    I like everything about the new Rogue and think Nissan did a great job. I currently have a 2015 Nissan Rogue SL with 57k miles and I absolutely love it. Personally it still feels, looks and drives like a premium vehicle. My 2014 Nissan Versa SV has 70k miles and so far has been a great reliable car.

    Nice job, Alex. I like your (and Sofyan’s) reviews over everyone else’s by a long way; you’re straight to the point, no nonsense, and provide significant detail on things I think most drivers should know about (especially cabin noise and ride quality). One thing, though: when talking about the RAV4, no one bothers to mention the important point that the memory seats feature does NOT extend to the external mirrors. I had to learn this after purchasing my RAV4 last year, and it still eats at me. So does the 2021 Rogue Platinum you reviewed here have memory seats and mirrors?
    Keep up the great work, and I’ll keep watching!

      @@James-il3tq Very few people who buy new vehicles keep them for 100,000+ miles, though. The average American new-car buyer buys a new car every 4-6 years depending on the size of the vehicle (larger vehicles tend to be kept longer). That is to say that very few people who buy the Rogue and Rav4 new will own them much longer than their powertrain warranties (5-year, 60,000-miles for both vehicles).
      Long term reliability mostly only applies to used car buyers as they are the ones who will be driving the vehicles when they reach and exceed 100,000 miles and will do so without the original factory powertrain warranty, meaning that any repairs will be comping out of their own pockets.

    • @TheLanard
      @TheLanard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dave3682 I agree. However, you do have a smaller percentage of drivers who have long daily commutes and who also travel state-to-state. That's not to mention uber and delivery drivers. Those people, including me, will easily put 200,000 miles in 4-5 years. At least during that time they want a reliable vehicle that won't have major repairs, nor will it have multiple annoying electronic bugs.

      Get over it. In the next 5 years most 4 cylinders/hybrids will be running CVTs. I don't care for them either but as long as your not taking your CVT vehicle to the track you'll be fine. Reliability is way up and moms don't care as long as it's a smooth ride. Also conventional transmissions aren't bulletproof either.

    Outside of the Hybrid, it just seems that you get more car for the money with the Rogue. It seems it has almost matched the CX-5s interior in regards to materials and is definitely at the top in tech probably along side the new Tucson. Interior space is still on the top end of the class And the driving dynamics seem to be much better as well.
    But the assumptions on reliability and price may not hold true as they have in the past. There hasn’t been much noise about the latest batch of Nissan CVTs and that’s essentially been the main cause of concern with Nissans. And Nissan is still aiming to sell with less discounts as before. I’m sure there will still be some, but the level of quality and the competitive pricing seems to be another approach to keeping discounts at bay. Overall it seems Nissan is willing to sacrifice volume for higher transaction prices.

    I know you can't really do this with new cars, but I wish somebody would evaluate interior build quality instead of how nice it looks.
    I've had a Honda, Toyota, and Nissan. The Honda (the oldest model) was cheap hard plastic and put together like crap, but it never rattled and held up perfectly. The Nissan was the nicest, but the dash fell apart several times (felt kept just falling out of junctions) and the shifter trim eventually broke and jammed the shifter. The Toyota was assembled like some kind of tank, every wire was bolted down and the trim was tight, but somehow *everything* rattled. I would find they put felt everywhere except like the one spot they should have.

I currently have a leased 2018 RAV4 hybrid that I’m turning in at end of the month, and I don’t want to go with the new RAV4 due to the interior dimensions and higher cost. I’m currently trying to decide between the new Rogue SV trim or a 2020 Ford Hybrid Escape. I like the mgps with the Escape, but I’m willing to sacrifice some of that for more cargo space. Either way, I’m financing the next vehicle, so it’s a longer term investment.

The only time I had problem with it and had to almost do a major repair is when I try to modify it to make it more fuel efficient, with is system call an HHO kit which also turn out to be a scam. Just regular oil, oil filter and air filter change, is the only maintenance I do out side of accidents I had that need to be repair. My only annoyance with it, is only on my once yearly trip Brooklyn NY to Montreal QC. I just take to long to shift when I am going up dose steep mounting hills and my highway speed start to drop off real quickly, with my foot to the metal. Besides back seat room being lacking in the RAV as you point out, the front seating space is also less than the prior version(pre 2019), At 6'3" I am tall, but not NBA tall and the driver legroom is no longer sufficient in the current model(head room is just marginal now). Plus with the driver's seat back as far as it will go I and looking at the widened B pillar when looking to the side. Even front facing child seats would suffer as it is tight with legroom for the grandkids in my 2016 RAV sticking out from their car seats - even if I move teh front seat up some.
    Highlander amazingly isn't that much better. Thus I recently ordered a Telluride to get the roomier front and rear legroom with a usable third row to boot.
    I got the 2016 RAV because of it's roominess for a compact and wish they hadn't shrunk the seating space. Sure would like to fit in a Prime! Quicker AND more fuel efficient.

  • @JasonPrice1
    @JasonPrice1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Man... I just can't take these videos where you have a Nissan in them, seriously. I don't care how premium the damned interior feels. When I am stranded on the side of the road, sitting waiting for the tow truck in a nicer interior, is no compensation.
    - All around, best choice, CRV, whatever trim you want (Price for features, the EX-L seems best value).
    - Best reliability, RAV4, whatever trim you want.
    - Best choice if you need towing and don't want a large SUV, CX-5, whatever trim you want.
    - Best choice if you need space, size and towing without going to a truck sized vehicle, Highlander.
    (All of the above have better reliability than Nissan)
    When you are spending the kind of money that goes out the door on a loaded or nearly loaded vehicle in this class, you can't ignore long term reliability track records. I get that you are, like several other car reviewers, trying to stick to what is on the window sticker but come the hell on. NOTHING from Nissan or Infinity is at all in the same overall quality realm as a Toyota. So you go buy a Nissan, you replace the transmission at least once under warranty, then you can't get rid of the thing to save your life? Did you get it more for the financing rate you could get? You buy a car to buy a car. You should NOT be buying a finance package that comes with a free car.
