Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity? Insanity is doing the exact same fucking thing over and over again, expecting shit to change. That. Is. Crazy. The first time somebody told me that, I dunno, I thought they were bullshitting me, so, boom, I shot him. The thing is... He was right. And then I started seeing, everywhere I looked, everywhere I looked, all these fucking pricks, everywhere I looked, doing the exact same fucking thing... over and over and over and over again thinking: 'This time, it's gonna be different; no, no, no, no, no, please... This time it's gonna be different.'

Did a military program during my senior year of high school. Towards the end of the year, Sergeant goes around asking us why we want to join. Most give the basic “I want a steady job” answer, while despite being a Military kid I’m on the fence undecided. Last kid he asks, with no expression, coldly states he just wants to kill people. Didn’t believe him until he pulled a knife on a kid the last day. He ended up going in and I Found my reason not to join.

Best villain quote, Benjamin Church from Assassin’s Creed 3:
_“It's all a matter of perspective. There is no single path through life that's right and fair and does no harm…Think on that the next time you insist your work alone befits the greater good. Your enemy would beg to differ - and would not be without cause.”_

    I got one for ya:
You invade this pristine world. Claiming it as your own simply by your presence. You slaughter innocent animals for their hides and their flesh. You devastate the landscape and gouge out the earth to build your momuments to vanity. And yet you call me the monster.
    I also got another!
There's no hope on the battlefield. It has nothing but unspeakable despair. Just a crime we call victory, paid for by the pain of the defeated. Yet humanity has never recognized this truth. And the reason for that is, in every era, a dazzling hero has blinded people with their legends and prevented them from seeing the evil of bloodshed. The true nature of humanity has not advanced a step beyond the Stone Age.

I always found The Father to be an interesting villain because I was playing and still found myself hard pressed to find something I disagreed with him on. The only thing we disagreed on was his use of force rather than invitation. Coercion rather than logical convincing of the masses. I think that's what makes a great villain. Someone who is right, but took the wrong path to get there. You can see both sides of the argument that way and are compelled to ask certain questions of yourself. TBH, if I met a man like The Father in real life before he was leading the gun toting congregation and was just a small town religious figure, I wonder if I would follow him. The fact that I cant readily answer that question is interesting all on its own.

Modern villains are shitty now. They have no reason to be bad, other than: “Why not? Who is going to stop me?”. Well, video game villains, they’re easier to put feelings in. Because you control their movements, what they are scripted to do. You can’t do that with people. And I’m surprised. Surprised that a Father Elijah quote wasn’t added, or maybe a Legate Lanius quote. Hell, even Ulysses. But no one likes fallout, gimmicked, beaten by games like The Last Of Us, and even that shit game called Wasteland. There’s so much detail, so much emotion put into the creation of villains, heroes, and the middleman of games. Some old games don’t get that, but when they do, it’s the voice, the obvious hate or gratitude. We don’t get that now. Just violence, endless hate, what’s good and bad? We need better villains. And better heroes. Better quotes, a reason, good reasons. Options. Options create view. The human race is built on perspective, everything we do is a matter of perspective.
So, just don’t reply. Maybe take advice, see me perspective.

Just made up some quotes for a game villain I am planning to make:
"In today's world, money is the definition of power, and those who have money in a giant mass are able to change the world's destiny, to write history, to start wars. And no matter what happens, they always profit. As for all of us, we are just pawns in their game they call "life"!"
"Our world is like a rainbow. It comes with different races, cultures, normals, planetary plains and more. Everything in the world is different, and so are we mortal beings. But the system we live in, and those with undeserved power, has set standards for us all, and in the end, mortals see the world only in black and white."

They would be more impactfull if they were shorter. When quotes are too long, it feels like rambling (which can be the intended effect depending on what villain you're writing).
First one could be something like : "with money comes power, with power, you can influence the world, and by influencing the world... you can make more money"
Second one : "we are forced by this system and its unfit rulers to see rainbows in black and white".
You don't need to explain the metaphor of the rainbow representing the diversity of our world, the image speaks for itself

You of all people should know, there’s nothing so cruel as memory. The pointy, bitey little thunderbolts. Unwanted party crashers, screamers through your synapses. Inescapable, unrelenting… not at all friendly. You can’t even escape into madness. And then you meet someone who changes your life, and you feel that you don’t even know who you are anymore. Isn’t it funny how one encounter can cleave off little pieces of your past, deform your memories and persona until you rethink your whole identity, and you realize how foolish it all is, your laughter reverberates off the walls of your own emptiness. - The Joker (Batman: Arkham Origins)

"All we need is the world to stay as it is"
Than why every goddamned Templar wants to control the ones who make the world move, the governments?
If all they need is the world to stay as it is, so they only need to spread the message throughout governments. Torres never wanted that, Rodrigo and Cesare both never wanted that, De Sable never wanted that, anyone from Abstergo's inner circle never wanted that, hell EVEN HAYTHAM HIMSELF never wanted that!
And yet Haytham is the one who spits this lie. WHY?

    • @Anubis-Barstikar

The Templars wants to end the idea of free will and liberty because they believe it is the source of chaos. Haytham makes a lot of sense, and in a way they are not wrong : dictatures prevent people from causing chaos. Now it is a choice, what do we value the most ? Our liberty or the order of all things ?

Actually a ton of terrible ones in here that are in and of themselves completely insane if you try to logic them out instead of just excepting them at face value. “Emotionally impactful”? sure. but “completely right”? Not even close.
Some here had a point but it was also mostly crazy people talking crazy shit.

Fate is fate, It doesn’t care that you think it was unfair that you were born into a life of poverty, fate Doesn’t care that your parents died in a car accident when you were five years old, it does not care about anything because it just is
So instead of fighting some thing you never even had a chance to beat in the first place, prove it wrong by breaking free of your predetermined Place in this world

General Shepherd is not a villain, he is just broken because he lost 30 thousand soldiers who trusted him. Sgt Paul Jackson and LT Vasquez both men of the army, paused their retreat to rescue pilots and due to this delay everyone lost their lives that day. Shepherd is a broken man who still carries the grief of losing his loyal soldiers who trusted him, but it still doesn't justify the fact that he hunted down the task force and betrayed and killed some of them like Ghost and Roach

Well if thats what the game confirms yes...
A psychopath or all around villain dosent have to be wrong and can sometimes say a lot of things that are true even tho they do what they do...
The cult leader Joseph Seed is directly confirmed to be right by the end of the game, so it is simply what the game says no matter how concerning one would be about it...
