They were talking about the late king's son, which is the person in this video, but it seems that you might have mistook it for the king's son's sons. It's a mistake on my part. I do not know much about his sons' as successors but he did pushed them all away and neglected them, not only them but all of us too. He even has lots of wives which is seen as quite bad by all of us since the most of the late kings weren't like this. I went to Bangkok for a week last 2017 and it was during the time when the entire country was in mourning because of the death of the king. Everyone really loved him, every tour guide we had would somehow find a way to point out some facts or location relevant to him. It was just so obvious how loved he was. As a Thai person, i value king Rama I, Rama V and Rama IX above all the other Kings. King Rama I established the Rattanakosin Kingdom and he could easily be Thailand’s greatest king. King Rama V prevented colonial expansion into the country and modernised the country. King Rama IX reigned for 70 years. When i visited Thailand with family, the Thai people were amazing and way too kind to us. My best memory was a woman who with her dog (formerly a stray) lived and worked next door to where we were staying. The dog had a literal house on the beach (included with warm sea breezes, clean water bowl, and homemade dog food), and the woman had socialized him so well that his calm nature managed to get my little cousins to stop fearing dogs. He was a sweetheart, and she was a fantastic lady who recommended us to a lot of great places. To compare that to how closed off and suppressive the monarchy is, its like night and day.
As one of the Thai natives, this is completely true and not outrageous at all. Just a story... When we were travelling in Thailand, I was surprised that the picture of the late King Bhumibol was scattered around Thailand... At first I thought that he was the current king. I researched about him and found out that King Bhumibol is already dead and his son King Rama X was their current king. I was confused about on how they loved their previous king than King Rama. Until I actually asked one of the locals (our van driver) why King Bhumibol's picture was seen throughout the whole country and why they don't post King Rama X' photo... He said that King Bhumibol was the best king they ever had. He changed Thailand and made a huge difference. Then, I asked how their current king was doing. He said "Honestly, I dont think he deserves to be a king.. I was dissapointed on how he just acted. We have a law that we shall not say any negative things about the administration. It's sad that he and his father was completely opposite." And what he said just shocked me because Thailand has rich culture, very nice people and stunning attraction. I am a British Buddhist and visited Thailand back in the mid-90s. I visited temples and went to Pattaya and visited that incredible Buddhist statue on the hill - I love the place and its beautiful people. And yet I was not aware that the king was what I see in this video the total antithesis of what it is to be a Buddhist. I remember being in Thailand in 2005 with the Marines. One of our Marines looked remarkably like Rama 9. Everywhere we went the locals would notice this. It lead to some great times in Thailand.

I went to Bangkok for a week last 2017 and it was during the time when the entire country was in mourning because of the death of the king. Everyone really loved him, every tour guide we had would somehow find a way to point out some facts or location relevant to him. It was just so obvious how loved he was. When i visited Thailand with family, the Thai people were amazing and way too kind to us. My best memory was a woman who with her dog (formerly a stray) lived and worked next door to where we were staying. The dog had a literal house on the beach (included with warm sea breezes, clean water bowl, and homemade dog food), and the woman had socialized him so well that his calm nature managed to get my little cousins to stop fearing dogs. He was a sweetheart, and she was a fantastic lady who recommended us to a lot of great places. To compare that to how closed off and suppressive the monarchy is, its like night and day.

Just a story... When we were travelling in Thailand, I was surprised that the picture of the late King Bhumibol was scattered around Thailand... At first I thought that he was the current king. I researched about him and found out that King Bhumibol is already dead and his son King Rama X was their current king. I was confused about on how they loved their previous king than King Rama. Until I actually asked one of the locals (our van driver) why King Bhumibol's picture was seen throughout the whole country and why they don't post King Rama X' photo... He said that King Bhumibol was the best king they ever had. He changed Thailand and made a huge difference. Then, I asked how their current king was doing. He said "Honestly, I dont think he deserves to be a king.. I was dissapointed on how he just acted. We have a law that we shall not say any negative things about the administration. It's sad that he and his father was completely opposite." And what he said just shocked me because Thailand has rich culture, very nice people and stunning attraction. I just hope that Thailand would be in better hands. Or atleast King Rama X would be a better model of the future leaders to come...

I am a British Buddhist and visited Thailand back in the mid-90s. I visited temples and went to Pattaya and visited that incredible Buddhist statue on the hill - I love the place and its beautiful people. And yet I was not aware that the king was what I see in this video the total antithesis of what it is to be a Buddhist. I can only hope that someday soon, the people of Thailand will wake up to a more kindly and compassionate king!!

I am a Malaysian here. When i first went to Betong town in Thailand. I remember King Bhumibol. That is my favourite King. I still keep the Thai banknotes with the image of the former King Bhumibol. Thailand is my favourite place on earth. I visited during the time of mourning for the former King and it was so obvious how loved he was. The new King truly does not appreciate the people and the beauty of his own country and this breaks my heart. Sadly due to issues with my health I may never see Thailand again but it will always have a special place in my heart 💕🙏

I lived in Thailand during the reign of his father, an honestly, I think he (Rama IX) is probably the best king there ever was
We were at a hospital in Bangkok when the then, Crown Prince, came striding down the hall with his well-armed bodyguards. All the Thai people dropped to their knees to honor him. We didn't know just exactly what we should so we just stood there. He didn't take notice of us at all.
He was there visiting his actress partner who had birthed another baby for him.
I miss the old King so much. He reminded me of my father who passed away in 2011
