    At 3:17, you mentioned "blood", you dont refer to the kidneys do you? Because ive often already heard people talk about the small red strip along the backbone talk about it as "blood", which in fact are the fishs kidneys

    Check out th-cam.com/video/4c0AZFz6rjU/w-d-xo.html How to Debone a trout .. i think you just have an appropriate knive for severing the ribs and the ripcage

    With specks that size I will just butterfly and cut the head. Once the fish is cooked you can pinch your index finger and thumb against the start of the spine just behind where the head was and usually every single bone (rib cage included) will come right out in one piece, and you have a perfectly boneless fried brook trout.

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, me the same! I also forgot to demo a trout steak...! But you're right, I will usually just gut and cook and pull the bone out while eating it, so simple!

    Very nice and delicious trouts. Here in Finnish Lapland we have same, small trouts which is called here "tammukka" . We put them on frying pan with butter and then we will eat them with head and ribs.
    The best fish for all meals☺ You are a lucky guy. Regards from Finnish Nothern Lapland.

    Have you ever tried the Native American method? It involves you basically shucking the meat right out of there skin leaving just the meat in one hand and the guts and skin in the other hand can clean a fish in 10 seconds doing it.

    Awesome tutorial! That was really helpful and well presented. Thanks so much!! At 5:08, you throw the guts into the water and there's a delay between them landing and the ripples on the water. Did they roll into the water or did someone grab them? ;)

      Haha, I didn't notice! Maybe I just threw them up like superman...to the moon and back haha.

    Back at the old fishing hole; there must be an endless supply of fish up stream & down stream waiting to replace the ones you poll out. Thanks for the preparation discussion. Brian 76

    Found for me it's easier to cook them with the bones in. Then gently slide my fork down the rib cage on the top side. Eat that fillet. Then just take the head and lift it with the ribs and backbone. Making my second fillet right there on the plate ready to eat. Not sure if it makes sense, but sure works well streamside.

    Thanks for the vid! What would you suggest for the fish soup with the heads? Just toss them in boiling water and drink the broth?

    The bones in trout are just such a pain in the ass to get rid off....

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually don't do much with them, and just eat around the bones! But they are so small that filleting them is such a huge waste.

  • @johnlord8337
    @johnlord8337 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    ? No splitting the head and frying up the little fish cheeks? Like salmon these are tasty little morsels. Or, just toss them into a fish head soup, and the meat falls off.
    Newest news. Chondroitin (old age body rebuilder) glucosamine, MSM, hyaluronic acid, is the actual shells of crabs, lobsters, crayfish, and shrimp. Crispy fry these up and eat them. The same for the fins and tails of trout/salmon, good for the body.
    Gotta do that fishing pole eyelet pushed down the spine/ribs, and it comes out very clean. Can toss the spine/ribs into the fish soup.

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking about that one! Still have to give it a shot. I think you need to let the fish rot a little bit or else the bones like to stay stuck to the flesh?

    • @johnlord8337
      @johnlord8337 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Proper fishing pole eyelet size, trout pole for trout, salmon pole for salmon. Properly works the bones from the meat. Don't jab/force the eyelet down the spine, but work wiggle-waggle the eyelet left-right, up-down the ribs. No biggie if ~some~ meat is on the bones, just do, and then toss the bones and attached meat into the stew pot, and all else easily falls off. When trained in this, can do a trout in 10 seconds.
