@faizal - what battery charger would you suggest for the x100v ? I really would like to charger the battery externally via a wall charger rather than plugging it to my laptop. Is there a trusted battery charger you would suggest. Alternatively, how does the idea of directly plugging my camera thru a USB + OnePlus warp charge adapter sound. ? Would this spoil my camera. ? I am very anxious abt this and need your advice.. thanks
Hey Man I know your going through some personal family stuff I hope you’re doing well man I wish you the best and hope to see you make some videos again soon. Your fans will always be here for you!! ❤️❤️❤️✌️✌️✌️
I've learnt that different films work differently in different countries.. in my part of the world, the sky is mostly covered with pollution and thus the sunlight that penetrates through the ozone layer gives a different light as compared to another country that has nice bright clear sky. Kodak Gold 200 to me is the best to use in Jakarta, Indonesia. I'd get that "truer" Indonesian vibe using that film. Whereby when I was in Tokyo, Japan, Fuji C200 was my choice and it gave me that "truer" Japanese vibe in my shots. So based on the results I encountered, I think that the films one should be using should depend on the light in that area in order to get to the closest "truer" vibe of that area. So the next time I'm moving to another country, I'd probably have to experiment again on which films suit the area.
would you say that the films that are easiest to find in a definite country are precisely the ones that are best suited to the local colours and lights?
@@jeanaiplu3840 I'm not sure about that to be honest. Like in my part of the world, we're fortunately to have all kinds of films available in the market, so I've been fortunate to have tried different types that are available, whether they're major film producers or "indie" film producers. There is this Indonesian made film called Cartenz, and I didn't like how it produced the pictures when I shot in Jakarta, Indonesia. But my gut feeling is telling me this could work well under a different light and environment... like in a Japanese countryside, I thought.. But again, I also still think it's all about preferences.
@@umareta Thanks for your answer. When you say films are available, do you mean in common photo shops? Or do you refer to films you can order online? If so, are produced in Indonesia or if they are imported? I live in Switzerland btw
I had one of these in the 80s! Bought in DC, took it to Europe, Africa, Dallas. Loved it. Seemed to have a magical quality of taking great photos. Then a girlfriend of mine left mine behind at a wedding and it was lost. Years later when I graduated from grad school I bought myself a famous 35Ti, thinking since it was also a Nikon, and a "premium" model, it would surely be an improvement on my lost 35AF. Turned out not to be the case! Somehow the new one just didn't have the magic!
That first exposure was amazing! Such an underrated camera. 4 years ago I had 5 of these L35AF when everyone else was hyped for the Contax and Yashica’s. Now the prices on this L35AF is soaring. The lens is very special and renders beautiful reds and yellows!
Hi Faizal, what a coincidence. I bought this camera for around 80€ (90$) this week and also bought the Fuji C200 to see its results. Good video, greetings from Spain!
Happy to say that thanks to faizel's first video of this camera i've been a proud owner of this beauty. And holy moly it is fantastic!! funny enough till this date its still the camera with the best (focus indicating) viewfinder i've ever used. its so simple and thats what makes it so great
I can say the same. Thank you for this video and the other video you did on the Nikon L35AF. I have always loved Nikon and am happy to add this one to my camera collection as my analog, take everywhere with me, go-to point-and-shoot. I think I may have had this camera when I was in high school when it first came out (damn, I am now old). However, this time I'll make sure to treasure it more and not get rid of it. Thanks again, and I am enjoying your videos.
I wasn't super blown away with its lens, but I haven't put a ton of rolls through it over the years. I like the flash override, and that you can hold down the shutter to wind later to be more inconspicuous.
I agree, I just went through some rolls and the lack of quality was what I noticed first. Everyone hails the sharpness but then their photo samples are really nothing special.
This is my go-to point and shoot. If you catch me in public I likely have this on my person. I absolutely love it, especially for street photography. My only critique is it's easy to pop the flash up or accidentally jostle the on/off switch in a bag or pocket which in effect will drain your battery. There have been tons of times where I was ready to shoot and there was simply no juice. That said, it's a monster. And the flash is great. Thanks for the video.
Good to see another frequent shooter of this cam! What I do to keep the flash from going off is apply a little bit of gaffer tape to it, seems to do the trick
I bought one of these recently and I love it. You're right about the battery door, it's so bad. I have been using a small toothpick to keep the battery door closed as it opens easily. But this camera is worth it
I bought an L35AF on the famous Hong Kong electronics locality, Nathan Road, in 1983. Cost was the almost exact equivalent of £100 GBP. Used it for about 8 years before I bought an Olympus AF-10 which was a) new and b) more pocketable than the L35. Fast forward to around 2015 or 2016, I put the L35 up on eBay at a starting price of about £9.95. Not a single bid. Around 4 years ago, I noticed that the L35's were now attracting a lot of interest on Ebay. Listed it again, with a Buy Now price of £100. Sold immediately.
