Betsy adapted the design to better fit her needs, with the help from her brother. Lifestyle Design Service drew the final plans with alterations & additions.
Betsy downsized to make things simpler. The house is only 950 square feet, but feels bigger thanks to the vaulted ceilings, pocket doors and the natural light coming in from the skylights. Betsy shipped in white ceder shakes from Canada for the siding. Her kitchen counter tops were hand crafted locally in Maryville from black ash, as well as the mantle, made from Walnut. Wood from the fence on her previous property was used for the range hood and was also whitewashed for the wooden wall behind the master bed.

tiny is generally defined at 400 square feet or less. at 950 sq ft, this wouldn't qualify.

Hi Betsy, I’ve been a missionary here in Alaska the last 15 years. And never had a house of my own. I am hoping to buy some property and build a house. But I wasn’t sure what I even wanted my house to look like. I would hope it looks like this and could be built like this. Make her an offer she can't refuse.
Asking for a price comes from a psychological need to feel dominant, out of a psychological insecurity about one's superiority. Seeing that this is a top comment, it's obvious society is full of people with major insecurities.
If she gives you a low number, you feel accomplished and powerful and rich and dominant. It reduces this nice lady to just being a number you can buy. Distasteful.
If she gives you a high number, then she becomes the target of hate mail in the comments, with comments saying "how dare you charge so much...", and they'll find negative things to get her price down.
The mob is never friendly. Consumerism is driven by ego and jealousy.
This is a perfect case study for anthropologists, economists, sociologists, and psychologists....

Most of the people who are asking for her "price" probably will not even put in an offer, regardless of the price... Otherwise if you really wanted the house, you would have posted your offer immediately without asking for the price.
Asking for a price is just a way to indirectly get affirmation that "I'm better/ richer/ more successful than you".
It's no different than asking people "what's your salary".
Distasteful.

Nothing rude about that question. Just someone who wants to know if it’s something they might be able to do themselves (or weigh the pros and cons of a new build vs existing home). I love looking at homes on TH-cam and never understand why realtors will go through the trouble of making a nice video and not include the price.

I would estimate at least $500K. It’s very custom-built. But it’s absolutely gorgeous even at that price.

Have him do a parasite detox. A dog dewormer works. Sounds crazy but google it and you’ll understand There are hundreds of cancer cures that big pharmaceutical companies won’t allow on the market. Look up Dr. Sebi. I had two terminal cancers and skipped chemo and radiation, went holistic and I’m writing this 12 years later. Also buy vitamin B17 in its natural form and start taking it right away.

I love the tiny house. I would love to live in a community of tiny house. I had to take disapply at 40 years because of a lung disease. When tiny house first came out the price seemed okay. Now someone like is priced out of this market. I love looking at the tiny house especially with the bedroom downstairs!

Tiny homes are too small for me. But a small home under 1000 sq ft.with attached garage is perfect. You want a large retirement home you can find them everywhere. We want compact. Builders are not interested in constructing small home communities. Townships, towns aren't talking about building stationary small homes. Don't need or want wheels.

@@mardyneszelc9771I think tiny homes were a way to get around the requirements for a foundation by putting them on a trailer. I really prefer small houses which are usually 500-1000 sq ft. A lot of them were cheaply built to solve a housing shortage right after World War Two, but it would be nice to see them come back and this floor plan is really nice
What a warm and inviting home inside and out! You’ve done a wonderful job with 950 sq ft🥰🥰🥰. I had a “tiny house” before they were a thing when I was first married 32 years ago. We called it the house of porches as we added a 3 season porch out back and big aluminum awning in front with a patio and seating area. It may have been small but we loved it! I think it’s lovely how you also have so many nice remembrances of your husband too ❤️. Great job I hope you enjoy many happy years there!

What an amazing house🌻It doesn't feel small at all, the high ceilings along with the finishing work make it feel quite luxurious. The front and back porch give you options to entertain or just relax. It's stylish and cozy and on one level with no stairs. It doesn't feel like a downgrade from a larger house. Great job Betsy !!!

This isn't even close to being a tiny house, not even if you put "tiny" in quotation marks. In most countries, this isn't even small; it's average or even above average.
Literally the best one of these I’ve ever seen everything about it is just practically perfect. I like the vast majority of her decorating, but the actual house outdoor spaces and the arrangement of things is just so good. I don’t know who was the architect and or the builder of this, but they were fantastic.

950 sf does not = a tiny home. That said, the home is lovely; warm and welcoming.
This is NOT a tiny house. Just about the average size of a one bedroom apartment/condo, but with all the outdoor space and amenities of a house. Beautiful!

It is simply gorgeous and huge! No one is hardly living in 4000sq.ft. homes where we are only there on weekends, anynmore!.
Children grow up and move away, attaining their own employment and condos. Downsizing is okay! Less items to clean!! Also, less is more. Thank you for giving us a tour and staring your beautiful place and land! ❤🏡

Best little house I’ve ever seen. She had a fantastic eye for beautifully curated things. There’s a lot of decor but it doesn’t feel cluttered or overwhelming. My eye rests on many focal points. Well done!

A perfect home and very beautiful. Who needs more. My condo is 819 sq ft and too much for the 85 year senior. Less is better. Who ever designed this home needs a whole neighborhood of this size home.

Absolutely PERFECT! It's stunning, it's uniquely decorated, it's well-put-together, it's cozy, it feels spacious with the oversized entry door & windows, high ceilings make it feel open & expansive..... it's just amazing from front to back. The setting is what I like most. Well done.

I think this is perfect for empty nesters! Everything on one level so you can age in place! Just one "flex" room and one bathroom so not a lot to clean and a charming wood burning fireplace! Just perfect!
