There are points in the game where there are less or more zombies depending on the day, or I think even if you talk to Kent for the first time, zombies get despawned in the Paradise Plaza area and it seems that's why the place looks like there's less zombies in your footage of the 2006 version. In both versions, there is similar amounts of zombies. Also, when you say there is more blood in the remake, that's not entirely true. The only reason you think that is because a big splat texture appears under a zombie you hit now, but otherwise, there is far less blood effects than in the original game. Contrary to the old version, the remake has no blood spurts that hit the floor and create even more splatters, there is less blood when you are bitten, fountains of blood don't shoot out from the neck after a zombie is beheaded and little to no splatters appear on Frank's model. The area where you fight Cliff also has significantly less blood. You also say there's more dismemberment. There is actually missing instances of dismemberment in the remake, like when you do the giant swing and pieces of the zombie you swing fall off.
Anyone else notice no bullet casings are ejected from the guns when fired? lack of polish imo, the original had it for every gun because that is how firearms work 😅

If anything this shows how relatively little graphics tech has actually progressed over 20 years. Compare a game from the 90's to Skyrim, this stuff used to advance much more rapidly.
That's because the types of things that were progressing from 1990-2005 were more obvious. Graphics tech is absolutely progressing a great deal, but it's not as clear to most people. Higher fidelity lighting, shadows, draw distances, particle density, interactivity, physics simulation. All this stuff is extremely demanding and constantly improving. Surface level facial geometry and animations only have so much more to go
I wanted to provide some constructive feedback on your comparison videos: the use of Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) significantly compromises image quality, resulting in noticeable blur, ghosting, and other artifacts. it's my hope that developers will soon acknowledge the limitations of TAA and explore alternative solutions. sadly, i don't anticipate a change in this approach anytime soon.

@@stonecold-i7c Render to texture or just mirroring geometry? Those can be a waste of resources or just not done very often due to geometry or level design constraints
Oh, i know. But it's the best AA solution avilable in this title from what I remember seeing.
I'd much rather use MSAA or DLAA (even tho msaa is outdated and super demanding)
Ssaa is also decent, but too demanding.
I'll take TAA over FXAA any day though
I wished co-op multiplayer was added
is it just me or does Frank get thinner when he uses Chuck's outfit
I swear, Chuck in DR2 looks like a worm compared to Frank in OTR

You alive, Nick? 😮
I should be, i just posted this
@@Nick930 still among the living then... good. 😅
*Idc how “polished” the remake is, the og version had some magic that you can’t replicate today*
Nick is back
😎
On my 2nd playthrough.
You shouldn’t be trying to remove the emptiness of the game is a good criticism.
hes bacckkk!
I much rather would have had a remake with added items to use and new encounters. This is basically just a high res PC mod for $50…
This Frank seems more the one of the first original demo appereance.
You didn't mention how they removed the erotic photography from the game.
I didnt notice. Maybe that's because I don't take upskirts of digital zombies
@@Nick930 But you're perfectly fine with the camera constantly gazing at Isabela and Jessie?
@@Nick930 soyish answer. that was part of Kent's quest, and cheryl's request, goober. No one was getting off to the zombies
@@camdenritter7652 It's no longer a distinct category in itself, but you still get PP for taking photograph's of Jessie's boobs in some scenes. Cheryl's Request is totally unaltered, and you get a bonus for photographing her while she's posing. Seems like it was removed as a last-minute thing, rather than having been removed from the outset. Cheryl is a late game, somewhat hidden survivor, and Day 3 wasn't really showcased in any previews or demos, hence why it's pretty much exactly the same.
