  • Today, I have the Lewitt LCT 440 Pure AND the Lewitt LCT 240 Pro in the Audio Hotline Studio! A big thank you to Lewitt for helping me get my hands on these microphones to test out and compare. In this video I didn't only want it to be a comparison but I also wanted to answer the question that I have been asked quite a bit... Which one should I get? The 440 PURE or the 240 PRO?
    In most cases this question can be answered by budget alone. If budget isn't the main concern, then expectations, use case, and overall audio needs can always help break down which could be right for you.
    In this video I go in depth into each of these microphone's specs, features, accessories and sound. If you are trying to decide between these mics I feel like this video can help you make that decision... at least I hope so.
    Be sure to check out the testing and audio samples and see if this is right for you! Every person has different expectations of audio gear. If the features are what you need, and you like the sound, then it is right for you!
    As usual, if I forget to mention something, or you have any additional questions, feel free to comment below or reach out to me via e-mail.
    Thanks for watching the Audio Hotline! I'll see you Audio Nerds next time!

    Nice to hear the comparison, thank you. I would have liked to hear the 240 without the foam screen, because I think it might stifle a bit of the high end, which I felt was the most noticeable difference from the 440.

    Both microphones sounds super clear and detailed to my ears, though I did like the sound of the 440 pure just a little more, but idk if I would pay the extra 120 bucks for it. Might just go for the 240 pro instead, nothing a little careful post-processing can't fix ;) Good review

    Bottom line, the 240 is a respectable spoken word broadcast/streaming mic...reasonably clean but 2D flat sounding. The 440 and it's 441 sibling are in another league with modern high definition presence/sparkle without being harsh. Use it them ANYWHERE in the recording studio.

    I would definitely want to cop that 440. It seems like the plosives were better controlled. My P's are pretty prominent hehe. And the white noise seems way quieter, which I love!

  • @matthartman9007
    @matthartman9007 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great review! I can hear a big difference between the two with just 7506's. The LCT 440 definitely sounds better and would be worth the extra money, imo, even if you have to skimp on your budget elsewhere. For most content creators, the one thing you shouldn't skimp on is sound, which positions the LCT 240 in a weird spot in the market. The Rode NT1 is only $20 - $30 USD more than the LCT 240, and the NT1 is very hard to beat in that price range.

  • @epambos
    @epambos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have the LCT 240 and the high boost gives it an acoustic profile that reminds of much higher priced microphones and makes it very "modern" sounding. But, the noise level is indeed noticable...

    Will the 440 require an in-line pre-amp if plugged directly into a mixer? I am having issues with my current mic having low gain. Also what kind of room did you do the demo in and what was around to absorb/dampen ambient sound reflections? I am looking for an affordable Voiceover mic. Hope to hear from you as it is very hard to get responses on TH-cam. Thank you

    I originally got the 240 for my wifes voice and the 440 with its better low end for mine. In the meantime I still use the 240 for my wife asya "streaming mic" but a SM58 for mine for the rare case I get recorded as I am always near the noisy gear. The 440 gets used together with either a SDC or a SM57 to record instruments (Jagdhorn, recorders, ukuleles, acoustic guitar etc.). Works for me.

    Interested if there is a difference in sound between the 440 and 441flex. The LCT 440 Pro sounds better because of the specs, but I think you were naturally ore-disposed to it and we're perhaps giving it the advantage of maybe 5 degrees in the facing towards it. You weren't exactly centre while speaking into both microphones.

    I might be a little crazy but the mics sound pretty different to me. A/B the 240 sounds kinda thin and tinny while the 440 is darker and has more weight to it, for lack of a better word. Not to say the 240 would sound thin compared to other mics in its price class (or that the 440 is dark compared to mics in its class), just the difference I heard between the two, side by side.
    I think both are great mics and each is a great contender at their price points.

    • @AudioHotline
      @AudioHotline  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, that is what I was saying too. The 440 sounds “bigger” and the 240 sounds a little more “narrow”. I also talk about how the 440 has more bass. We are basically saying the same thing with different words haha. When I was messing with EQ on the 440 track and I killed some of the really high “air” frequencies and lowered the bass a bit, they sounded pretty damn similar, but the 440 still seemed a bit more open... which seems like a weird word to use. 😂

    What is that noise!!!! It's driving me crazy! Every time you speak into that microphone, and I can't tell which one it is it sounds like there is a sound wave hitting a crystal wine glass making it hum literally every time you speak

      You just described how I felt when I had a busted ear drum. We all have different sensitivity to certain frequencies and these mics DO have a lot of high end (treble).

    All I hear on any video of any Lewitt mic is “sssssibilanccceeee”
    Seriously, these mics are kinda buns until you get to the models that cost 3x as much as the 240/440.

      People got weird when I said the word for… male parts 🍆 So I came up with something REALLY close to it as a joke. Also, I was really bored of the same ole plosive test.

    You mentioned several times the difference in accessories. I think that made sense. I just ordered this bundle, LCT 240 PRO including the shock mount for the same price: www.thomann.de/es/lewitt_lct_240_pro_bk_bundle.htm
