This is the real heartbeat of America
Beautiful
How do you prevent rainwater (or leaves) from filling up in the stacks and possibly hydrolocking the engine?
It won't ever get to hydrolock stage. I have had some get in there and freeze. I don't run the truck in the winter due to corrosion. I drilled a pinhole in the lowest bend in the exhaust. These have been uncovered for almost 20 years.
Also look in my channel, there is a video of running after a rainstorm. It makes a black mess.
@@1958johndeere620 interesting, thanks. Do you park it inside or outside during winter? My truck sees long periods of no use while parked outside. By long periods, I mean, it’s been 2 years at this point 🤣 my chevy is a project to say the least
@@jhsevs Its always outside, no space for it inside. Needs new paint again, been like 15 years of sun damage. It is what it is, an old truck.
Watching this video today. I realize you driving this 93 back in 09 is the equivalent of me driving a 2008 dodge today… Holy shit we’re getting old
And when I drive it today I look like an old redneck. Chrome stacks and all. LOL!.
@@1958johndeere620 You still have it? Phenomenal. You’ve got me looking up 1st gen Cummins’ on marketplace lol
@@haroldmccarty1333 Yup, still have 3 of them. My 89,92,and this 93.
Nice, usually when i find old vids i can never tell if the guy threw the truck away! keep 'em flying man!
I remember first seeing this video when I was a Sophomore in high school. I drive a Duramax now, and have pretty much gotten over the Cummins hype, but I still come back to this video every now and then to hear this sweet beast sing 🤙🏼
I have 2 Duramax 1tons I plow and sand with. I am not anti dmax or pwrstroke . But these 12v sound better for sure.
How u doing mann long time no see keep it up i miss this truck.
Getting by so far. Not much to film.
Looks like you have been very busy there, I noticed the tower and antenna also. Best of luck.
Yes sir Larry. I removed the tree's because my 35 foot Rohn 25g used for my 10 meter vertical is going higher. I am adding 20 feet to it. These tree's were in the way of doing that. Time to go.
If u had any idea what u were doing u woukdnt be running that pile of shit to redline every time u shift, an inline six has no torque at high rpm so u are just wasting fuel and being retarded
Nice video of a oldie.😊
Thanks!
Your welcome, catch ya on 52 sometime maybe.
I remember this truck well. One of my favorites from 10 plus years ago! Glad to see it still going strong!
Its in need of another paint job, but still goes good. It see's very little use, but I try to drive it a few hundred miles every year. I don't tow with it any more. The clutch is on its last legs, no slip, just very grabby. It will not back up smoothly. Its either engaged or disengaged. Bucks like hell.
The Christopher is my father, Isaac’s, boat. I’m doing a video for him on all of the lobster boats he and my grandfather built. I was wondering if I could add a clip of your video of his boat racing to mine? I will add you in the credits.
You use anything you would like.
Very good. Could you disclose where you bought your pipes and supplies? Thanks
I drove to a freightliner dealer. They had everything I needed.
@@1958johndeere620brother 15 years later and you’re still replying you sir are a real one
Sounds great my friend
Where did you get this exhaust kit at ? Or homemade ?
Made it.
man i cant keep my pants on while watching this
I love how this sounds so similar my mate's well built TD42 Patrol. Greetings from down under!
You cant beat those old first gens
I just bought this motor on summit about 6 wks ago. It arrived in 3 days summit to Oklahoma. It's a strong little SB without a doubt.
I’m thinking of buying the same one from Summit. How happy are you with it now that you have had it a while and am assuming put some good miles on it. Can you share your thoughts on it as a follow up review?
@@gregsgarage1963 I've had it a little while now and am overly happy with it. The minor issue I had with the carb was handled quick and easy and no hassle by customer service. I've put nearly 6,000 mi on it, ran it hard, cruised it easy, and am overall happy with it. It's my first crate motor, and my first brand new motor and I will be buying another from blueprint when the time comes to pick out another.
good old 12 valve xD
This vid screams hey I wished I was a truck driver
This comment screams, hey I drink soy 8 times a day.
Unknown 804...I do the same thing and it never gets old. There's just something about a 1st Gen with that 12V Cummins putting in work that is music to my ears.
music to my ears! ❤️
makes me wanna sell my fuckin 7.3 powershit lol
Classic 12v. Love this truck
Is it a 12 or 24 valve, sounds amazing
original 12 valve
What exhaust ? Roller cam or flat ?
Idk
Hydraulic roller. It’s on the website
Aqui no Brasil não tem uma máquina assim .
Sound like a plane
How much initial timing did you set
I can't remember initial timing at idle, but vacuum unhooked I am pretty sure it was 34 btdc at 4 k. Its exactly where Blueprint tech said to put it. The timing was set by them as it was a dyno tested engine, but I pulled the distributor to prime the oil pump before start up. I wanted to see good oil pressure before cranking it up.
