Hi Andrea, I just picked myself a All picked up a 2025 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 4MATIC, thanks to you and your wonderful introduction of the vehicle from Head to toe.
Really dislike the current German insistence on using the screen for HVAC controls. It's not more premium it's cheaper for them to put it behind a screen over using quality knobs and buttons!
Yes. It's a stupid design. HVAC and Sound should be regualr ROTARY knobs. I'm not interested in stuffing around in menus to adjust basic critical functions. That is the exact opposite of the ergonomics that Mercedes places such emphasis on from the late 60's thru the early 2000's.
Great review as always Andrea and Zak! I agree with Zak… the six cylinder models are the ones to go for but wow my god the prices!! I think they are 60% more now than what I paid for my 2013 X3 35i
I have had the 2023 GLC 300 now for almost 2 months. I was a little concerned how the touchscreen would work out as I am a physical button and knob guy. Once I got used to it is actually very easy to use. You can control pretty much everything from the steering wheel too. To me it is easy to differentiate between the 2022 and 2023. Great car! My wife and I love it.
I own this 2023 GLC since 2 weeks now, coming from a 2020 C43. 3 additions to this video from an owners pov: - My average combined consumption is around 8.0l/100km in comfort mode. - The off-road package is actually real and working, as opposed to most other SUV’s. Mercedes has huge army contracts here in Europe, and it’s where they get their knowledge from. - In terms of rims; I got the full AMG package model which came with 20” AMG rims as standard. I’m getting a lot of compliments on those, and it might just be the region you are ordering from.
For awhile, in the 80s, my parents drove a Mercedes-Benz 300SD Sonderklasse (a diesel W126 S-Class). I’ve always wanted a Mercedes (once close with a well used ‘03 SL55 AMG). I think that almost all of their designs have aged well (style/design-wise) over the decades. At least… better than most. And even though I can’t see a Benz in my driveway in the near future, I really appreciate them on the roads. Nothing really looks like a Mercedes-Benz. And this latest model is no different… which is a good thing. Thanks for the video.
Great review. I traded in my X3 for this GLC300 and couldn’t be happier. Both the exterior and interior feel like a much more luxurious alternative to BMW…and yes, more refined.
As a 2019 owner this isn't much different than mine just they put some more tech in new models. I am happy that I still can keep mine without feeling like I have missed anything about the car itself. Also higher ground clearance is better for me. TNX for REFINED video lol.
Wondering if there is any difference in driving and braking responsiveness/feedback/smoothness due to Hybrid system as I've experienced in other mild hybrid / PHEV vehicles, such as the new c-class.
Love your reviews and commentary. A separate question. In driving of Subarus, do you find any difference in manufacturing quality between US and Japanese built vehicles? Thank you lucky folks in BC.
Good review ! Thanks. But I think the looks is totally different from the previous generation, especially back side. Also the ride quality is improved considerably. Have any idea about reliability if comparing to other compact luxury cars ?
When I was shopping around between the SQ5 and the GLC 43 AMG, my vote was leaning more towards the GLC. The only thing which let me down, was that stupid transmission shifter on the stalk. This time around? They softened the front end, and not in a good way. I feel the previous gen/iteration was better looking, Sportier if you will, but sure that's all subjective. The X3 is better looking than "This" GLC.
WOW, did you see the front passenger seat move up when you flipped the release for the back seat to fold down! Now that is luxury! What other crossovers do that?
Another great "A to Z" review. I like this vehicle and how it drives/rides but cannot stand the lack of hard buttons for frequently used functions and, frankly, these screens look like the designers velcro'ed ipads onto the dashboard. If you want leather and heated rear seats, you have to pony up for pricey packages and the MSRP quickly climbs to above $70k - and that's before adding the Burmester. I'd have a hard time living with this I'm afraid. To each their own but I'm going to hold onto my XT6 for now (and that vehicle is far from perfect itself).
What I'm REALLY looking forward to is your GLE450e video and to ask in general how REFINED (lol) that ride is compared to this GLC, which you guys obviously are a fan of!
I just traded mine but note that my only complaint was the lack of room for our family. Should have bought a GLE. Servicing costs over the past five years were triple our Toyota. I guess that’s the cost of luxury!
