the option pack as it was a longer wait for it to arrive. All going to plan it will be in our hands in 3 weeks.
Hi Paul don’t you have a podcast ? I haven’t been able to find it ? Btw long time subscriber keep up the great work.Your my go to for research on my new cars .Along with the 0-100 can you go back to doing the 1/4mile as well for select performance cars ?
I just bought mine GLC 300 2024 graphite grey metallic here in the US and I love it ! Perfect for Colorado weather.
Hi Paul, Great video! While running the test on the radar cruise control with lane centering, is it possible to stick another car driving in the left lane just in front of you in the adjoining lane with the radar active. This will test if the car thinks its too close to the car infront and randomly brakes this seems to happen on corners when the radar is active on a few cars i have driven.
Hey Paul. Great review although the weather wasn't right.
It's an amazing car in its class. Didn't like the big Piano Black and excessive chrome. Is the rear wheel steering option available in Australia or as usual we are robbed again in OZ?
Cheers!
Rear wheel steering is not available on Australian imports.
Hi Paul, great review of the car, however, I think I miss the gear design as I couldn't see in the video. If you could add that into the car's specification video that would be great as the new cars have different designs of gear pedals.
Hi Paul, great review, was planing to buy this GLC, then I saw the new Velar. Would be great that you can dona review on Range Rover Velar. I'm torn between this two.
SUV reviews should include a height measurement, ease of entry and exit, and something about off-road capability because those are the 3 reasons people buy SUV's.
Paul, when you do your suitcase test, would it be possible to also put the suitcase on its side? We recently hired a Volvo XC60 in teh UK and I was shocked by how shallow the luggage space is.
Hi Paul, Please add the speed test app link you mentioned in the video.
Hi Paul.. please remember to show the window roof also, thank you for the video
Hi Paul, could you please review the Kona 2023 model please? Thanks in advance
Did a test drive on this and the classic GLC 300.. Guess what I picked the Classic GLC just last week ...The shiny Piano black in the 2023 model has a glare under sunlight and doesn't feel that premium !
Piano black to Paul Maric is like oil pressure gauges to John Davis
Mercedes desperately needs a new head designer. Time to give their photocopier a break.
Thx for the horn test
Hi Paul hoping to get your update review of the Lexus RZ450e now that its on sale.
Hi Paul, can you please comment on “system suspended” during the road test in the rain. Also is it possible to do a side by side comparison between the glc300 & the rx450h. Thanks
IF I can help. System Suspended appears when the Cruise Control is active and you press the accelerator pedal. As soon as you release the pedal the message disappears
How is the reliability of this suv? Very nice video.
YOUR BIGGEST KENYAN FAN RIGHT HERE, 13/07/2023
One breakthrough - you actually now get a spare wheel ! Dealers had been crying out for one for years...
Hope these wheels are ok, apparently the ones on E are nightmares, hardly survive a pothole
I’m amazed that you turned of traction control off as in their is no difference in acceleration wet or dry when it’s on it’s the most noticeable difference compared any other comparable car when taking off at the lights on in the wet on a steep slope which leaves the competitors in a lliteral wake of water behind you
Price rises plus MB moving to fixed pricing in Australia means they're eye-wateringly more expensive than what they used to be not very long ago
But you are comparing the previous base model price with the new model which comes fully optioned. It seems that most Aussie buyers of previous models preferred to add many of the then optional extras that now come built-in standard on the new 2023 model. Hence the price rise.
It would be interesting to take the older 2022 base model price and add on the many extras available, as are now standard on the new model. I would estimate that this would show a relatively modest increase in price for the 2023 model.
Wait till one comes off lease. It will be a depreciation Armageddon. If it lasts that long. If it’s five years old and not scrapped that individual example should be good for another 200k kms
21:03 what app do you use
Hi Paul Changing driver mods looks dangerous?
As a golfer I would love to see a golf club/buggy fit added into the carge space of your test vehicles. Great test info nonetheless. Thanks
Any video on Velar or Grecale ?
Each 3dB is a doubling of noise. I have found the choice of tyres makes the largest difference in noise.
Please recommend some tyres for lower tyre noise
10% higher price 30% lower sales
I doubt it
50% breakdown chances.
@@karkybibeki doubt it
@@bonjovi1354these new motors are already developing rear main seal leaks
They don't care about sales anymore. They want higher profit margins. So they don't even care how much they sell as long as they make more profit on each sale. And because of this, they are also built very cheaply.
Even my $45k Toyota passes the lane 3 lane keep assist test and this $105k merc doesn’t..you’d think they could get that right.
Merc’s lane holding is always a bit weak in my own experience.
Nice truck!
Does it really matter if the rear windows don,'t fully boot down?
Beyond 90% of the populations budget.
Good thing… I wouldn’t be seen dead in this matchbox
Changan Hunter test please
These are going to be unicorns compared to the previous gen. One spec and very steep asking prices compared to the competition.
If BMW, Audi, Lexus & Volvo don't follow suit they're going to have all the market share.
That piano black centre console is a disaster. Also, why do they make the exterior larger but with the same interior space?
I just bought one.Waiting for Delivery silver colour with all the options
How did you find the purchasing experience (pre delivery)? Like did you the haggle less experience nice or something’s missing (I.e. value or unique deal structure)?
@@alanngli The dealership in Sydney Australia was great .The car salesman was great not pushy but pretty good. I looked at the car before it officially came out for sale. And straight away I wanted one
I looked at one of those to replace my Jeep, but unlike my 10 year old jeep they don't have ventilated seats or USB ports in the back??
Crazy that the Volvo v60 cross country has 1 inch more ground clearance than this suv!
I love that 3 pointed star pattern on the front grille ❤️
Nice.🎉
Hey Paul. Can you please do Hyundai new Kona review please. Thanks
He has a bright yellow one coming out soon. As seen in his raptor update video.
Do you know the timestamp? I couldn't find any. 😬
@@AvtarSingh-nh5fh 9:36 on yesterdays "It's Broken" raptor video.
Thank you for the spreadsheet with the road noise data. Off topic but it's interesting to see the Platinum Everest V6 Wagon is noisier than Ranger dual cab on coarse chip roads at 100 klm/hour.
Try to download a video to test drive the 2023 Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain
I bought brand new A200 Sedan last year for 65k USD, this GLC 300 is sold 110k USD in my country (Indonesia). If GLC 300 is sold 65k USD in my country i will buy it in hard cash tommorow morning. Benz is freaking expensive here.
has anyone been experiencing 48 volt battery suddenly failing or shutting off on these in Australia? It seems like many American-spec GLC have this problem
Dash cam? Fog lights?
Weird question .. is the centre screen off centre? Could be me but looks off?
Or meant to be like that?
4.06 .. think it’s angled towards driver?
The room for the backseat is surprisingly small for an SUV of this size - I would say much tighter than the BMW X3 and Audi Q5
With an available 600 N.m torque, you seemed underwhelmed - was it that bad?.
A comparison review between the GLC 300, X3 30i, NX350h and Q5 TFSi would be appreciated.
Nice - but imagine having a tyre problem back of Woop Woop, you could be there for a while
Have they stopped them scrubbing tyres and hopping on full lock?
Yep - I didn't notice any of that in this particular car.
@@CarExpertAus what dis they change to stop it occurring?
Yes this. my GLC250 sounds like a locked diff on the front when turning full lock
@@NRD80Y It's a new platform, so could be any number of things.
@CarExpertAus what app do you use to measure the 0-100 80-120 100-0
It seems BMW have the best self driving/self parking system compared to the others.
I looked at this one, but am buying a Lexus NX450h+ instead. Same price, but the Lexus PHEV means fuel consumption would average more like 3.5L/100km (or 0L/100km if driving within 80km range and then recharging at home). Compare that with 9L/100km for the GLC.
I would've compared a hybrid to a diesel. I think there's also a GLC phev so perhaps not entirely comparable apart from price.
You make it sound like charging at home is free
@@phiwanhlengethwa3874 I mean they probably have solar panels so charging in the daytime is pretty much free
@andyhoang8700 key word: probably
waiting for Hyundai Kona 2023 model's review.
No usb ports in the 2nd row?? That's pretty disappointing
Nice but the price. Setting the standard MB
what exterior colour is this?
Silver
Its alot of KW from such a small engine, a happy but short life ?
Benz have been selling that motor for a very long time, in various different vehicles that they offer.
This power output is not massive
BMW & Audi etc also been offering similar for many years
these cars are so far ahead of the competition its not even funny
😂😂🙂😂
A beautiful looking car, as delicious looking as a smooth double helping of rum and raisin ice cream.
Correction: these start at $47k US and with max upgrades about $62k. Not $70k.
Most pol with order one at $55-58k
On top of your figures, Australian buys are hugely penalised with the so-called Luxury Car Tax. Total taxes (GST, Stamp duty and LCT) add around $A22,000 (say $US 15,000) to the on-road purchase price in Australia.
And Genesis GV70
It's a beauty.Better than x3 and Audi
Not much engine choice. Though it may be possible to import other variants thru specialist import schemes thru MB etc . BMW imported a handful of 2022 6 GT Oilers last yr. These were last sold in Aust in mid 2020. All were private & not government ordered . So C'Mon MB Australia how bout another petrol, cheaper diesel , PHEV etc??
Download a video of the 2023 Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain
Hey Paul, Love the video as always. Wondering if you can do an updated detailed review of the Hyundai i30 2.0L Hatch. I know you did one 2 years ago, but just want to see if it’s still a good proposition in 2023 and want to see it tested with all your new performance testing you’ve added over the last 2 years.
