Sounds like no matter how many times they vote, the reds will always win, and the yellows will never accept defeat.

Being paid to vote doesn't justify breaking the rules as it is a legal vote from real people.

THANK YOU for having what I consider to be one of the best explanations of the current situation in Thailand! It's incredibly frustrating to see the throngs of "overnight experts" taking to their social media and exacerbating the problem. Also, thanks for making an effort to properly pronounce the names of the key players in this story. All day I've been hearing "THaksin ShinawatRA" and "PrayuTH" -- it's embarrassing!

Good that you agree, you should go check out RT's Pepe Escobar: Thailand's coup in four minutes.
and DONT go to Aljazeera, it appears they have sold their souls to the devil. It used to be neutral but not anymore.
Now RT is my only hope even though its RU bias but who cares, as long as its not the western powers pulling the strings.

    short summary for you all:
    - Thailand military has been long known as guardian of the Thailand, it will jump in when social unrest occurs and it was greatly influenced by the royal family.
    - All coups, if not approved by royal family, result will more likely be failed! besides that, royal family isn't like 100 years ago. they have spiritual power but not real forceful power, therefore, all generals who do coup moves always use them as primary reason. There is a secondary hidden reason behind the power grab is truly their motivation: power to control and make profit for their own. It is kind of mutual help from both sides of military and royal family.
    - If one of the princesses announced to run for PM then it means something unusual happened: my guess is the military once grabbed the power and did not let go, it has been so long or they might have pissed off the royal family. Therefore other generals might have taken side deciding to resist to current general. Or it could be because general election announced and military knows that they are about to lose power therefore another coup to restate military grab of power again.

The darker side of the story has all to do with the succession of Thailand's king. The king is old, ailing and senile. The military and Thai's elite are deeply worried about the crown prince (in hiding at a 5-star hotel in the UK at the moment) who is supported by Thaksin - their nemesis. There's a great article about the power struggle in the latest Economist

Very concise and accurate caption here. I should also add that this pattern has been repeated countless times in the past few decades. There's one person who really plays a pivotal role in all of these, The King, who is also like the guardian angel of this country; one of his unwritten role is to nod or shake his head to the coup leaders. The armed forces are always acting on his majesty's behalf, that's the foundation principle of this country. But they also play this extra role--still on his behalf--of removing extremely corrupt government which the system fail to expel. Yes Thailand is governed democratically and have elections, but until the rural people can get over electing governments that buy their votes and corrupt the hell out of people's taxes. The coup is still an instrument of last resort, it's like a unique way of balancing power between the branches of government. So in Thailand we have the Legislative, the Executive, the Judiciary as well as the extras--the Monarchy and the Army. Get it??

The unending Turmoil has to do with Siam 16th ~18th Kings breaking their "sworn promise" with Laos King SetthaThirath executed in 1560's period. This Laos King governed the old Lanxang known as Lanna's Chiangmai, he designed and built many temples in Laos, PraThatLuang is one of them, and many in Esan (old Laos), including Ayatthaya and maybe Bangkok too as good will, and he made a "sworn promise" with Siam King to "love and respect each other as brothers and sisters". Now bad Karma is after Siam.
The last Siam bad Karma was found in 1352's, lasting for several hundreds of years. She is about to experience another long bad Karma. What you saw near 2020 was just a warm-up. 2022~26 will be noticeably high tensions. This is traced by a Super-Computer.

My uncle was one of the key persons who helped planned the coup against Mrs. Yingluck, he was a very high ranking officer who had been working closely with the king for many years. The reason for the coup stems from many corruption allegations, particular the rice subsidy scheme in which Mrs. Yingluck and her exile brother Thanksin, embezzled more than 20 billion Dollars (more than 600 billion Bahts) of taxpayer's money to their offshore bank accounts. The country was pretty much polarised between the rural poor who supported this government, and the city middle class and elites who saw what was really taking place. As Thaksin's party was controlling the majority in both houses, there was no way for the government to be regulated by democratic means. In a way, the clashes between the Yellow Shirts--who are loyal to the monarchy---and the Red Shirts---supporters of Thaksin's party---were systemically organised by prominent figures behind both camps. After ruling of the high court to remove Mrs Yingluck from office, the armed forces had the legitimacy to step in. The coup is not the least bit about the preservation of power for aristocrats, but it was needed to preserve the country---when the system is broken and all else failed.

This can explain only a part of the situation here..
There was so many things miss out.. There is always have the truth behind the story. Sometimes making a decision like declare coup may seems such a dictatorship. But to make things right for just this moment is very necessary.
If he doesnt declare the road will be full of blood. The solider try not to touch this shit for over 6months .. Do you know now many innocent people were killed ? and how many farmers got suicide? It's been so long, too long, we cant continue living like this under Taksin regime, It harms us our life, our well-being, our country finances.
He corrupted the country more than 8000$Millions Bath. He gave ppl something in return to get votes from the poor and he corruptห back with so many things, the fuel, the living cost has been as twice as expensive than before.
I wish my country gets better after this, I wish all the devils will get what they have done to us to all Thais. Whoever behind all thing to break us apart shall go to HELL asap!!

    • @shetpik8686
      @shetpik8686 10 ปีที่แล้ว

And election is some sort of thing that relate to power..
People need their power.. need their name their existence to show that they are still there ,, they are thais,, they are the people of this country... thats why they cant never get out of the madness,,, but yellow shirts they fight for the country the country we are living in, the country our children will be born and live in ..
It is a big different between,,, fight for yourself and fight for the ones you love..
And taking side is sometimes base on what you get in return... this is how taksin use this weakness to be his strength.. he gives first just to get in return... easy corruption method... you buy ppl to love you you feed them then they love you back then you get their votes ... this is what really happens here..

Sherbet Pink K...and where do you suppost the government gets it's money from? They tax the working middle class. You don't know...what kind of crazy tax where imposed upon them. And the poor people are afraid of loosing the welfare programs. It's not rocket science.. If people's lives were good they wouldn't protest from whatever sides.
