yo Ikenna, no idea why I found your channel so late, but I am Austrian and I also like to learn languages. I've just started with Chinese, and now after 3 weeks I feel the progress is not anywhere close compared to other languages I learned. Maybe you can make a video how you tackle Chinese. For me your Chinese sounds super good if you are able to read and speak it confidently just after 1 year of studying. Anyway, all languages we have in common and I therefore can judge, I can only say, man your pronunciation is on top in all them!! (I guess your musical ear helps you with that)?

Watching you read these comments something clicked and I was instantly able to tell which comments you were reading yet without any knowledge of how to read Pinyin myself, mostly been focusing on the most elementary characters and some personal favorites as a part of my calligraphy practice yet haven't had much contact with pinyin and the basic pronunciation patterns with all the nuances to the languages sound like the Wo in Wo Ai Ni having this sound that Idk, stretches the consonant something I haven't found in many examples in the English language. This fun little video definitely jogged something in my brain though unintentionally or not.

there are reviews at the bottom of the website, screenshots of people who dmed me on insta and commented on my other youtube videos :). But maybe someone who read it will also comment here too
Literally just bought his book, It's got everything I need and has good discounts on the recommended programs as well as a guide on how to learn a new language if you can't afford said programs. Looks very much like a passion project and not a money-grab and it was even entertaining to read (which I did not expect). I am looking forward to starting soon and I have a good feeling this man will be responsible for me having a brighter future. My only obstacle now is motivation, funnily enough he has a chapter on that too.
If you want good direction on how to teach yourself how to speak another language without taking a class, then get this book. He tells you what programs to use and how he used them. It’s a very straightforward book and it doesn’t take long to read at all. Like maybe an hour or so. I followed his advice and started with Pimsleur French. I put in the work every day for 30 minutes (typical lesson). It takes a while to progress but just keep at it! You’ll notice the strives you’re making in just the first month!

You are probably not going to read this but there's this other really pretty good google extension called zhongwen Chinese-English dictionary. It makes it so that if u put your cursor over a Chinese character, it gives u the pinyin, translation and sometimes even the traditional/simplified form. I like to use it cause it promotes me to try and read the actual characters without me having to have google translate open all the time. idk just my opinion... no one's probably gonna read it anyways
