Simple. They don't need a Halo killer anymore. Halo killed itself. FPS games nowadays suppose to have a large online multiplayer audience. Only Warzone/Fortnite which cross platform can create a large player pool. FPS exclusive is a thing of the past.
If Resistance came out with a new game right now, I guarantee it would thrive in today's market. But hopefully it goes back the original Resistance: Fall of Man game play style.

Resistance 3 is one of the most hard hitting games emotionally because everyone by that time was broken due to losing battles against Chimeran forces leading towards America almost being taken over.
They have to do a resistance 4 where we go behind the scenes of earth and go with a group of sentinels inveltrating the Chrimera from within and destroy their planet! Hell we might even see a resurected Hale.
I love this series. Resistance 2's multiplayer is hands down one of my fondest gaming memories...so many hours sank into that game. Personally, I'm cool if the never do a fourth game. I'd just love to see the original series given a proper remaster. Not just a shader here and a polished surface there. I mean like what Black Mesa is to the original Half-Life. I want a from the ground up rebuild for the current gen.

Resistance Fall of Man had the best online gameplay. Freedom with custom matches, and easily one of the best ways to stay communicating with other players.
i remember the days of plays with friends with 4 controller on 1 PS3 and unlimited ammo on couldn't go 10 mins in to a match till i made it rain air fuel grenades. and Resistance 2 co op the sounds of a Wraith mowing down Grim's and the Stalker overloading and blowing up. also all the co op out of map glitches back then i use to remember every glitch of the top of head i still remember some of them now. even if they don't remaster the games they should bring back the servers at least around 1000 players would come back for sure.
Thanks for bringing up a wonderful and underrated series. I have especially fond memories of the first Resistance. My very first HD tv had been delivered the day prior, a beautiful (at the time) 55" Samsung 1080p tv and the PS3 hadn't been out for long at that point. I was in training for work and it was a large and horrifically boring class. Large enough that I was able to leave at lunch time and not return and no one would be the wiser. I drove to the local walmart, bought a PS3 and a copy of Resistance, went straight home and plugged it all in. So Resistance was my very FIRST HD gaming experience and that was one of the best afternoon's of gaming I ever had. Fantastic game. I was disappointed with the mechanics changes of the 2nd game, specifically where they limited the player/Nathan Hale to only two weapons. Part of the charm of Resistance was that you carried a backpack full of insane Earthen and alien weapons. Thankfully they went back to a backpack full of destruction for Resistance 3 which I found to be the best one of the series. This is a trilogy that desperately needs a remaster for the current gen. Resistance 2 was the first game I ever played on the PS3 I can honestly legit remember it like it was yesturday me and my bro’s first got the PS3 and we put on coop mode and those grims that run at you ohh man how do I even remember my first moment on PS3. I don’t even know how I remember this now that I look back on it. This is gona be a long one. But please remaster the trilogy! I want to play all 3 Resistance games again! It needs to be a good remaster and aimed for the hardcore fans please don’t ruin it we need this remaster!! Bro after resistance 2 we got resistance 1 because the campaign was just too good and the amount of fun I had online. And then resistance 3 came out and we got that. The weapons in Resistance are far more fun, unique and innovative than any other game this side of RE4. Then there's the multiplayer, which is the most influential and original of all time. There was skill involved with every kill, weapon balancing, intricate stat coverage, huge community with multi-faceted user-interface that allowed for networking with hundreds of people at a close level through in-game friends, clans, etc. and tens of thousands more through matchmaking and global connectivity with players from different regions and continents. Battles were up to 40 players and rivalries were real and ongoing, especially considering the fact that the custom game modes were public and open to anyone from around the world to join in at anytime. There was a progression system on the most basic level; this entailed ranking up over a period of time to UNLOCK new SKINS, but there were no advantages to unlock that would put you above a players' skill level at any time. Reaching max rank was a short-term goal, yet that didn't matter because everything you do is recorded as a statistic that anyone can you on your character profile at anytime. Even little details, like how many killstreaks you've accumulated or how many headshots you have. are expressed in a creative tracking system with ribbons that are displayed on your stat sheet dossier that makes it feel like you are a real soldier. The community aspect was key because, unlike games nowadays where you only meet randoms, there was constant competition in a real time on RFOM where each and every day you were fighting for your reputation with friends and foes.

