Why aren’t teachers trained in the same way?
    One sendco for all children.
I’m appalled in the lack of knowledge teachers have.
I am a parent with a son just diagnosed and it’s incredibly difficult to understand.
The headteacher didn’t even know my son has got an EHCP with nothing to support him done since September and wants to exclude him.
Where do I get help please I’m struggling myself x

I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through that, it's incredibly frustrating. There does seem to be a complete lack of knowledge and understanding when it comes to DLD in particular but also a lot of other SEND. That's also mind blowing that the Head teacher didn't know that you child had an EHCP I can totally understand how that would make you feel.
There is support out there, we offer a wide range of things from a free cuppa and chat to a paid advocacy service. Have a look at sunshine-support.org.uk there is also plenty more on this channel that can help as well

I feel that the Developmental in DLD is Inaccurate because, its not just during childhood, this will last your whole life.

It's because it's during a child's development that the differences develop, and then they last a lifetime.

Is it possible to change your opening slide where it calls Developmental Language Disorder, 'Delayed Language Distorder' thank you.

Hi Amanda, we're not sure we can change the slide but we'll see what we can do to amend and correct this information! 💛

I am experiencing it even as an adult, does it have a cure?

Dont know if you found out but it stays forever but becomes easier and no cure yet known

No, it's a developmental disorder but with the right interventions and support it can absolutely improve as you're able to find ways to manage it.

This or any other video on the same topic is not telling if a child with the disorder does speak at home or not.
