- For seven years, Cindy James told police she was being stalked. She claimed she received chilling phone calls, threatening letters and dead cats thrown onto her front lawn.
Cindy said she was stabbed, strangled and her home was set on fire - after phone lines had been cut. When the Vancouver nurse’s lifeless body was found two weeks after she went missing, and no suspects, a coroner’s inquest was called in hopes of solving the mystery of who killed Cindy James?

Exactly! She tied her hands behind her back after having injected herself with a drug and a dosage that would have rendered her unconscious in a few seconds. How on earth does that make any sense whatsoever?

You're 100% right. Part 2 has never been released but in other videos it says she did all that to herself and died of a morphine overdose she ingested orally.
This woman went through hell and even so called friends did nothing to help her. She was on her own through this nightmare and what about her neighbours comment "we were shocked at the murder". What did you think the end result was going to be after the years of torment. I watch a lot of these crime documentaries and particularly through this period the police have been sorely lacking in providing protection.

All right, I’m 15 minutes in and I’m pissed off. These people are being way too casual. This woman was in extreme danger, and they couldn’t understand that? The cop moved in with her? What on earth is going on here?
It was the 80's. We didn't even have stalking laws back then. Crimes against women were pushed under the rug. It was a different time. Luckily we've come a long way since then. Not just with DNA and other technologies, but in the way we view crimes against women. Like stalking, domestic violence and sexual violence. We take them more seriously now.
This was thoroughly investigated including wiretaps, surveillance and undercover operations. Sadly, this woman had serious emotional problems that ended in suicide. Had her mental problems been addressed earlier the outcome might have been different.
They were in a relationship.

The police were yet again useless. The obvious person is the ex husband as he knows her routine but I haven’t a clue who but it can’t be suicide. The killer needs to be caught

The first minute of this episode reminded me of nearly 40 years ago when I was a student nurse, all the strange things were happening in the nurses home where I lived. There were fires, a female security guard was bashed up in the stairwell… multiple bomb scares, and other very strange incidents.
Someone became suspicious about the female security guard, and the police searched her garbage bin outside of her home, and found cut up newspapers, which they connected with notes that had been written to the hospital in the form of threats (using letters and words from the newspapers)
She was a psychopath, and had inserted herself into all the events as a heroine.

BC RCMP are no better today.
They spent over $1 million investigating her claims, even putting her husband and two other suspects under extensive surveillance.
How much further should they have gone, especially when time and again they can never find physical evidence?

Very bizarre case, my first thought was she was doing this to herself, injuries could be self inflicted, basement set ablaze from inside, never any fingerprints or DNA found - but then when she is found hogtied?? Hmmmm?? Interesting to see what the conclusion is...a real who done it!!! Poor woman, hope she is Resting In Peace.

Having now watched both Pt 1&2 of Cindy's story (pt 2 aired on tv here last week), it's so VERY hard to believe (as suggested by a # of ppl in the story) that Cindy did this to herself! I know it's possible, but seems so unlikely that anyone would do this to themselves, altho I do know that a mind that is not functioning properly certainly can do things that make ZERO sense to us "clear thinking" persons. I wish the conclusion of the story left us with clear answers on exactly what occured, but, such was not the case. However these awful things occured to her in life, either by her own hand, or that of others, I am SO SORRY for what she experienced while alive here on earth and am glad she is resting peacefully now, free of all the hardship & misery she knew in this world.
It's absolutely absurd that anyone suggest she did this to herself! There's already enough evidence to conclude she did not kill herself!

They tried to say she suffered from Munchausen syndrome. And maybe it's true but the case it's self is very odd

@@MaryJane-qq9mmYou're wrong. I was there. Tragic but self inflicted. Undiagnosed mental illness that also hurt a lot of other people along the way. Had those close to her focused on her mental illness instead of her stories, the outcome might have been different.

When her body was found she was hogtied and her hands were tied so tightly that one of her fingernails dug a hole into her other hand down to the bone. She was also found laying on her right side, but the blood pooling that occurs after death was all on her left side, indicating she was moved after death. She also had a legal dose of 3 different drugs in her system. The amount of morphine alone would have rendered her unconscious very quickly. Almost impossible she did this to herself.
She couldn't have hog-tied herself! Always look at the ex!!

I was convinced by the book that poor Cindy was a bizarre troubled mentally ill person. Her husband certainly didn't commit the attacks himself. There was one detail that totally convinced me that Cindy did all these things herself. That detail is that Cindy was found alone in her car at a remote UBC parking lot at 3 AM by UBC campus police and she did not provide any explanation of what she was doing there. It's a bizarre case but the likeliest explanation is some strange mono-mania in the mind of Cindy James.
