@norfolkdash9 makes things run smoother as well as a little cleaner it seems like when i run it with the pump turned up it doest pour quite as much smoke. it also give some better economy not real sure why exactly, and it also boosts the cetane level of the fuel which is similar to octane ratings for gasoline so it gives it a bit more power not sure what number would look like on a dyno but it feels like its got a little more get up and go to it
turning up the pump makes a big difference. also advancing the timing makes a difference. My 93 has that and then I got 150 hp injectors, upgraded turbo, 3200 rpm gov spring, and 4" turbo back exhaust. because of all that it really goes
I built the exhaust. There are a few companys that sell a dual stack kit for around 5 to 6 hundred. The injectors go for 6 to 1200 depending on who makes them.
@norfolkdash9 yes idk if i would really consider it a huge difference mostly it is because i keep my foot out of it when i get that i dont mash it to the floor accelerating but the fuel additive makes things run smoother because diesel fuel when these 1st gens came out had a high lubricity lvl compared to the ultra low sulpher stuff stuff that is sold now a day
Its only real loud if the rear slider is open. If the truck is shut totally up it is no louder then stock exhaust. Witht the side windows down it sounds good but you still can carry on a regular conversation.
93 is the first year of the newer style head covers. It no longer has the six little caps, the 93 has a sleek one peace cover. So I would guess the engine is also changed slightly.
@norfolkdash9 my truck is mostly stock ad i have smallish tires on it and my truck has the highway gears which are 3:73's i belive and if i run some fuel additive called diesel kleen (comes in a silver bottle) and im crusing down a flat highway doing 65 i get anywhere from 25-28 mpg average but when i take road trip i turn it down to stock pretty uch for the fuel mileage but when im around home here i have it turned up i get anywhere from 12-20 depending on how i drive it
@pyromv07 Ok, I know we use additive for our 1980's tractor cuz it leaks diesel like a damn faucet leak. But yea it apprently thickens the fuel. What are some advantages to it though?
Hi there, have you touched the smoke screw. Just wondering if it can damage the engine. ie burn up a piston etc. I was told that if you turn it clockwise for a little more off the line power it leans out the mixture and can burn up a piston. Wonder what your advise is. thanks
lol the iveco's are POS im on a custom harvest crew we run 7 combinesCEAS IH 6088s and 7088s and a 7120 with the iveco. and it sucks. lol seeing how our 60 and 70s hv the cummins and are chiped and can walk all over the 7120. o and sweet 1st gen i have a 92 W350 back home just waiting for me. looking for new injectors but dk what to go wit. how is your egt wit the injecors you hv.
I agree, I would rather buy a stock truck, which this was, but I would not drive a stock truck. I own 3 of these, some were stock, I can not drive them stock, they are just to numb. I drove my 92 at stock settings for a while towing a 5th wheel. Didn't take me long to grind the fuel cone, adjust maximum rpm and put a better turbo on it. As far as stacks through the bed,, I like them on this truck. My 89,, no way. Its mine, its up to me.. I am also far from a kid, and I have all my teeth.
you don't gotta worry about miles on a IL-6 diesel. They will run forever if you feed it oil and diesel, and change oil and filters they will keep going forever. A IL-6 has less parts then a V8 diesel so less work to keep it going long as the guy that owned it took cear of it dont worry about it.
@1958johndeere620 My dad has a Power Ram 3500 from the same year, stock and it get 17 city and 20 highway. They're tough old trucks, but they're alotta money.
Love how much it torques when the throttle is stepped on.
the last of the real trucks. nice one i have a 92 same truck bad frame 5 speed 4 wheel drive runs great, cant give it up, ac still works. r 12 system.

This one has the stock downpipe and transfer case pipe. Then goes to 4 inch flex to the body. Stacks are 5 inch.

Wow literally my dream truck sounds amazing
The stacks bro 😩 so hot
Stacks are over-used causae there so fkin sweet,... nice first gen man

great looking 1st gen! Sounds great. i do think a lift and bigger tires would do it justice though.

Thanks, I like it. I was unsure if I would like it being loud. I was surprised at how quiet in the cab it is.
Gotta love works in progress. The only way I can afford cool stuff is build it myself.
@1958johndeere620 i had a 92 dauly with the fuel turned to it with 410 gears and it got 20 21
@DodgeCumminsMan56 Well, my 89 has advanced timing and the 93 does not. That for sure makes the 89 louder under the hood.
@pyromv07

that IS my dream truck.

thanks
The tips came from a heavy service parts store. A frieght liner dealership I think.
This thing sounds wicked ass fuck man, good work. I cant wait to get mine.
I love your truck, thanks for sharing.!

@ultraclassic1987 Sure, with 3.54 gears.
gotta love that black smoke

Awesome! Sounds and looks great!

@norfolkdash9 on the highway where its flat i get 28 mpg
i love the first gens

@pyromv07
Would you recommend it for a powerstroke?
@pyromv07
So the diesel additive helps the mileage?
How does the suspension work and the ride quality?
@ultraclassic1987 Shit, I'm lucky to get 18 with 3.54s, but having that 5 speed probably makes a difference.
Not true. They all have 6 covers, just the intercooled engines from 91.5 up had the trim cover over the top. It covers the 6 individual covers.
@norfolkdash9 This one gets 16 to 18.5
@Brye95 This one has 137,000 now.
sweeeeeet richie
Low to high and everything in between. I have seen them go for 18k down to a few hundred bucks.
What kind of gas mileages do cummins get?
looks awweeeesssoooommmee :D
cmns2500
@1958johndeere620
Ah wow, not too bad!
Yes!
First of all, Im not a " DUDE ". Second, W stands for 4 wheel drive and D stands for 2 wheel drive.
@pyromv07
What the hell, who are you? And theres no way you get 28mpg.
Only cummins you dont get that sound from a duramax or powerstroke
@mydogisjohn Rides like a horse drawn wagon.
God the smokestacks are so overused
Nope on both questions.
Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one and most of them stink.
I don't. Sorry.
She ain't pretty. Still rusty and multi colored. It should get painted this summer I hope.
