That Time I Cashed in on Good Karma! (MONSTER Catch!)
I started targeting muskies this fall, and it has been my most challenging endeavor so far, without a doubt. I caught my first musky on my second attempt (about a 35 inch fish), and it made me think I was special. Little did I know, that it would be another 64 hours of casting before I landed my next musky. Fortunately, with the help of some good karma, the next one was a MONSTER.

    The fg is something i want to love. But its failed me too many times. Its great for awhile. But it will always fail you in time when casting thru guides. I have yet to find a way to lock it off that will hold up to casting all day thru the guides.

      @@ctious when forming the Rizzuto finish, did you by chance make your wraps around both the braid and the leader line? I had the same issue when I was doing it that way, because the guides were repeatedly contacting the exposed leader line, which would slowly undo the wraps and weaken the knot over time. When I switched to performing the Rizzuto finish on only the braid, it protected the end of the leader and solved the problem

    I don’t use mono backing, just straight braid and it never slips on the reel. So many TH-cam channels say the entire braid spool will slip. It’s false info. I would like someone to post that because it will never happen. It’s reminds me of when people started a rumor that using Armorall on car tires will make the wheel rim spin. Crazy stuff. Just all lies. 😮

    • @nextlevelangling
      @nextlevelangling 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Depends on the spool and size of the reel - some spools are flat and slick, some have a texture or grooves, some have holes that reduce surface tension even more. You wouldn't notice a slip while the spool it full, you'd notice it when spooling it on the reel (if you're applying enough tension), or when you have a lot of line out in the water and a big fish on the line. This all having been said - this is an old video. Lately I have not been using mono as backing for the braid either - I've been using electrical tape that is cut to perfectly cover the spool. Prevents slip and reduces the inner weight even more 👍

      @@upstreamer1661 that’s correct! In fact, I would ONLY recommend using with fluorocarbon or monofilament. I only used braid in the demonstration because it’s easy to see

    Have you tried these on a swim jig or chatterbait

    • @nextlevelangling
      @nextlevelangling 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@shaunmoeller3288 I fished them on a chatter bait - my only issue is that you have to use a fairly heavy weight and a fast retrieve to keep the bait upright and swimming- it was very 1-dimensional. I haven’t used them on a swim jig, but I watched Josh Jones catch 3 bass totaling 33 lbs. in 30 minutes with that combination. If you have FFS and can find brush piles, I’d say go for it 🤙

    Great tips! Sponsorships on gear and equipment would definitely go in the "positives" column. I am currently realizing the costs associated with creating a channel myself.

    The REAL secret to getting FREE STUFF!? ------- It ain't free. It takes hard work, dedication, respect, trust, loyalty, professionalism, humility, and a little luck. 5 years ago, I didn't know how to operate a spinning reel. 4 years later and in my second year on TH-cam, I joined the pro-staff for one of my favorite companies - Rapala. I'm not special. If I can do it, ANYONE can.
