My great-grandfather moved to the United kingdom from Monte Casino Italy obviously long before the war and then met my very English great grandmother, he did not speak English as she did not speak Italian and they both had 10 children. My grandmother used to tell me all of these wonderful heritage stories about our family. So, to this day we still have family in the United Kingdom and we all love each other dearly and we always remember where we came from!!!😍

Yes, such a difficult life growing up with slaves at your beckon call, private teachers, living in a massive mansion and having to stand on the balcony to remind the peasants how superior she is over them that they must pay their dues to the monarchy. And meeting all the most powerful and wealthiest dictators and having to attend grand balls they hold for her, so tedious and inconvenient to have to leave her estate, horses and her beloved Corgis. And travelling to all those pathetic 3rd world colonies to thank all the peasants for giving her all their resources, they don't even speak the Queen's English. It's amazing nobody strung her up for all the crimes against humanity the Royal family is guilty of.

Probably because people didn't haul their video camera's around with them. I would have loved to have seen more of all of them. Victoria was the first to have her voice recorded. There is a video about Queen Mary on YT somewhere though. I've seen it.

Every school children we had to line up. And we didn't even know for what??.then my teacher said it is the queen of England. Ok so.
We had to walk 2 hours. In the heat, rain 🌧. And I only saw her white glow inside the car she passed by. That's it??I walked 2 miles for a glow. We were tired, thirty, wet,hungry. Just waiting for her.
That's the only time.I really seen her that close to me.

This is an excellent documentary, actually the best one I think I’ve ever seen. However, one cannot help but to notice how the focus is always upon these very self centered, very rich royals instead of upon the social conditions that are so detached from their lives.
Not all royals are self-centered.
I don't call 70 years of duty and almost no private life self centred. Go look at Hollywood if you are looking for self centered people. And I challenge you to do a full day with her that she used to do before Philip passed.

The monarchs set up colonies all over the world where there were already people living; e.g., the Americas, Australia, Hong Kong. They invaded India & bled it dry; shoved in & stole the natural resources & diamonds of Africa; got rich violating the rights of Africans in the slave trade; grabbed some islands here & there wherever they went; and taxed us to death until it led to a revolutionary war. The point is they got their wealth by invading, plundering & stealing it from indigenous People of other lands. So centuries later they claim they support themselves -- yes, on everything they stole.

The concept of an itinerant court is very old. QEII was just following the feudal playbook by going out to be seen, so as to be believed. I agree that the continuity provided by a constitutional monarch can be very stabilizing; it certainly has been for Great Britain. Relaxing the reigns of power allowed the monarchy to remain in existence. Now that the illusions have been shattered by the ability to actually see them all the time and hear all their very common struggles, it has rather tarnished the “ordained by divine right/chosen by God to rule” rhetoric. However, I believe Prince William and Princess Kate (especially Princess Kate) will be able to restore some of the mystique Queen Elizabeth II tried to maintain. Prince Philip endeavored to show the value of working royalty, to varying degrees of success, but Prince William and Princess Kate harken back to a different time because they meticulously manage their image. Now their kids will be a different story…. Only time will tell. King Charles III has to step up and be regal for once in his peevish and pampered life and lead his people by example, if it isn’t too late.