I would totally play an RTS Resistance game 👍🏼 it already has plenty of established units from both human and chimera sides to fill a game. If it has like a global campaign map where you can see the chimera advance would be awesome. An XCOM like game for Resistance i would also dig alot!
Erik Van Der Waal An X-Com kind of Game would be some what fun but, I think you can do something like X-Com but more like Command and Conquer. Build a base, researching units and conquering or protecting the world. Shit why don't they make it so you can customize units, build you own, have mods on the steam workshop page! Shit I would play for hours.
This was an amazing series and I still remember being blown away by the physics in this game. Killing a grayjack in the bunker tunnels and seeing him just kind of slumped over but still supported by his long arms and legs; getting to London and shooting the glass in the shopping district such that individual pieces break off. And the overall story was simultaneously bleak and epic, the cooperative gameplay was fun. I wish there had been more to this series.
I am really stoned and remember this being such a big part of my childhood and man do I wish I could go back to playing this on split screen with my older brother it actually makes me very sad :(
GamingBolt, great pointing out that the servers well active well into the 2010's. RFOM was active from 2006 to 2014. RFOM was the goat multiplayer. Call of Duty really sucked a big playerbase away from the game, but nowadays, it is more clear than ever that that was a mistake. RFOM is relevant now more than ever because they don't make good multiplayer these days at all.
I'd rather have another Resistance and Killzone, or basically any new, high quality, Sony exclusive FPS game than another overhyped PS4 exclusive JRPG. Seriously, PS4 has been lacking in the first-person shooter department, especially when compared to the PS3. At least Microsoft is consistent in that department.
Yeah thats sort of what I was hinting at in the beginning of the video. Most of Sony's exclusives are just different flavors of the same genre right now. I love them all, but when I look back on ps4 I dont think the lack of variety is going to age well.

Yeah, the PS4 has loads of quality titles, but its really lacking when it comes to exclusive FPS games; which is odd given how common they were on the PS3. I loved Killzone's and Resistance's campaigns (I didn't get much time to experience their multiplayer modes before the serves shut down, sadly, although what I did play was fun). Thankfully, I don't have issue with Sony churning out loads single-player third-person shooter and/or action adventure games that feature a non-open world game design, as the rest of the game market churns out open-world based single-player games, with many of them I find overwhelming (with some exceptions). But overall, Sony certainly needs more exclusive FPS games, just like Microsoft needs more IPs to be up and center next to Halo, Gears of War and Forza.
Ottsel King I heard Santa Monica Studios wanted to do a sci-fi game set in space, but it was canned during the lay-off periods following the disappointing sales of God of War: Ascension.
Finally someone brings it up. R3 left to many questions unanswered. Who were the Cloven, and why did they have special powers? Who were the owners of the Grey Tech and fought the Chimera before? How did humanity even rebuild as R3s ending credits show them doing so, but how did they overcome the Chimera who had advance tech and sheer numbers? was the Hivemind destroyed? Did shutting off the portal in NY to stop the Pure Chimera coming through have some affect on the Chimera currently on Earth?
So many great memories playing these games with my dad when I was little. I started playing them again and they're actually just as good as I remember. Hopefully the series can make some sort of return.
We just finished beating resistance 3 in superhuman today, after taking years long break and eventually almost forgetting about it, we finally picked the game up again weeks ago. I wish i could've enjoyed it more back then, but i probably wasnt even 10 yet and was considerably dumb-
Resistance Fall of Man had the best online Multiplayer I have ever played. They 100% need to Remaster this game for PS4/PS5 or at the very least bring back the online for the game. So sad how they can just completely cut it off! They could even bring it back as Remaster, but with an extra Battle Royale type game mode and sell us new skins like Fortnite just a thought.
I don’t necessarily care if they make a new Resistance game or not, but I’d love it if they brought back online multiplayer, which I sadly never got to experience as a result of only rediscovering these games within the last couple of years.
They need to finish James Grayson's story! That was a huge cliffhanger with him getting the nickname cloven killer in Russia and getting infected, possibly by Bouchard.
First game I ever played in this franchise was retribution an the psp 5 years ago. I’ve fell in love with it since, playing 2 and 3 while still trying to get my hands of fall of man. It’s a great series in my opinion and would love a remaster more then anything.
I really enjoyed resistance 3, though I never played its multiplayer as I played 3 after the servers closed. I would love to see them revive the series for ps4 or ps5.
I deeply loved the first 2, but the third one gave me a bittersweet taste. It was a pretty good game, but I felt like they rushed it out, like if they were trying to put a quick end to the trilogy. I think it deserved better