They keep telling me no vacuum advance 34 at 4000 also.engine won’t idle keeps diying
@@kenschreiner6465 I kept the vacuum advance unhooked. The tech said that it possibly could draw enough vacuum at wide open throttle to tickle the vacuum advance at high rpm's. He said these engines take in enough air at high rpm's that even with the throttle plates wide open it still could have a little intake vacuum. To bad your having issues, maybe a carb issue.
@@kenschreiner6465did you figure it out? Instructions for BP from the website says 14 degrees at idle/initial and 34 degrees total timing @3500 rpm. Runs good for me, had to adjust AFR and idle screw
@@nathandeleeuw281 I timed it at 3500 34’ degrees idle is about 14 runs fine now starts right up
I bought the same motor a month ago, we are going to start it up tomorrow, mine dyno sheet was 453 hp, 490 tq....its in a 55 Chevy 210 2 door post.
I am waiting for one more part to show up and will be installing a tremec TKX 5 speed. This engine ate the Saginaw 4 speed for lunch. Have been waiting 6 months for parts.
@@1958johndeere620 I drove mine today for around 5 miles....VERY powerful engine....the torque is incredible in my 55 Chevy....I have a Hughes 2500 converter....and it hits hard when you get on it a little....I have to drive mild for 500 miles during breakin...I have only had it about half throttle and it is crazy powerful even at that!
@@bobsilver3983 I drove it a couple times and put it through different rpm's, throttle positions, load ect. I tried to keep the conditions always changing. Dad does get on it some, and he is the one who broke the saginaw power shifting to 2nd, but most of the time he is just puttin around. He is chomping at the bit for the parts to get here for the tranny install. He keeps telling me " I'm gonna die before I get my car back". Its very frustrating waiting for backordered parts. I can't even get started because its the slave/throwout bearing assembly I'm missing. Kinda need that to even get started.
@@1958johndeere620 I have had pretty good luck getting most of my parts through Summit, and some stuff that was on "backorder", I looked on eBay and it was there...so I have bought many things for my 55 on eBay.
I dont know why but to me i think it sounds like a semi with stacks and i like it

@@CAT-ow8oh I'm a legend,,,,,,,,, in my own mind. LOL!
How do u like the 383 ? Worth buying ?
Its my fathers car, I just did the install. Its nice, runs strong, but this poor boy could not afford one. It is the most powerful small block I have ever driven. The dyno was around 450 hp flywheel .
@@1958johndeere620 that’s nice . What website y’all order from ? How long did to take to ship .?

Yeah it is 🤘👍
Go buy a real semi and quit trying to make that tin can one
I love em 1st gen dodge rams 😎💪
Hey what carb are you running
manual choke vacuum secondary holley 750. It is the carb that came with the engine from Blueprint.
Hi I know you made this video a long time ago but you have the exact stack idea/look I want to put in my first gen any links or idea of where to buy the kit needed
It is not a kit. I made the setup. All the kits available are not fed in the middle. They are fed on one side, which makes the smoke delayed on one side. Mine comes up in the center of the bed, and is equal length to each stack. I just bought the elbows, straight pipe, and 2 stacks at a heavy truck dealer.
I have one for sale . In victoria bc hit me up . It's pretty clean
Stacks done right
did u have to run an electric fan ? I got a 6 blade mechanical . hoping it's enough
This runs cool, but it has a brand new Cold Case aluminum radiator.
Anybody else revisit this video several times a year just to remind themselves of this heavenly sound?
Na, I just take the truck for a ride. LOL!
You damn right ✅️ 👌
How anyone can say that a duramax or powerstroke sounds better than a cummins is beyond me. GREAT sounding truck👍👍👍
I'm from south africa and here our vans dont come with these engines they only come in 4 cylinder biggest diesel engine we have is in the Toyota landcruiser that's a v8 none turbo diesel....I would love too import one off these I love the Cummins and Detroit diesel
That there is the sound of freedom!
How are your stacks mounted in the bed?
I just took 4 regular muffler clamps, drilled the bed to pass the threaded ends through, then put the nuts on the threads that stick under the truck bed. Kinda sandwich it.
@@1958johndeere620 oh that’s easy, thanks for the quick response, I’m trying to do some on a flatbed and it’s tough lol
Made my morning on the bowl a memorable one.
Oh man I have been looking for this video for years. I watched it a few times when I was 17. Now at 29 years old.. I found it. This video made me want a Cummins pickup.
I still have all 3 of them.
Skip to 2:00 for the goodness 😋
Not usually a fan of stacks on a pickup, but damn this sounds good!!! 👌
