@@jameslunsford4168 they’re super effective too! This is a jig adaptation of the “Fat Baby Minnow” streamer pattern by Fly Fish Food - Mustache Jigs & Flies is the one who created the jig adaptation. I tweaked it a little, but all credit goes to those guys
The action in the water on that is amazing. Thank you for the lesson! I have a whole jar of weighted jigheads that were given to me that needed attention. Thanks to you, I have found that!
Give em a shot, and soon your box will be full of em - they are amazing! I've tried several color combinations so far with the Jr. Bruiser Blend dubbing, and I highly reccomend trying the "Alpha Wolf" color as the top, and Unicorn Mane or Cream color as the bottom, with the "Super Pearl" 3-D Eyes by Hareline. This combination produced what I feel is the most realistic result - it's the bottom one shown in the thumbnail. Adding a touch of pink, orange, or chartreuse permanent marker near the throat and fading it in also produces a cool result. I've also created some stripes on patterns with a fine tip black sharpie for some cool perch-like patterns. You can really do a lot with these.
Will the jig remain level in the water when not jigging it? I ask because there is a lot other lead weight behind the eye. Great video! Thanks for posting…
@@danayo8852 yes, at the 1/16 oz or 1/32 oz. Size - if you want to jig it vertically with pauses or just suspend under a float, tie a stationary knot to the eye (not a loop knot). It will stay level as these jig heads are very light.
For jigs and larger flies/streamers - I'm really liking the one that I have - the Griffin Montana Mongoose. It's not wildly expensive either, and they have great customer service. I got this one specifically because it was recommended for larger hooks - I have tied on 6/0 jig heads and it holds them very well. I probably wouldn't recommend this one for super tiny flies - I have had some issues with slight movement when the hook gets in that Size 18+ range, but it's great for everything else.
Make sure to check out the Mustache Jigs & Flies channel - @MustacheJigs - he ties some of the coolest jig patterns on TH-cam 💯
Your videos are excellent!
Thank you Steve 🙏
I’ve been tying for 20 years and these are the coolest jigs I’ve seen
