    I'll tell you exactly what Honda has done with this bike. They have made a really fun dirt bike to ride. It's got plenty of power. It is stable and balanced. It's got pretty good valving in the forks until you start hitting some square edges out here in the desert at slower speeds. It's got a pretty good front brake, but tends to be a little grabby at times.
    The bike has so much potential and I really, really love how it makes me feel when I'm riding it. I do wish honda would have put a 6 speed in this bike, but overall, I really like this machine.
    On this outing, I've also got the 450RX with me and will be able to ride them both on the same loop back to back. Stay tuned for more content from this day!

    Excellent footage, as always. Quick question: do you "burn in" brakes on new bikes? A half dozen or so high-speed, heavy applications of the brakes can help alleviate some of the grabbiness (if that's a word). Also, the 450's rotating mass may also be offsetting some of the 250's grabby tendencies.
    One more Q: have you tested identical bikes in different environments? I'm curious if your reviews may differ in areas closer to sea level and in tight, wooded confines.

    • @yukonjon5964
      @yukonjon5964 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At first i thought it needs stiffer rebound in the rear, but you may be right. either way, its clearly not balanced between compression and rebound. too much motion for the terrain and speeds shown. how about... more low speed compression to slow the bouncing, less hi speed compression to help on the rocks, and less rebound to keep it from packing.
      maybe too, the stiff fork valving is messing up the rear action. its reacting to the front not settling in, so is squatting more at the back. if so, raise the fork tubes, lessen rear sag and put on a longer chain to get the wheelbase out another inch.
      I have really made handling gains by keeping the chain tensioner all the way back towards the axle stop, by using different length chains as they wear. makes the bike longer and puts more weight on the fork. Honda just shortened this chassis by an inch, so doing this could be key for all 22 250's, plus 21 and 22 450"s.

    YOU KNOW i have no idea where you are riding AND i am seeing thousands of new dirt bike videos shot similar to yours (OH and yours is a great informative video) BUT I AM WARNING ALL OF YOU..... You guys look exactly like we did in the 60`s and 70` here in So CAL, yes we use to be able to ride from our garage to the hills and ride all day, for miles basically from Yorba Linda to Riverside, all HOMES and residential streets NOW. There was a time where you could race Ascott, Thursday, Corona(my first race) Friday then the weekend there were multiple tracks, Saddleback, Escape Country, De Anza and some trippy mini bike parks in Cypress ALL GONE except for a few AND I NEVER SEE DIRT BIKES IN TRUCKS IN THE OC ANYMORE, maybe 1 or 2. MEANING soon all of you will see the end as well ITS INIEVITABLE and I don't know how to stop it. SO enjoy all of you BECAUSE just like me HERE in the OC IT WILL ALL BE GONE SHORTLY.......

      The pattern is amazing isn't it. They close a riding area do to some made up reason, then 20 years later they put houses on it.

      @@motofunk1 10-4 the SICK part is in 1969 we saw the hills being destroyed and SCREMED stop. Mother Earth would rather have dirt bikes than more people and development AND PROVES MODERNS` don't care about the environment as well. OH we also screamed in 1974 that all should drive manual 4 cylinder trucks and we would not be in the current energy crisis. BUT it seems you are aware AND I hope you guys can do something differently than my LOVELY So Cal....
