Are your settings ok? DF found some improvements like colours reflecting to the enviroment. (In their video around 2:40) I like your comparisions but I got a feeling you missed a detail on this one. Or it is me not paying attention ;)
My settings are fine. I showed you them. I noticed no significant improvements myself. I dont report based on what others have found. I love digital foundry stuff, but I make sure to only watch it afterwards to provide my most honest impression.

The story is really good, I have almost completed the game and I am in the endgame now (100% on all storylines except the final 2-3) but I definitely got sucked in after a few hours when the "real" story kicked off, the motorcycle gameplay keeps the pace consistent and it never got boring, it was even fun doing all the side objectives like clearing camps and infestations... Too bad Sony rejected sequel plans and the OG creator who pitched the idea left Bend studios....
Should have been multiplatform from the start then it would have sold more oh well. Thata just one of the possible drawbacks of having games locked to a single platform

I bought this game just to test it out, didn't have the biggest eggspectations but I was really sucked into the world and still play it today. If you haven't tried it, try it.
I don't see how anyone who does this kind of video doesn't have a long-standing annoyance at SSAO flaws that are solved by SSGI. I found it pretty obvious and far nicer with SSGI. In my opinion, it's the single best improvement in the PC version, yet not even mentioned.
I wasn't expecting much of a difference honestly, The game looks really good by it's self and the only problem I had when playing on a normal ps4 is a certain military camp later on in the game that absolutely destroys the frame rate for a good 6 seconds.
Bought Days Gone on steam on a sale price and i had already bought it on PS4 when it got out. On PC, with my RTX 3090, it just runs like a charm on 4k and everything set at maximum. It is really beautiful and way more precise on the overall screen definition compared to what i remembered from when i use to play on my PS4 pro. Now, if only there could be a sequel to that game, i really want to get my hands on Days Gone 2 someday but apparently it won't happen which is really sad to me.
I bought disc on sale for PS4 pro - played it on 4K HDR Monitor - an amazing experience. I'll wait till it goes on special on PC to enjoy it once again on same 4K HDR monitor. Days Gone 2 ! You're right, Probably won't happen - which is indeed sad BUT, maybe Days Gone should remain a one off masterpiece. I absolutely loved this game - If Days Gone 2 does ever get made - it may disappoint, as some the original makers have left that company.
Thank you for the comparison! I recently got this and was blown away by how awesome Days Gone is. This to me, is one of the best open-world/zombie/survival games I ever played. The story is great and it does so many things right. I LOVE the fact there are marauders/bandits/gangs out in the world and they will try to ambush you. Plus they added many challenge modes, survival, horde mode, etc. If you're reading this and never played Days Gone, run out and get it. It's outstanding. Have a great day all! :)
Simple, just look for Flaws, when you do that its actually pretty easy, the majority of people that play games look for the good stuff and thus only see the good stuff.

most amazing part is it runs in gtx1050 2gb..i5 3470...12gb ram... without losing details... in 2021 its hard to find a game that looks and plays great in an old hardware like mine .,,
The biggest difference is the Anisotropic filtering PS4 (2-4x) vs PC (16x) more depth and detail. Also it’s AntiAliasing (AA) is clearly better ( look at character models Hair) less jag and stair climb to each hair. Overall not enough to make 80% of the consumer market care but the rest (usually tech nerds or visual pressed individuals) see the difference. It was a well developed game and deserves credit for the overall presentation and atmosphere that is given to us.
This game is nothing special, not bad but not good, its mediocore with gameplay very similar, just a open world game with repetitive mission, story is okay but too slow and storytelling very bad, main character is boring too
The lighting model is actually different because the PC version offers screen space global illumination while the PS4 version only has screen space ambient occlusion. Anyways, great video, keep it up! You deserve way more subscribers, your videos are always of exceptional quality :)
there may not be a significant amount of difference from ps4 to pc, but when you start adding mods, particularly reshades (just install the "dawn of the dead" reshade, looks incredible) things really start to pop. not to mention the other available mods that are being added to Nexus every day, it really adds a lot to the gameplay
what was most missed in this game was a place to store the things you pick up on the floor, like a chest or backpack, so it was really missed, because after you create a lot of molotovs, you can't taste more items to create later, there when you use everything you have to look for more items later, this is very annoying
finally an unbiased comparison review which HIGHLIGHT THE CORRECT INFORMATION is PC vs PS4 version (Unlike DF which mislead people thinking it is PC vs PS5 version). THERE is no PS5 version, DF is drunk
Can we not forget how insanely good days gone are optimized for pc. I can even run my gt 1030 on 720p low settings but medium texture filtering settings with 40-55fps.
It's great on both mediums. Played it in both PS4 Pro & PC. Trying out in 3090 + 5900X. Kinda expected more in PC. But yes the fluidity in PC in incomparable.

Days Gone on PC runs amazing. I enjoyed the game on PS4 version but on PC with the Higher resolution is fantastic and FPS is great. Death Stranding was also amazing on PC and enjoyed it on PS4 as well| Horizon has FPS issues but mainly in the populated times from time to time. Hope to see more great PS4 titles on PC. Great Video
Render scale is only on 100, You want 200, i know its upscaling and then downscaling to the native resolution, I do this in 1080p 1920x1080 no problem as 4k and 8k is overated especially for performance loss. But the game is amazingly well done interms of performance and optimizing, Story on this is great, A perfect the last of us clone interms of combat, Crafting and action.
what's the point on having a pc port of a game that doesn't change that much? more people can play my friends, that alone should be enough, graphic bump and other fancy technologies are cool, but seein' playstation exclusives coming to pc and being able to play them without buying a console, is amazing
Days gone looks amazing on the PC. im getting 70-100 fps in 1440p ultrawide with HDR. i said wow while playing it. never said wow while playing the game on the ps4 pro.
Just finished the game after 41hours of play time, fantastic experience on the PC! Kinda glad I didn't buy it 2 years ago cuz the 30fps would make me drop the game otherwise.
Two years ago I bought it for my Pro and took me months to play it again because of it being boring in the first chapter, but I don't mind 30fps since my 5-6 year old laptop gives me 1-16 fps for some games but hey I am glad that you enjoyed it. Still sad we won't get Days Gone 2 tho.

