    I like this mic. A good price for entry level. And since the sound is so bright, especially in the high tones, it might benefit some voices and become perfectly suitable for some applications I cannot think of off the top of my head because I'm dumb.
    Kudos to Lewitt for replying in the comments, too!

      @@IshaanNigamOfficial I am by no means an expert in audio equipment. I would suggest watching Bandrew's other videos (specifically with the mics that you've listed) and making a table of pros and cons if it's TMI. That should do the trick. Maybe it's a video idea for @Podcastage or maybe he can reply here.
      I also heard he had a discord server full of audio enthusiasts (link in description box) so it can be your destination where you could get all the answers and people's experiences. Good luck with you singing career and your setup upgrade.

    What self noise do you think is best for voice over? I'm thinking about the MXL 770X which has an equivalent self noise of 16db and was wondering what you'd think.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think 16dBA is acceptable. I suppose it would really come down to what your client's project requirements are. For youtube voice over, then absolutely that would be sufficient.

I returned it and returned my focusrite scarlett solo 3rd gen as well. I reordered them again and experienced the same issue again :( I have reduced my sample rate to 48khz and matched it on my sound settings. Still same issue. I reinstalled drivers and still same issue. Tried different DAW and still same issue. I am running xlr to trs balanced cables from studio monitors to the interface. Any thoughts??? All help appreciated!

    1:32 Strange... the frequency response chart you show is now different on Lewitt's website. What you show here looks identical to the 440. Lewitt is now showing the 240 to have a much steeper drop below 200hz.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is very strange. Maybe they updated the microphone? I'm not sure. But that would make a lot more sense that it has a steeper drop in the low-end because it is not the beefiest sounding of mics. Thanks for pointing that out, it's very interesting.

    Do the lct 540 subzero please. Really interested in that mic. I think you wrong about the electric guitar on this one. Sounded great, not muddy at all on my airpods. 🤷🏻‍♂️ pretty phenomenal sound for 150 dollars. 19db self noise sounds high in comparison to the 540’s 4db but realistically it shouldn’t be a problem, especially for voice overs. Sony c800g, the most expensive and probably most common pop and rap mic has an 18db self noise even with that big ass heat sink supposedly there to cool the tube and reduce noise 🙄

      It's best for condenser mics to have a good area to record, like a room with good padding and no echo. So it's likely a no.

      @Podcastage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2i2 and 18i20 have the exact same performance. Same preamps. Sams converters. The only difference is the 18i20 rack mount has 1dB more noise due to the main power supply. So the sound you're hearing should be the exact same as you'd get on the 2i2.

    It's so sibilant. The AT2035 isn't nearly as sibilant, so that would be my preference.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah. The 2035 is more nasally so depending on preference that’ll make it very easy to decide. Both are easily solvable in post. Just depends which you’d want to fix in post or if you think nasaliness is something that needs to be fixed.

    Do you think this mic would be good for piano recording in a stereo pair?

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll start by saying this. I’ve never mic’d a piano. With that being said, I’d imagine you would want more neutral microphone. Also I don’t think that that graininess in the upper frequencies would be as forgivable on a piano. I could be wrong on all fronts though because as I mentioned I have never miced up a piano.

    se x1a
    240 pro
    which one to buy?

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not recorded hip-hop vocals and I do not record hip-hop vocals, so I don't know what the criteria or desired sound really is. I have not used the X1a so I am unable to comment on that mic.
      The LCT240 is the brighter of the two mics between the AT2020 and LCT240, so it depends on if you want that added clarity or not. I can't tell you which one you will like the sound of better though, you get to decide that and that's the fun of it.
      Sorry I can't provide you with an absolute answer on this stuff, there's a lot of preference involved in it.

      Could absolutely be used for music, voice, etc. at the $150 price it’s compelling. Not the best at Bg noise rejection so probably not the best for gaming or recording in noisier environments or completely untreated rooms.

    Well, you can sure play a guitar, damn. Do you think I'm wrong in thinking that a pop filter designed to fit snug against the mic is kind of worthless? All these Lewitt mics sound a bit too crispy for me. In that price range, I still recommend to new narrators the 2035. Such a solid little beast. Thanks for another great vid.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hope I didn’t call it a pop filter. It’s a windscreen which is a lot thicker and denser foam and Is intended to absorb the wind to avoid it hitting the diaphragm. Not as effective as a pop filter at rejecting plosives but still does a somewhat nice job here because it’s so thick and dense. And it takes care of some of the high end. They are definitely crispy, which depending on your definition, I don’t think is inherently bad. If it’s bright/crispy, but smooth, I think it’s perfectly fine and it’d come down more towards preference.

      @@Podcastage Oh no, I didn't explain properly. No, I put one of those windscreens on my NT1 for the same reason, just because I like the wee little edge taken off. No I'm referring to those silly little pop filters that Lewitt mics come with that snap right onto the grill. good design concept but do they do the job, compared to a pop filter a couple inches away from the diaphragm?

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Biggest Little Audio House oh! I think it depends on the pop filter. It certainly won’t be as effective as of it was 6” off the mic. But it might still be fine, but not as good as it it were farther away.

    well, you can freaking play a guitar, that's for sure. btw, tell me if I'm wrong in your opinion, but as cool as the pop filter is, It seems to me that placing the pop filter damn near against the mic does virtually no good. thanks again for another great vid.
