I love tours like this of “smaller” homes you always see vids of mansions when I’m just trying to see tours of regular sized homes.

Were about the same, family of 5. I was trying to think of a word of how this made me feel and "validated" is so spot on. As much as I would love a bigger house I feel more content knowing were not the only ones, were ok it's livable, were happy and the kids are happy and it works...so far. So gotta keep counting those blessings!

@@veronicam5413 it’s whatever you can afford, that’s the home you go with….no need of buying a huge place then end up house poor….so if your home is affordable and comfortable then you’ve got a great deal no matter the size! Maybe in a couple years you can pay off your home and perhaps you can sell it and get something slightly better who knows what the future may bring!

Yep, my family and I are in 800sf too. Ive spent years trying to buy a bigger home but it has never worked out. God keeps saying, nope! Stay put. While this has been very frustrating for me over the years, I now see how staying put has given me financial security because I havent over extended myself financially.

Heads up friend... Bigger is not always better! In your homeschool update, Erin, you mentioned that one of the things that really helps you is ALWAYS cleaning your house before you go to bed. This is an attainable goal for you, I think, partially because you have a smaller space to deal with. We went from a 815-ish sq ft duplex (4 kids and pregnant) to a 2,020 SQ ft house (5 kids) and it is unbelievably difficult to keep clean because there is a lot of space for the children to drag their toys and carry food, even if they are not supposed to. Just wanted to throw this out there. Smaller spaces are better, in my opinion, because although it looks like a hurricane came through faster, it is also much, much faster to clean up. Thank you for the tour of your lovely home!

We are a family of 4 and used to live in a 900 sq ft home. Space was tight, but it was home and cozy. We always dreamt of a larger home and we were blessed to get one. Now we find ourselves reminiscing on our previous home, the memories and the convenience of cleaning and chores. The world we live in is comparison. Home is what you make of it with people and memories. Your home is beautiful! You and your family are healthy, happy and take care of each other mentally and physically. Bless you!

I have always loved your house. My favorite moments in the show are when they show you and your family in that lovely home. My house started at less than 600 sq ft but we added a bedroom, closet and a dining room so we are at about 1100 sq ft. We absolutely love it. Just think about how life works. People think they have to have a huge house if they have a few children but when those children leave home, they feel the need to downsize, so they are constantly moving. If you just stay where you are and adjust, you will save a fortune and your sanity. I love the way you have utilized storage areas. I can take a lesson regarding that. Again, I love your house and hope you can purchase it and maybe add on if you want but that house is just precious.

Not to mention, when you live in a home, not a house, you enjoy each others' company. As long as you have a family room, a place to sleep, a bathroom, and a nice comfortable kitchen, you are all set. It's a home with a lot of windows and lots of light. I absolutely love it. Very cozy.

When we moved into our 1900 sq ft house (one room is used for husbands home office.) We had three young children and one on the way. It seemed plenty big enough! Two years later, twins! Now our oldest is 13 and just last year we realized we’ve suddenly outgrown our space! 🥰 We have been praying for a bigger home since then. Realizing it’s all about how the sq footage is used for a big family. Has to be in all the right places!

@@Anonymous09981 Yes, we are a family of 5 (3 kids 6 years, 2, years and 1) and are moving into a 2300 sqft house from the current 1300 sqft. We have no storage space, not a single person sleeps well and my kids are constantly cranky because of it, and we homeschool, so we are always home, all the time. The glamorizing of tiny homes for many people, is very annoying to me, because I kept thinking I was just being ungrateful based on airbrushed, edited videos of strangers. No, our house is too small for our family and we are open to new life always. I can't even stick bunkbeds in the rooms we have right now, I don;t know where we would put another child. I am not okay with limiting our family size because of our house, so joyfully moving in 2 weeks! I don't want the norm to be "just make it work." We are very minimalistic, and we still don't fit, so it isn't an issue of our stuff clogging our space. It isn't my job to make my family fit in a house, the house should fit us. So, enjoy your larger home and enjoy your precious babies :-)

Girl! I wish I had you to come organize and decorate my house!
We live in 1000 sq ft (apx) and have 4 kids (9,7,3,1) with one on the way... and it is just clutter everywhere and always a mess.
I never know what to keep or get rid of and how to make it all look nice. I feel like all I do is clean and it's still a mess! You make it look easy!

Erin, you are so precious and an awesome housekeeper!!! God bless all of you. I miss watching my “ bringing up Bates”. I can’t afford the extra to get it anymore. My husband passed away just this passed October and to be able to at least keep part of my channels I have had to go to basic cable and I can’t get y’all anymore. I’m 71 and waiting for my hip surgery. I sure miss all of you. I know I’ve missed I think 2 maybe 3 weddings now. It’s like missing part of your family. God bless all of you and keep up the great work y’all have done. I love y’all

I'm doing multi-gen in a two bedroom condo while taking care of my folks (80's) and my little boy. Every day feels like I've won the lottery! It's the best time in my life so far. There is so much love and we almost never think about the space we don't have. We just enjoy the space we do have and the people in it.