My 2016 GLC300 is very firm ride ok for around town but not on trips - I drove for 2.5 hours and my legs were glad to get out of that car - that’s why I’m trying to get the most comfortable soft ridING SUV now -
I’m I GV70 owner, and I think the genesis looks better in and out, but really wanted to hear you objective perspective about how it feels and performs in your view. I don’t care about the badge, and compare with the GLC previous gen, the GV70 was just ahead all around. Is this new GLC close that gap? Is it better than the GV70 in your view? About the quick and radical changes Koreans do to their generic brands, it doesn’t looks like they will do the same with Genesis. The G70 and end GV80 (the oldest models) have received just minor styling and features updates so far.
I think the GV70 and GV80 look amazing from the outside but think the inside looks weird. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but to some it’s a deal breaker.
Great review! In addition to the 4 cars listed in the “For your Consideration” section, would you include the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 as comparable?
I agree 💯 regarding the comment about the wheel designs. They all seem so basic and not sporty. One area BMW nails. Also, I wished Mercedes would implement the Digital Key feature.
In 2012, I bought a 6 cylinder X3. Every week a different warning light went on. Traded it in before hitting the warranty limit. In 2022, bought the new C300. Zero complaints.
The GLC is too small. It would be nice if you could both review the 2024 GLE 53 and the new line of Mercedes Cabriolets .. I'm still really confused on that one. It looks like there's no longer an E-Class Cabriolet, instead for 2024 the "CLE Convertible."
They break down faster than you can put them back together after the warranty expires. Lexus is a much better vehicle for the price point and Reliability. Great review, btw.
As a current Mercedes owner, I am continually baffled by the low urgency that the dealer service network provides to customers. I’ve lived in two major metropolitan areas, and dealt with 4 dealers (pre and post pandemic) and the story is always the same. The care that I receive once I finally get into service is excellent, but it takes weeks to get into the dealership. Our Hondas, on the other hand, may not get a white glove “free espresso “ experience, but service appointments happen in just days. With new cars necessitating dealer service as the only option, they have to get a handle on this. Until I can see my 2016 serviced promptly, I wouldn’t consider another.
That's unfortunate, as my experience over the years has been the opposite. I've always been with the same dealer and the service experience has been topnotch - from appointments at my convenience to a loaner vehicle if desired.
Make no mistake: this beautiful interior benefits from the very nice "enhanced ambient lighting" option. Mercedes is known for delivering cars without it. I bought a "GLC 300e AMG-LINE" which should have been equipped with this option. Well the car was delivered without it and basically they said: "Bad luck Mr. customer: there's nothing we can do about it. It's due to a shortage of semi-conductors". If you don't believe me, ask your dealer: They have an internal memo explaining this problem. Of course: NO REFUNDS and NO “RETRO-FITTING”. I got a lawyer envolved and the offerd 1400 EUR to spend in their dealership. I refused so we will go to court. Sad but true story.
GLC stands for Green Lantern Core, because it takes superhuman training of willpower to keep it road worthy on a budget when out of warranty. Ours just rang up a $1,180 charge from Mercedes to replace a right rear electronic brake actuator motor that failed, when its a $50 part and doesn't even require disconnecting brake lines to install.
Skipping hybrid is turning out to be a mistake that only Toyota seems to be avoiding well. Infrastructure and customers are not ready for full electric. Why can't millionaire CEOs' get that through their heads? Present government in North America is ready for EV's but, who in their right mind listens to them?
Personally like the looks of the GLC but purchased the Lexus RX because of reliability. The Mercedes just don't last like they did before in my experience.
I'm a bit disappointed you didn't talk about any comparison to the Genesis GV70. The GV70 is in the top 3 of compact luxury SUV's in nearly all publications.
@@Motormouth... @Motormouthcanada I did watch the entire video. You two only had the GV70 for "your consideration" but didn't discuss any actual comparisons to the GLC. You only stated the GV70's price and horsepower numbers. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.

Unrepairable. Guess what, these tires are not available in the US . According to Continental , these are for the European market only. Comment from Mercedes, just put another make but same size on your AWD GLC. Zero help from Corp. Don't they understand you can mix tires on a AWD. They did put this in writing. No problem, had a new SL55 on order plus 30 fleet units, cancelled all of them and bought a Lexus LC500.Incredible car. Will sell the GLC end of the year or sooner. Mercedes customer service still stinks in my opionion.
Really I thought german cars were cheaper in Germany. Any time I'm there, all I see is people driving premium german cars. How do you afford them then?

The new Glc 200 starts at 59.000€ in Germany which is 67.000 Us dollars and fully equipped its over 100.000 Us dollars for a 200 horsepower 4Zylinder engine.