PS3 had the best first party support of any PlayStation console. I loved how diverse all the game types were and they always had a pretty healthy community of players. Hope they go back to releasing more games like that, it has been too long. Especially in the shooter realm, Sony hasn't released a FPS game in forever and they were some of my favorites of all time. Also watching this is kind of funny now after hear Colin talk about how Resistance 4 was actually pitched but it was turned down by Sony because it was too similar in theme to The Last Of Us and they didn't want the overlap and player fatigue. Hopefully this franchise can get some life someday though. After playing Rift Apart I can't help but imagine how amazing the weapons in this franchise would feel on the dualsense.
the story needs a reboot imo. I feel like so much of the story needs to be enriched and fleshed out - esp with things like what happened in that two year gap in resistance 2 and just overall world building (i know there's books but they can easily just not make them canon, lets be real)
I have all the games, books and action figures (I even have 3 limited edition regular hybrids!). The only thing I don’t have from this franchise is the comic book series they did. I’m a HUGE fan of the series (especially the first game!) and I hope every year that SONY announces either a remaster of the first game, or a sequel that ignores the events of the 3rd game. I love the 3rd game but so many things were left unanswered... This franchise needs to come back in full swing, whilst staying true to the first game: Fall of Man.

In the BTS videos you can unlock in the third game, one of the devs literally says the game came to be because someone at Sony said “We need a call of duty, what is our call of duty?” And idk I feel like that one fact there shows what their real intentions were and just how much they really care about the integrity of this series

Can we just bring back resistance 2 co op?! Please!! I got the killing machine achievement when play against others, that was such a grind!! I did platinum the game. But the co op really did it for me, I loved playing any class, because it was nice to complete the missions as a team.
My best co-op game and multiplayer, it had a wold scoreboard, Rankins, I was really competitive. I also bought the sharpshooter with the ps3 Move. Awesome game!

Resistance was definitely by far one of the best series of games. And we're still brought back to the PS3 because of it. Wish they would've at least done a trilogy port on the PS4, which we would be able to play on the PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility.
I'm 36 years old, I used to play resistance 2 online for at least 6 years. I ll buy ps4 and I'll start playing again only if there is resistance 4 at future.
Even though I still have all three games, if they came out on Steam, I'd buy them all over again just to revisit co-op. Also, I'd hope that my support would encourage a fourth game.

I don't know how many times i've played through the whole trilogy. So underrated. Much better than the plot-starved but stylish 'Halo'.
I think it was a missed opportunity, the whole "alternative history" angle was never really explored that well.

This was an amazing series and I still remember being blown away by the physics in this game. Killing a grayjack in the bunker tunnels and seeing him just kind of slumped over but still supported by his long arms and legs; getting to London and shooting the glass in the shopping district such that individual pieces break off.
And the overall story was simultaneously bleak and epic, the cooperative gameplay was fun.
I wish there had been more to this series.
Saw this for the 1st time. We can still hope. R2 cooperative and competitive are still my favorite online experiences ever.
I am really stoned and remember this being such a big part of my childhood and man do I wish I could go back to playing this on split screen with my older brother it actually makes me very sad :(

GamingBolt, great pointing out that the servers well active well into the 2010's. RFOM was active from 2006 to 2014. RFOM was the goat multiplayer. Call of Duty really sucked a big playerbase away from the game, but nowadays, it is more clear than ever that that was a mistake. RFOM is relevant now more than ever because they don't make good multiplayer these days at all.
I'd rather have another Resistance and Killzone, or basically any new, high quality, Sony exclusive FPS game than another overhyped PS4 exclusive JRPG. Seriously, PS4 has been lacking in the first-person shooter department, especially when compared to the PS3. At least Microsoft is consistent in that department.
Yeah thats sort of what I was hinting at in the beginning of the video. Most of Sony's exclusives are just different flavors of the same genre right now. I love them all, but when I look back on ps4 I dont think the lack of variety is going to age well.

Yeah, the PS4 has loads of quality titles, but its really lacking when it comes to exclusive FPS games; which is odd given how common they were on the PS3. I loved Killzone's and Resistance's campaigns (I didn't get much time to experience their multiplayer modes before the serves shut down, sadly, although what I did play was fun). Thankfully, I don't have issue with Sony churning out loads single-player third-person shooter and/or action adventure games that feature a non-open world game design, as the rest of the game market churns out open-world based single-player games, with many of them I find overwhelming (with some exceptions). But overall, Sony certainly needs more exclusive FPS games, just like Microsoft needs more IPs to be up and center next to Halo, Gears of War and Forza.

