    Little things help me get the wife to come along. We tent camped when we were young but now she doesn't like to tent camp so much. Having a portable toilet and a privacy tent gets her out a couple of times a year so it is worth it. But it also helps to have a hotel room after a couple of days to clean up. Good video and sound effects.

      Right on! Yep, just a few creature comforts goes a long way. And, fully agree - even if I am traveling solo, on the 3rd or 4th day a hotel room is just the ticket! 😃

    Man, these things take up way too much space and the expense is crazy. $200 for a portable sink! I use a USB faucet paid $15 on Amazon. Not a fan of overpriced items that most people can't afford.

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You make a great point - the cost is definitely not for everyone. I think the price point is on the higher end, but not over-the-top. I’ve seen toilets anywhere from $300 to close to $1,000! 😱 That being said, the focal point of these products is indeed bringing a little extra creature-comfort to camp which does come with a little more price tag. But I get what you’re saying 100%. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

    I’m older-about to be 60-had hysterectomy and going thru menopause. For women, I think, it’s scent of menses cycle!! Always happens when ready to do outdoor activities!! BOOM!! I’d rather dig a hole behind a tree or bush because I like to look around for potential danger!! Plus fold up shovel can be used as a weapon when attacked!! God forbid. Can also use Naturals cat litter (basically corn husks) that decomposes. Also a basic fold up window screen for car can be used just to pee! Not sturdy but can be used. Also to save water is use hand sanitizer!! Then maybe 3 hand sanitizer “washes” use soap & water

    Great video. Personally I don’t use the kitty litter/wood chips. Every #2 gets a fresh bag! That way no one needs to see or smell mine and I don’t need to see or smell the hubbys! I then collect the #2 bags in a large baggie until I can properly dispose. I also like a tent with a floor so bugs, snakes are not in there when I need to go at night! Lastly I put a lightweight bath mat down to make it feel more like a bathroom. Small things will make it a lot more comfy for me to camp in the wild or campground. My potty tent is preferred in a campground setting. Campground toilets are disgusting. In the morning I take my liquid canister into the campground bathroom and empty in the toilet. The Boxio or other similar style toilets are fantastic!!

      Right now, if we both sleep up top in the Ursa Minor, the only thing additional I would need to bring is that persons duffel bag and extra food. I find that when I’m solo I typically bring too much food to begin with - so there’s not a ton more that is necessary. An extra pillow and sleeping back fit in the closed Ursa Minor too. AHAHAHA, ya, I’ll likely pass on the proper disposal. BUT, here for the comments - The bags that Boxio has are truly amazing. They seem so thin, but I’ve never seen anything like it. They contain the ‘aromas’. So, what I’ve historically done is double bagged them and put them in my Trasharoo which also has a thick trash back inside. I can stay out for days at a time like this no problem, just dump in the dumpster with the rest of the trash when I get home. Leave no trace! 😃 💩

    So I’m curious on what camera/video device are you using? I’m noticing a lot of moving up close and then further away again. I want to learn and know how that’s done. I do a lot of recording but don’t post things because I’m not good at that or editing. So how is it that you do that during filming or is it done during the editing? Thanks ahead of time for any knowledge you can pass my way.
    And by the way, I am one of the girls that do love the backcountry and have no problem using natures bathroom…in fact I would rather that than any public restroom that has all the human germs…ugh. However, I do like your set up. I set up a similar bathroom because I like camping in the woods on public lands vs campgrounds. Thanks for the videos. I just came across your videos yesterday.

So awesome that you are getting out there with nothing holding you back! 🙌🏼 Regarding recording: I film and edit everything with my iPhone 14 PRO Max. 😃 So those cuts in and out are done in editing. I use iMovie as my main editing app on my phone. I do that regularly to add interest to the shots, vs. one long shot from the same distance. But, that’s usually what it is, one shot that I’ll zoom in and out on. Let me know if you need any more pointers! I love this idea and wanted to know if you had an idea or a helpful contact for me. I am trying to decide between buying a Jeep-style or a camper van to travel and hike etc (not full time living). I am renting a camper van for 6 days this summer and also want to rent a fully equipped SUV/Jeep/4Runner style. But I'm having a problem finding one. I'm in So Cal but can travel to rent it and then I'd only drive it locally. Any ideas? Thank you for all you're doing to inspire us1

    So where you toss the liquids ? From the toilet?

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, options are - - dump in an ‘appropriate’ spot in nature. Unless there are regulations around that where disposing of liquids is forbidden. If you are truly approaching things from a leave-no-trace perspective … then you cap off the top and bring it home to dispose of in your home toilet, or some other waste disposal method. Personally, I’ve disposed of in the outdoors. I don’t feel that there is anything wrong with disposing of urine/liquids in the outdoors. As there is no solid waste that would cause an issue. All solid wastes need to be disposed of properly from my perspective. Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t see the Luggable loo, I’ll have to check it out! It’s interesting, when I saw those green bags for the first time, I thought, there is NO WAY these are going to hold odor or be strong enough to hold everything inside without fear/risk of the bag breaking or tearing. It’s crazy, I have no idea what these bags are made from, but they are amazing. Not saying due to sponsorship here by BOXIO. Whatever the material is, it holds the odors 100% which was very surprising to me. And they are tear proof. I’m sure if you took a knife to it you’d have a problem, but they are super strong, but super thin. It’s weird, you’ll just have to take my word for it on this topic. Great point here! I’ve been using the BOXIO products prior to this video, and they reached out to have me showcase their product line, which I tried to make clear at the beginning by noting that the video includes paid promotion and also adding ‘Powered By BOXIO’ at the beginning. I’m sorry you felt perhaps that I’m trying to push this on everyone - it’s not for everyone, and that could be due to size, weight, cost, or, they just don’t have a need for any of these items. That being said, the toilet with the discount code is just over $150 plus tax and the sink is just over $175 plus tax, I was hoping that the 15% discount will help others, as this is indeed a high quality and unique product from a small business; so the pricing is going to be generally higher than say some more mass produced items on Amazon. I’m sorry this video struck you this way, I was really not trying to induce shame here.😢 My best to you, and I want you to know that I appreciate all comments and feedback, I’ll do my best in future videos to be cognizant of how some of the higher cost outdoor products might strike people. I mean this sincerely. 🙏🏼😊

    • @TrailNewbie
      @TrailNewbie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s an interesting point you make. Full disclosure, I made those legs for the Front Runner boxes and it’s been a complete game-changer for my setup. And, I’ve had them in high winds, snow storms (high wind), beach camping with gusty winds and indeed, they might seem to sway a bit, but they’ve never fallen over once. I think because the wind so easily goes right underneath and there is not much surface area to be impacted by wind. So, what I’m saying - they may look flimsy, but they’ve actually stood the test of time in my setup through all weather conditions. 🙌🏻 Thanks for watching and for the comment! I really appreciate it!🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼😃
