It was nice to learn more about her as a young girl , as well as more about her marriage and life after losing King George VI, at such a young age. I always loved hearing about him and his love and devotion to his wife and family. I don’t blame her for not liking his brother & wife . Especially after I read about Edward & Wallis , fraternizing with Hitler . Thank the Lord he abdicated to Bertie, and it then led to The Beloved HMTQ Elizabeth ll, who was a wonderful monarch . I always truly admired and loved her. God bless . 🇺🇸❤️

What most people don’t know is the reason why she wore those flowery, floating dresses - she had a colostomy after treatment for a bowel condition called ulcerative colitis. The dresses perfectly hid the bulge created by the colostomy (stoma) bag. I (aged 4) clearly remember waiting, on the back of a lorry, in the then Salisbury, S Rhodesia, for her to drive to the sports arena, appropriately called Glamis Stadium - it was 1956, and pouring with rain, but we weren’t bothered, and enthusiastically waved our little Union Jacks!! She had been due to do a walkabout in the stadium, but the weather prevented it.

For sure! She was an iron fist in a velvet glove. She wasn't opposed to interfering at all. She did not like Prince Philip and she did not like his uncle Louis Mountbatten. Frankly, without the Dowager queen Mary and Elizabeth; Edward VIII might have been able to bully George VI to wheedle his way back into Britain with Wallis in tow.
