I was struggling with the camera for a long time, but thanks to you, using it gets easier day by day. I saw a lot of youtubers only mentioning its siblings (the A6--s and the A7--s). You're the only one who put so many effort on A5100, making you the unique one out of all. Although the view can be low, but your videos' quality should never be determined based on that. They are amazingly helpful to me! Thanks for them and wish you the best!

its actually one of the most powerful or the most powerful camera on its price range you can get but the thing is .... it doesnt look as powerful from the outside but the sensor and the processor are the same the a6000 has and even better (it has better video codecs) they made it cheaper by removing buttons and lowering the case quality but inside thats a beast with lots of features... overheating is the main problem yeah, a solution could be to use an external recorder for some cases but... i yet have to research if there is something else to do about the overheating problem... too much power in too little space
The camera quality looks amazing!...the only question I have is that if the file format is in XAVCS OR AVCHD I’m not able to send the videos to my phone in the format.
Hi, XAVCS will provided the highest quality video. Are you able to transfer the footage to a computer/laptop? If not I've found this article which might be able to help - discussions.apple.com/thread/7559372 Thanks for checking out the channel!

Only guy who's making this great videos for sony a5100 in 2019. Also, I am a student and an amateur in photography, I am tight on budget so would you recommend me to go with a5100 and invest more in lenses or should I buy a6000 and less lens? Are they very different in picture quality?
You can pick up either a5100 or a6000 at a good price second hand. The image quality will be very similar as the sensors on both are (almost) the same. The a6000 has move features and customisation, the a5100 is more compact and has a flip up screen (good for vlogging). It sounds like a6000 is closer to what you need (photography over video). Let me know which you go for!
I always knew the a5100 had so much potential but whenever I uploaded a video, it never was as clear as I'd hoped it'd be. Now realizing it was on a different file format and fps than you recommended. I just changed it so looking forward to seeing how my next video turns out! I don't know anything about camera settings so I appreciate you! I also have a problem, with it overheating after about 15-20 mins of recording. Do you find that to be a problem with yours?
Thanks for the comment, glad you're found the videos useful! By changing the video quality settings you'll hopefully see a big difference in your video quality! As for overheating, it's a problem with the camera and about 20-25 minutes is about the maximum it will record for without overheating for me. One of the few drawbacks with the a5100.

Just got my A5100 yesterday. I'm beginning to wonder why people even bother with 4K anymore! So many people complain about how much space it takes up, and interestingly, if anything, most videographers seem to want to 'soften' the sharpness, even when using 1080p! To my eye anyway, 4K seems to be about extreme sharpness. But, just like 4K TV or 4K discs, it doesn't seem all that popular! Some of your video, like at 1:08 (Tokyo?), seems almost as sharp as 4K! Very nice! Strange, there's even talk of 8K, or higher?! I guess that would come in handy for watching a movie on the side of a large building!
Thanks for the comment! 4k video is desirable but definitely not essential. For TH-cam very few people are using 4k displays, so most of the time 1080p still looks great. There's benefits to recording at 4k, with the image being down scaled some of the improved quality should be retained. But as you say most of the time 1080 is perfect. Thanks for the comment of my Japan video, it displays the power of the a5100!
We're using the a5100 to go straight into the ScreenFlow app with CamLink 4k adapter. Do you have any advice about that? It's not going to a card - so, do you think the file format matters? Thanks! We're going to try out these settings! Your videos are of much higher resolution than what we're getting - so, at least we know it's possible!
I really enjoy your tutorials, I have the a5100 and a lot of the settings that you have, I am not given the option to change them. In example it won't let me change anything on the creative mode, do you know why that happens?
Thanks! I think that these options will be greyed out if you're using 'Intelligent Auto' or 'Superior Auto' shoot modes. Try 'Program Auto' as this still automatically controls most settings but lets you access the ones you're after.
Natively unfortunately no. You'll need a capture card to capture the output from the camera. There is a 3rd party software work around, but it's a lot of work and the framerate is low. I wouldn't recommend that approach.
I have been researching cameras to get, and I kept landing on the sony a6400. However, that was outside the budget. So, here I am. I enjoy making videos when I travel, and I am looking for a camera that has the capabilities to take my videos up a notch. I’ve been working with a gopro hero 6 black, but that doesn’t focus like I am looking for. Would you recommend the song a5100, and if not, what would you suggest I look into?
