Naomi, i tried in this video to show a general story of Africa- her innocence, her struggles and at the end her STRENGTH, POWER, UNITY, POTENTIAL. Thank you for the comment though, i am proudly kenyan and i appreciate all the constructive crit
This is a general story of Africa- her innocence, her struggle and finally upliftment- please listen to the lyrics and realize that every continent has shared tough times and battles, we have too and we have come out stronger! 3rd verse lyrics 'it took a while but it all came back, the love that was lost cam rushing back, you're captivating the world once again, you're growing into a beautiful girl with pride and beauty and so much to learn, your dreams are coming true now Oh Africa!
his song is a tribute to a new Africa. The continent that I call home is a very different one to the one you may imagine. Her people are brave and resilient, we have grown to shed naivety and innocence, only to adopt ambition and hope for a brighter future. I hope this sheds some light- if not that is also ok as everyone is entitled to an opinion, I too am proudly kenyan and express my love for my country and people in my own way.
Singing for continued peace and hope for a brighter and all progressing Kenya and Africa- the world was watching us during the elections, i just want the world to see what i see- extreme pride and potential of Africa!
I am not sure, but I cried a little during this. I just hate that there is so much suffering in the world. God please come back and fix this world of hate and struggle.
You know, hearing this song, and reading some comments, I came to realize that it doesn't matter where do you sing, what's important is to sing for peace, to make a message. I don't live in Africa and I would like to go, but listening to this song I remember in my country there has been massacres, not genocide, but there has been so much evil, in this amazing and beautiful country. Peace is neccesary everywhere and everytime :)
I don't understand why people have to post such negative comments. I am just a simple country boy from Memphis , TN. that loves all music and not just country. I think this was an amazing collaboration that's trying to promote peace and love something this world could use a lot more of. And or all those with negative comments there's an old saying that says " If you can't say nothing nice don't say nothing at all ". Keep singing great music Alisha and I will keep buying and listening Love You!!!
I have never been to Africa, but I recently spent some time in El Salvador with a service-learning project and it was amazing to see how powerful the human spirit is, even after decades of fear and oppression. After being taken advantage of for so long it's very easy to, as Peter sang "forget your beauty and your grace, forget the love of your innocent face", and to see such hope and passion coming from Africa is truly inspiring. I hope to one day be able to visit your wonderful continent. Peace
I love this kind of music and especially coming from the motherland! Alisha Popat you are the pomp!!! Couldn't have said more; we've a talent in our own backyard!!! 4USA.
To me, uh- metaphorically speaking- Alisha is the "mother" singing, Peter is the "father", and Zolani's voice is like Africa itself has awakened and is singing to itself. This is just such a beautiful, well done thing.
Thank you for all your comments Anthea. This song is a very special one to me, i hope people can see and hear the intended message! Thanks for all the support!
This gave me the chills; a rush of so many emotions: Love, fear, pain, longing, homesickness, hope, joy, memories. Thank you. I left my heart in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the home of my childhood. Thank you for this tribute to our glorious continent of Africa!
brought tears to my eyes and chills to my back. Blessings to all those in Africa and around the world who struggle to find peace. Sharing this that perhaps one day peace will be something we will see world wide.
Continue inspiring other people through your music. Only a handful of you do that. I'm happy to see that you're one of those people that are willing to pursue change in Africa. They need people like you that will connect Africa to the world and let people see how Africa is changing and learning to take a stand. Continue with what you're doing Miss Alisha, you're one of a kind. Thank you for opening our eyes and letting us see a better view of the whole picture that you're trying to paint.
Great song and a great video. Great collaboration with Zolani and Peter. Keep up the great work you are doing Alisha, without peace we can’t leave in this world. Keep on keeping on. Spread the peace. Aqua Sounds wishes you all the best.
hahaah thank you! It was just simply an incredible experience singing and learning from Peter, i don't mind the crit, its a challenge to better my art!
It does! it is a re make/ re- mix of the song. One of my favorite and most emotional songs- so we thought to use it as inspiration and Africanize it. Thank you Leonard Cohen!
Amazing Song! Beautiful Voice Alisha Popat! You are absolutely breathtaking...and I hope your dreams continue to go above and beyond! This Video is amazing and makes me miss home and be proud of how far Africa has come! You have done all of Africa proud!
i saw this on a suggestion i was like *OH SHI* OH SHI* THIS IS ALREADY GOOD AND I HAVENT EVEN LISTENED TO IT YET!!!! and its better than good Peter Hollens and Alisha the Dream Team
This is incredible... part of me wishes I could buy it and listen to it all the time. Okay actually most of me wishes I could buy it to listen to it all the time.
It is true, I can think of no words to describe how beautiful this song is. I do notice that the music is taken from Hallelujah but with a African twist. Thank you.
Enthralling, captivating, enchanting, dazzling. Whatever she does, she does it so well. Well done Alisha....miss awesome. Zolani (freshly ground) i love all her songs so this is included in my list of favs. Peter, well heard him for the first time but what an awesome job he has done. Kudos to th entire production team. Fantastic video from start to finish. Good job everyone and keep it up
I hope to still be alive when Africa homeland of humanity once again takes its place of pride on the global stage. Thank you for the great song and all the good work you three and all of the different organizations do to try and raise Africa up.
It's a wonderful song with a strong and emotional message. I think the key is getting honest leaders in office that truly care about the people, rather than promoting their own agenda and lining their pockets. Frankly, I was disappointed to see Zuma get back in. It will be just more of the same. Andrew Rugasira, CEO of Good African Coffee, has some good ideas. He's a very smart guy and I think an honest caring man, he would be an excellent choice as government leader. We need more pple like him.
Oh My how good is this. My Home for 25 years and I still go back every year and always will. Beautiful song adapted to reflect Africa, I am proud to say It is my Home.
whoa! Great work Alisha and team!! You guys are among the few African artists who are showing the rest of the world how beautiful Africa is. Beautiful!!
It was originally Lindsey Stirling and Devin Graham's video with Alisha that turned me on to Alisha's beautiful music. This was a beautiful video and great song. I love Alisha's passion for her continent, it's infectious. Her music and videos have inspired me even more so to visit that beautiful continent. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you Alisha!
Alisha, Your country has a great asset in you by utilizing your prodigious talent.. Also your accompanying vocalist Peter Hollens and Zolani Mahola were every bit as immense as the talent you carry. Keep up your good works and i'm sure the outcome will be all inspiring.
+davehshs Well the Africans allow themselves to be abused. I'm from there too. But I think this time people doing good and African leaders must put an end to aid and focus on developing their own people. The continent doing great things so we should also focus on that. It's not the same. Until the African decide to take destiny into their own hands no non profits, U.N, U.S E.U will solve their problems. How can someone who enslaved you and become your savior? This stuff is common sense but they haven't gotten that common sense yet. I think they will some day. There are lots excitement in Africa and things are moving forward so this time we don't sorryful messages we want partnership. keep the aid away and invest. www.residualincome-online.net
Continue to Keep up this wonderful dream! You, Alisha, are one of the most talented and beautiful woman i have ever seen and i bet that more and more people can feel what you want to share with your songs thanks to that.

The world of music would be sadly lacking without Africa!