My L35AF2 is now 38 years old and the battery compartment door is in flawless condition. I don't know if they improved it some way into this model but this camera has been in my family since my parents bought it in 1985. So, it's used a lot but also it hasn't been mishandled.
Cool video, some really nice shots especially the car, what other film cameras would you recommend that's point-and-shoot but offers maybe a tiny bit more control?
I’ve seen another video about this camera and it made me think about one in my dad’s box of old camera’s. Long story short, I’m now the proud owner of my dad’s version 2 of this Nikon!
Mate, love the video, I picked up the canon version of this point and shoot in a market in Amsterdam for 5 euros and it works. You've got me so excited to shoot my first roll this weekend. Keen to test the black and white version of your shots.
honestly i fell in love with fujic200 when i went away to wales in the mountains with just an olympus and a few roles...best photos i've taken yet it handles greens perfectly for me...a few years later that olympus met its tragic demise down a cliff so onto the next victim haha
Looks extremely similar to my Minolta Hi-Matic AF2. Mine has a little trouble auto-exposing in high contrast situations. The lens is incredible though. Combined with a cheap film stock, the images have so much character. Great video man, love the shot of the car turning the corner!
The minolta af2 too is also a great camera. Please don’t mention it too much, we don’t want the prices to soar. It is the last secret awesome camera that hypsters need not know about.
I once passed on one of these in a charity shop for £35 and have regretted it ever since. Another one came up recently in a different shop recently and they have priced it at £150!
I suggest people check out a Nikon af600 or also known as Nikon lite touch AF. It's a very nice camera about half as big has a 28 mm lens. And it's really more like a premium point and shoot. And takes excellent photos as well. As far as the film goes this would probably be my last choice if I was going to shoot anything with any plants foliage trees natural things in it. Kodak gold 200 would give a lot warmer and pleasing results.
I just got one of these from my wife’s grandfather. The whole family knows I collect cameras and they all started going their their stuff to find them for me.
I have this camera but the one touch version, doesn’t have ASA control, but the lens is just the same at 2.8 incredibly sharp. Been a trooper for close to two years now, got it on eBay for 100 dollars and the battery door is awful just got to be careful. If you have the chance shoot Lomography 800 during the night /day and it’s absolutely beautiful
The battery door is definitely a weak point in the camera, but they're fairly easy to replace and since it's just a small piece of plastic with a metal contact it shouldn't be tough to 3d print one. Really nice photos! You have a really high hit rate to my eye. Looking at this camera as a possible replacement for my Hi-Matic AF2M that died after roll 2 😭 I loved the handling of that camera but they have a reputation for being fragile, the Nikon seems much better in that regard. That swan song roll was incredible though, damn
Hey FYI the link to your insta doesnt work on any videos, don't know if you chose to leave the platform or if you changed your handle and forgot to update the links.. I wanted to follow your work but frustated that I can't find you :(
That’s the first camera I remember using back when I was 8 or 9 years old. It’s still in the house, but it doesn’t seem to work. And yes, the battery door is just terrible.
Another great video. Colors were great! Ive shot this film before but never felt it landed with me. Somehow yours look great. Maybe I should run another roll to see :)
LA looks like an empty Tokyo with big cars. So much flat cement and glass! Nice pics, they look like what I get with a very different camera, my Olympus OM SLR. I wonder how your camera compares with the Konica Big Mini...
the box of the film in your video doesn't look like fuji c200, it looks like a new fuji 200, which is a different film stock. its datasheet is very similar to kodak films, check it out on the internet. thank you for the great content!
On my second copy of this camera because of Faizal and Benj Haisch. The lens on this camera is really sharp! My copies don't have a working flash so it's a bummer as I heard it's a really good fill flash for back lit situations and indoor use. Also, the C200 is my go to film stock at the moment. Not sure if its the cameras/lenses I use but the Kodak films are too saturated to my liking. Great shots and nice video by the way, Faizal!
I want to buy that camera on eBay but the best near mint one I found is $150 + shipping😅 kinda difficult to pay that but then again I know prices will go up
I’ve never used it outside at night but I’ve used it in dark lighting situations and used the flash. Sometimes I forget the flash even exists on it but it’s incredibly useful!
Do it! Image quality is about on par with a Yashica T4, but the Sonnar F2.8 can give the L35AF a great look to it at closer focus in the right light. Yashica Zeiss lens color/contrast is something special though. L35AF are great for the price, and one of the best internally made budget point & shoots.
It's crazy how much of a difference that camera w/ Cinestill is, compared to the Fuji200 film stock.. While still decent, the photos just didn't come out as good w/ the pricier film stock. I guess that makes sense lol.
Yo Faizal I just purchased the cheaper LA35AD version with the 4 element lens! Super stocked to see how these c200 images came out and keen to try it out myself Btw the car image at 11:11 is really something, the colours and composition feel very natural and not forced. loving it all