You have really made it a beautiful and comfortable space! We are living in my family's historic homestead (also with 4 kids!) and I am constantly looking for ways to maximize space and declutter. I have five generations of hoarders that have contributed to the mess in this house so the entire upstairs is unfortunately a no-go zone and a lot of stuff is taking up space downstairs too, but you have given me some good storage ideas to try, thank you!

Oh, I love your sweet video so so much. Your family is precious. I love your home, it’s so cozy and lovely. We live in a 1,400 sq home. We have four kiddos. My older two, almost 14 and 10 share bunk beds, boy and girl and the little girls, almost 5 and 1 year old share a room, I’m so thankful for our space, my prayer has been we would allow the space to bless us and those who come into our home, that we would overflow with gratitude and for us to not be anxious for more space, but to reconfigure the space we already have as we give thanks. Thank you for sharing with me. Congratulations on your sweet new baby. The Lord bless your precious family and continue to Shine His light and love upon y’all and keep y’all in His perfect peace. His Joy is evident in y’all💓

We are also currently renting but in a 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney. We are definitely planning to get our own but I’m also pregnant with my 2nd child and working full time working from home so is it stressful to find the perfect home at this stage. Thank you for putting up this video. God bless your family. 🤍

Very good use of space! We're also a family of 6 and live in a cape cod. We have 4 bedrooms technically, but one of the downstairs rooms is our homeschool room. So the 2 girls share a bedroom downstairs and the two boys share a bedroom upstairs across from ours. We also have a basement for most of the toys. A bigger house would be nice, but it's really not necessary and we love our neighbors! Plus, when you think about a lot of countries where families are living in a space the size of an average living room or smaller, it makes you grateful for what you have!
I am jealous of your decorating skills. I really lack in that area and wish I was better!

When you have less you do more..I love the simplified living!!!! It's the system they've implemented that makes it work! There are people with millions of square footage and it's nowhere near a home that demonstrates love, nurturing, family values. KUDOS to you all!

God bless your family! I needed this lol! I am renting a tiny home as well, it's probably 900 sq. ft. as well. The struggle is real! I have three kids and one on the way. Thank goodness to whoever created portable cribs because a baby doesn't really need a full size crib in the beginning and I think the smaller cribs are so cute anyway! We make use of the beds too! I have basically same set up....bunk bed in kids room for my two older girls and a toddler bed on the other side. One whole wall is a closet so they get to share that and we have "suctioned" many things into those Ziploc vacuum bags to give extra space. We just got a table last month a nook style and the handy thing about that is the bench seats lift up for storage space! I live on the West coast and houses are soooo high right now! My motto lately has been less is More lol!! It works and once Christmas is over and tree is out we will rearrange living room....again lol! It's like a giant puzzle sometimes and it sure is fulfilling my nesting needs lol!! Have a Merry Holiday!!!

I've just finished reading several of the posts and I wholeheartedly agree with them! My vote is that you're able to stay in your amazing/lovely/beautiful home with your sweet family. I actually saw a similar situation of a family on you tube. They purchased a tiny home and made it an extension to their home, and it looked fantastic. The kids loved it too - the two oldest ones had their 2 bedrooms located in the tiny home, and all the kids used the upstairs loft for game time, etc. It was somewhat less money than actually going through a brick and mortar build on addition.
You guys are so innovative that you could really have fun with creating something really cool with this property!!

I love your house.I have lived in a large house and a small one and a small one is much easier even if storage is challenging. Now as my kids are grown we are still in the house we moved into when they were 13,9, and 4. It is a large home. The only reason we haven’t moved into something smaller, is everyone lives far away, so when everyone comes home we can accommodate all the families including married couples with their children and no one needs a hotel. That is a real blessing. We get so much more time with each other because no commuting from a hotel or air bnb. We can have all 3 meals together, game time in the evenings, cuddles in p.j,’s it is really precious time to me. Just to have everyone under one roof. I have been looking at tiny homes, tiny homes on trailers so you can live wherever you want to all kinds of options when my husband retires in a few years. Growing up we had 4 kids in a 3 bedroom one bath home and I never remember feeling deprived, or crowded until we got into our teen years. I love a family home, crowded with the face that I love. It makes so many lovely memories that I will cherish forever. I think it is wise for you and Chad to wait until you decide what you really want to do before making a major decision. I can see you adding on to that home if you purchased it. You have your little farm there, seems to be in an area you love so I too, would hesitate to leave it. Happy Holidays to your entire family.