Ottsel King I heard Santa Monica Studios wanted to do a sci-fi game set in space, but it was canned during the lay-off periods following the disappointing sales of God of War: Ascension.
Finally someone brings it up. R3 left to many questions unanswered. Who were the Cloven, and why did they have special powers? Who were the owners of the Grey Tech and fought the Chimera before? How did humanity even rebuild as R3s ending credits show them doing so, but how did they overcome the Chimera who had advance tech and sheer numbers? was the Hivemind destroyed? Did shutting off the portal in NY to stop the Pure Chimera coming through have some affect on the Chimera currently on Earth?
A remake of the first three games plus a new fourth part would be awesome.

Tbh. The resistance series ended well with Resistance 3. While I would've loved to see a fourth one, it still is a solid trilogy that holds its own.
So many great memories playing these games with my dad when I was little. I started playing them again and they're actually just as good as I remember. Hopefully the series can make some sort of return.
We just finished beating resistance 3 in superhuman today, after taking years long break and eventually almost forgetting about it, we finally picked the game up again weeks ago. I wish i could've enjoyed it more back then, but i probably wasnt even 10 yet and was considerably dumb-

Resistance Fall of Man had the best online Multiplayer I have ever played. They 100% need to Remaster this game for PS4/PS5 or at the very least bring back the online for the game. So sad how they can just completely cut it off! They could even bring it back as Remaster, but with an extra Battle Royale type game mode and sell us new skins like Fortnite just a thought.
This game really save Sony lineup during PS3 launch in 2006 againts Xbox 360 Gears of War.

It had it's run and they knew when to end it. Not everything has to overstay it's welcome like other series.

First game I ever played in this franchise was retribution an the psp 5 years ago. I’ve fell in love with it since, playing 2 and 3 while still trying to get my hands of fall of man. It’s a great series in my opinion and would love a remaster more then anything.

I deeply loved the first 2, but the third one gave me a bittersweet taste. It was a pretty good game, but I felt like they rushed it out, like if they were trying to put a quick end to the trilogy. I think it deserved better

Resistance: Fall of Man was the best game I’ve played on the PlayStation 3
PS3 had the best first party support of any PlayStation console. I loved how diverse all the game types were and they always had a pretty healthy community of players. Hope they go back to releasing more games like that, it has been too long. Especially in the shooter realm, Sony hasn't released a FPS game in forever and they were some of my favorites of all time. Also watching this is kind of funny now after hear Colin talk about how Resistance 4 was actually pitched but it was turned down by Sony because it was too similar in theme to The Last Of Us and they didn't want the overlap and player fatigue. Hopefully this franchise can get some life someday though. After playing Rift Apart I can't help but imagine how amazing the weapons in this franchise would feel on the dualsense.
the story needs a reboot imo. I feel like so much of the story needs to be enriched and fleshed out - esp with things like what happened in that two year gap in resistance 2 and just overall world building (i know there's books but they can easily just not make them canon, lets be real)

I have all the games, books and action figures (I even have 3 limited edition regular hybrids!). The only thing I don’t have from this franchise is the comic book series they did. I’m a HUGE fan of the series (especially the first game!) and I hope every year that SONY announces either a remaster of the first game, or a sequel that ignores the events of the 3rd game. I love the 3rd game but so many things were left unanswered... This franchise needs to come back in full swing, whilst staying true to the first game: Fall of Man.

In the BTS videos you can unlock in the third game, one of the devs literally says the game came to be because someone at Sony said “We need a call of duty, what is our call of duty?” And idk I feel like that one fact there shows what their real intentions were and just how much they really care about the integrity of this series

Alright...no place for a Resistance 4 title, but that doesn't mean they had to kill the multiplayer of the 3 prior titles. Gosh, what in the hell has happened? I only came across the Resistance series in 2018 and the servers were already offline by then...I absolutely loved the series. It sucks I came too late
Can we just bring back resistance 2 co op?! Please!! I got the killing machine achievement when play against others, that was such a grind!! I did platinum the game. But the co op really did it for me, I loved playing any class, because it was nice to complete the missions as a team.

My best co-op game and multiplayer, it had a wold scoreboard, Rankins, I was really competitive.

Resistance was definitely by far one of the best series of games. And we're still brought back to the PS3 because of it. Wish they would've at least done a trilogy port on the PS4, which we would be able to play on the PS5 thanks to backwards compatibility.

I'm 36 years old, I used to play resistance 2 online for at least 6 years. I ll buy ps4 and I'll start playing again only if there is resistance 4 at future.
Resistance 2 was my first PS3 game. I hope it returns.
Even though I still have all three games, if they came out on Steam, I'd buy them all over again just to revisit co-op. Also, I'd hope that my support would encourage a fourth game.