I don’t shoot film (wish I did) but the images from a film camera are just so full of life and I love watching film videos.. maybe one day, maybe..
Fujic200 is one of my favourites for shooting nature in rain especially. It gives very vibrant greens and browns.

Great shot! 09:23
I inherited my dads Nikon FA but have never had a point and shoot. Going to be on the look out for this or similar to muck around with!
Was this shot on the old fuji c200 or the new one made in US? It doesn't seem as blue as c200
The battery door is definitely a weak point in the camera, but they're fairly easy to replace and since it's just a small piece of plastic with a metal contact it shouldn't be tough to 3d print one. Also, like most p&s cameras there are a fair bit of parts cameras floating around so you could source a door that way too.
The earlier version only goes up to 400 iso.
Was about to ask the same thing - 3D printing may well be possible without seeing it in person.
Love this! I’m going to buy some c200 now! I have a Nikon one touch point and shoot.
This is an awesome camera.
My first film point and shoot, I have the mark 2 where I can’t manually adjust ISO, it reads DX code. So I hack the DX code 😂🤷🏻♂️ on the canister.
The lens is super sharp in mine as well.
And I shot c200 on it on vacation last summer.
How do you hack the DX code? Just got a point and shoot and a bunch of expired Fuji Superia 400 that came with it.
Where did you get your strap from?
Does it have a timer?

How do you load the pictures to a computer?
Great video my man.
been rocking the 2nd version of this cam for a few months
Oh yea I remember seeing you post a photo of it once. It’s a great pocket cam
can you set this camera to iso 800 or is it just 400 straight to 1000??
Hi, has anyone tried a Nikon TW Zoom 105? Part of the Zoom Touch series from the mid 1980s and 1990s.
i just found this camera in great condition at my local thrift store for $3. i will have to go through a roll to see how i like it.
I'm so glad I found your channel
That’s a very cool cam 🔥🔥
I have 2 of these 1000iso models and I think the earlier ones have that battery door problem the later ones have a metal clip inside the battery door that dosnt slip out as easy I have a 500,000 serial number one and then the newer one is in the 3,000,000 numbers

The price of Fuji c200 has gone up to the equivalent of about $16 in the UK. I'm not kidding. It's mental
That's very interesting Faizal. How does it perform at night? Have you used it for night street photography?
I’ve never used it outside at night but I’ve used it in dark lighting situations and used the flash. Sometimes I forget the flash even exists on it but it’s incredibly useful!
Wondering if I should get myself one for everyday use :)
Great vid brother.
Defintely a great cam to just leave loaded in a backpack. I would probably do that if I didn’t have 50 bags
Do it! Image quality is about on par with a Yashica T4, but the Sonnar F2.8 can give the L35AF a great look to it at closer focus in the right light. Yashica Zeiss lens color/contrast is something special though. L35AF are great for the price, and one of the best internally made budget point & shoots.
I just found out my dad has this camera, going to get it fixed and give it a whirl!
Yo where’d you get your strap from big dog?
It's crazy how much of a difference that camera w/ Cinestill is, compared to the Fuji200 film stock.. While still decent, the photos just didn't come out as good w/ the pricier film stock. I guess that makes sense lol.
I paid 5AUD for mine in like 2017. Love it still
What thrift stores do you guys recommend in the Southern California region
Late reply here but I just found one at Savers the other day.
I let pass one the other day in a flea market .... Noooo.
broooo
@@FaizalWestcott still learning😅
No lens cap?
You can really see how mushy the edges of the frame are in these photos with the L35AF
Props for pronouncing “Nikon” correctly!

Yo Faizal I just purchased the cheaper LA35AD version with the 4 element lens!
Super stocked to see how these c200 images came out and keen to try it out myself
