  • You're looking at what we think is the best luxury 7-seat SUV under $100,000. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB 250 comes with all the bells and whistles and has enough room inside to seat five in comfort with an additional two seats for occasional use. But, do big wheels make it uncomfortable to drive? Paul Maric does a detailed review and finds out!

    Lovely video guys!! Nice detailing. Always a big fan of Car expert and Paul’s reviews.
    Have we done a video on the AMG variant of GLB, I.e., GLB 35 AMG?
    Just wondering what sets the AMG apart from GLB 250 4matic leaving the power aspect. Is 20K increase justified?
    If a video could be done on the comparison of GLB models and ofcourse expert opinion on the cars , that will be great !!
    Thanks in advance

    I bought the same colour, spec & am such a happy customer. I owned a 2017 LR Disco Sport Diesel highly optioned. Considering all the DPF issues was considering to move to a petrol. Shortlisted Tiguan allspace, Kodiaq, Disco Sport & GLB 250.
    I have to say the GLB 250 is miles apart from every other car I test drove on terms of ride feel & comfort. Interiors are just so inviting as well. The only thing I disliked initially was the exterior side profile look but now im used to it. The body height and width is lesser than the Disco Sport but never do you feel cramped for space. Its been designed exceptionally well. Overall a fantastic practical car to drive & live with. The engine is so peppy.

    Does this model suffer from the AWD "crabbing" problems during low/parking speed manoeuvring that some other Mercedes models suffer? This was an uncorrected problem with right hand drive AWD builds which led to great owner dissatisfaction.

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      No - and it’s something I was mindful of given how many issues people have had with the GLC. On full lock in both wet and dry and both part, no load and full throttle load there wasn’t any crabbing.

      Only trouble is it’s so bloody ugly! Reminds me of a Forrester on steroids. Looks pretty quick and nice cabin but nudging $80k on road for ugly, hasn’t won me yet. And of course there is no way you would get 10 litres per 100 klms constant driving in the city. I suspect 13 and that is what people really want to know. That’s not a criticism of this car, it’s all cars. They just never tell you the true figure for “urban” driving. And then there is the fact that fuel consumption is rarely correct on the dash. Invariably if a car says it has done 11 litres per 100 for a tank full, you find it’s actually 12.5 when you fill up. God I wish these reviews would pick the manufacturers up on this BS that they throw at us. Most people would just believe what it says on the dash but it’s not correct. The governing bodies should fine these manufacturers for their misleading crap with fuel consumption.

    It’s not just motoring journalists that care about soft touch materials. It’s become a signifier of quality for a lot of buyers now, I think. Possibly because all the reviews talk about it. I know I screwed up my face when I got in my aunt’s Trax and ran my nails along the dash. Speaking of quality, I couldn’t help but notice the creaking when you pressed on some parts of the dash. Throttle House have pointed this out with other Mercedes. Doubt it would be a deal breaker on what otherwise seems like a pretty good car which being differentiated by the 2 extra seats should do well in its segment.

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm glad the Durometer is of use! This one was pretty well built - but I know what you mean with the creaking. We've driven a few C-Classes that would creak in the sun. I think they have improved some of the materials (thankfully!).

  • @KyTriedIt

    Sorry, but the 3rd row in the GLB250 is far more usable than a Land Rover Disco Spt, so not getting in the back is definitely not a fair comparison especially against its competitors.
    I’m 181cms and can sit in the 3rd row if the 2nd row is edged forward in both the GLB250 and Disco Discovery Sport yet in the Disco there’s cup holders on the floor which just don’t allow me feet to sit comfortably.
    Please edit the review and get in the 3rd row.

My E220d is over 1800Kg but averages 5.5L/100Km combined but my wife’s B250 4matic (same engine, pretty much the same car) does around 9.5L/100Km real world consumption on average… this is a heavier car so won’t be surprised to consume around 11L/100Km real world consumption.

    Bought this car two months ago and will have to wait for probably another two months to get it because it is made in Mexico and the Covid has stopped the production. Therefore l look at reviews and l am happy that l bought because the reviews are all positive. I bought the 200 but with the whole AMG line. The same as the model you’ve tried. I like the interior colors (black & white). Mine will be dynamic and something else which l forgot the name. Dark leather seats (probably not real one).

      Tough call! The Kodiaq if you need more space and prefer handling. This car is punchier in a straight line and feels a little more premium inside.

      Skoda for the better service pricing.
      It's a shame they don't have the 206tsi engine in the Kodiaq. I would have bought one already if so. Still waiting for the superb Scout reviews to come out before I start proper shopping.

    Wish there’s a length conversion to feet for us in U.S. 😊 Not sure I’d consider a Benz, though, lol, this vid was on YT recommended list. My ‘06 4Runner V8 only has 80k miles still runs great and we have a year old 1794. The Cybertruck could replace my 4Runner (since having issue with rodents eating away Toyota’s “eco-friendly” engine wires at times 🥵)... but not sure yet.

    How is iDrive more intuitive? All iDrive is is menus upon menus upon menus. It is not intuitive at all. MBUX literally has a home button like a cellphone with easy menus. Most have now said MBUX is the best and it is. It is the clearest and most crisp and most customisable out there. Doug Demuro and Carwow said it's the best even. But I've also used both. IDrive is nowhere near as nice.