You didn't noticed it one thing: PC versions use Screen Space Global Ilumination instead of the Standart Screen Space Ambilent Oclusion when lightning it's on veryhigh.
Playing this on pc is what made me like this game I played Days Gone on PlayStation twice and never got past the first few hours. First time was at launch on a PS4 Slim and then 5/6 months after launch on a PS4 Pro. Playing this game at 30fps (sometimes it struggled to even hit 30) was rough and playing it with a dualshock was meh But on pc, where I am playing at high settings with anywhere between 80-100fps with a Mouse and Keyboard and with a lot of the technical issues that were present in its first year, its just a whole different beast and much more enjoyable
Got this game when it was free on April. Safe to say it's WAY better than I thought it was. Might go back to it soon after replaying DayZ recently when CoD/Siege got stale for me.

There's some glossy tone and well placed shadowing to the game at very certain times. Makes the game look almost photorealistic in such cases. Unfortunately tho it only seems to work at very high settings. I'd have liked it if they worked on screen space reflection more as it's almost non-existent in water. But I think most PS4 exclusive have crap reflection in an otherwise beautiful graphics presentation.
I'm all about ReShade, I love adding ReShade onto such games, ReShade can massively enhance the texture sharpness, add HDR effects etc Its a must for any high end Pc user imo
Days Gone Performance (if it was a girl): So I was with this PS4 Pro guy since the beginning, really sweet and kind and I was happy since I knew him since childhood and I worked nicely with him. But then, I met this PC guy recently, and my gawd my world just got *_wider_* and I felt right at home with him.
you missed the fact that the PC version now has SS GI, which simulates light bouncing (in screen space). Absent from all playstation versions. This adds a great deal of depth (by adding bounce lighting en more accurate ambience occlusion), and also explains the difference in what you call brightness level in some scenes.
Render scale is a super sample method. That is not something that is considered for these comparisons. I have an rtx 3090 and even I wont sacrifice frames for super sampling
I loved Days gone on my ps4 I have played it like 7 times and I have done a couple of runs on the hardesy difficulty.. this was also the first game my girlfriend completed and it took her 1 year. This game will blow my mind on pc because I am used to the basic ps4 version😂 I cant wait to buy it and play it this weekend :)

Days Gone was the first game that felt like real life. I still cant believe its over. Its like I was there. I need part 2...o brien!!
You should try heavy rain

For those who experience stuttering on pc version make sure that the window resoulution is fullScreen not windowed fullscreen.

The main point for me is the much better performance, I can lock the game to 120 fps, and the ability to play with mouse and keyboard.
You will never beat PC graphics. The PC is constantly evolving whereas consoles are locked in for 6-8 years.
Days gone has one of the best stories over. Hopefully more people will play this game!

But on pc, where I am playing at high settings with anywhere between 80-100fps with a Mouse and Keyboard and with a lot of the technical issues that were present in its first year, its just a whole different beast and much more enjoyable
Got this game when it was free on April. Safe to say it's WAY better than I thought it was. Might go back to it soon after replaying DayZ recently when CoD/Siege got stale for me.

There's some glossy tone and well placed shadowing to the game at very certain times. Makes the game look almost photorealistic in such cases. Unfortunately tho it only seems to work at very high settings. I'd have liked it if they worked on screen space reflection more as it's almost non-existent in water. But I think most PS4 exclusive have crap reflection in an otherwise beautiful graphics presentation.
Days gone was one of three games I’ve ever platinumed it’s possibly along with TLOU1&2 one of my all time favourite games
Days Gone was highly underrated. It's sad to see that we most liking won't get a sequel. Looks the the Pro version holds up really well.

I'm all about ReShade, I love adding ReShade onto such games, ReShade can massively enhance the texture sharpness, add HDR effects etc Its a must for any high end Pc user imo
Days Gone Performance (if it was a girl): So I was with this PS4 Pro guy since the beginning, really sweet and kind and I was happy since I knew him since childhood and I worked nicely with him. But then, I met this PC guy recently, and my gawd my world just got *_wider_* and I felt right at home with him.
you missed the fact that the PC version now has SS GI, which simulates light bouncing (in screen space). Absent from all playstation versions. This adds a great deal of depth (by adding bounce lighting en more accurate ambience occlusion), and also explains the difference in what you call brightness level in some scenes.

He meant the actual character model and textures, it obviously looks better because of the resolution.

Render scale is a super sample method. That is not something that is considered for these comparisons. I have an rtx 3090 and even I wont sacrifice frames for super sampling

I loved Days gone on my ps4 I have played it like 7 times and I have done a couple of runs on the hardesy difficulty.. this was also the first game my girlfriend completed and it took her 1 year. This game will blow my mind on pc because I am used to the basic ps4 version😂 I cant wait to buy it and play it this weekend :)
PS5 is freaking amazing. i feel in love with almost all PS exclusive games. they r in there class of there own.
Just goes to show it was at its peak on release. That's a good thing in a way... because the didn't limit the experience.

If you look closely at this particular shadow from this strand of hair, you'll notice the shadow has an obvious shimmering effect across the characters skin pore.
the sound also seems to be better on the PC version.

i love every minute of it even tough i don't get the real ending. playing it with mouse and keyboard is so natural that make me addicted in killing horde.