I don’t think he would prioritise it in the absence of updates to that car. I’d say still use that video as a guide but at the end of the day go test drive it against whatever else you have shortlisted (i.e. Mazda 3/Corolla/Golf) and see what feels better to you irl.
Personally it feels a bit basic and last-gen compared to something like the Mazda that feels a class above once you have driven both. At least the i30 Sedan feels like a new gen Hyundai.
@@User-cb4jm True, and I’m sure he’s extremely busy with all the new additions to the market anyways. Thanks for the advice!

Wait what? 12k a month after taxes is a high salary.

Is This Car Reliable?
It's a Mercedes, so no
Try xc40 before buying it. Similar in size, about 30% cheaper in price for the fully loaded car.
XC60? XC40 is way smaller.
@@c3vznvolvo is same width, 26 cm shorter in length but 10 cm taller in height.
And most of that length is compromised in boot space not the 2nd-row legroom.
Good price gouging there
If it had a 3 litre plus 6 cylinder in it…. It would get my attention. Actually… 6 litre plus would be ideal!
😍
Cant believe anyone would take one of these over say a Santa Fe for half the price, similar features. At least the hyundais actually give you a full sized fkn spare tyre lmao. Also no cooled seats? Screw that. Paying for the badge
I loved the acknowledgement of the inspiration from HELP ME CARWOW
Deutsche Wert Arbeit 😊👌
Lol. Car manufacturers are increasingly pricing themselves OUT the market by not considering the current circumstances.
not a fan of the front at all.
why would anyone buy it over a BMW.. i am really confused. Is that because of the over designed interior and exterior? Guys, neither Audi nor Merc, no one is even close to BMW. Trust me, i have test driven all these fancy cars...
Just too expensive Paul, I’d be buying another Glb.
Video dropped just in time for my morning poo 😆👌🏻
😂😂😂
Same ahah, I feel like this is the perfect kind of video to start the morning with when you have some “spare time” and are scrolling through your subscriptions page.
Competing with Tesla Model Y as well.
Mercedes new fixed price policy is ridiculous
Yep ridiculous until you come across dealers that charge way over sticker
Fixed price isn’t unreasonable, it should’ve always been this way without the dealer markups to negotiate back down and the whole rigamarole process with grey areas everywhere. With fixed pricing I don’t feel like I’m battling the salesperson and having to put on a pokerface act, it actually makes buying a car an enjoyable process where you know the price off the bat and can simply focus on if the vehicle is right for you. If anything the only problem here is simply the actual pricing of this car, regardless of any other factors.
@@User-cb4jm Yea until you start adding endless options the fixed price looks pretty good.
I paused and stopped right when Paul, knock on the fake wooden material on the dash saying “it looks nice and expensive”. With all the respect, with its feedback sounds and traditional C series it doesn’t. Mercedes lost its reputation, interior of C and blow classes look bling bling but cheap, and be broken to parts in just 3-4 first years of ownership. Ofc its a Mer, a German car it should look expensive, but in fact it doesn’t in person and daily usage. It is far behind comparing to the Q5 or X3 German’s buddies.
Glc is also the worst in terms of reliability comparing to the other two German bros, especially the interior platics, knoobs, panoramic roof,… things are moving and sound very very annoying just after a few years.
I'm a BMW guy i have nothing against Mercedes and Audi but i will buy the BMW X3
Almost $120,000 drive away for a GLC300??? Hahahahaha
It's still hard to believe that there will be a lot of people willing to pay this ridiculous price for these medicore vehicles from Mercedes Benz.
Plus its a V4
Let em buy it in droves and take the depreciation hit, it just means in 5 years time I’ll have a nicely put together $35k car to consider in the used market.
@@simonliu2008V4 engine is very rare.
@@User-cb4jmshow me a five year old glc for $35 k.
Please please send me a link asap.
Late last year I was going to wait until this update model arrived before buying a GLC-300, that was until MB announced there would be no PHEV option coming.
I have to say we couldn't be happier with the 2022 GLC-300e we got, for daily commutes it pretty much runs off battery the entire time (about a 40km range on full electric).
I'm sure Mercedes did their market research but it is beyond be why they didn't offer the hybrid model with this update because the battery range is almost double that of the previous model, it is not a RHD issue because they are selling them in the UK.
190 kw 400 nm wow .Too much money for very little power .
its same as what X3 30i Msport offers.. and Audi Q5 45 TFSI has even lower torque. What do you mean ?

Man made leather with no option for the real stuff. Not even the availability of cloth/wool seats. I can only see sweaty bum crack juice as the currency for this model.
Judges build quality by opening and closing the doors and fiddling with some interior bits. Is this for real????
Nice car, but only for the rich people .
I mean it’s a Mercedes, this was their goal from the outset. Or just wait, and in 5 years you can own this car for $35k after being garaged and babysat for a few years, and it will still be a fantastic car to drive - just fully depreciated :)
