Alright, let's just get this over with. Is Die Hard a Christmas movie or not?
Now if you are one of those people that becomes enraged when this harmless question gets asked every year then might I suggest calming the f*** down.
Oh I got this one. The definitive answer is NO.
I count it as a Christmas Movie. I mean after watching a Christmas Story the required number of times Die Hard is a nice change of Pace.
Considering I consider Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, the Nice Guys, (let's face it, Shane Black has a Christmas fetish), Christmas movies, then Die Hard is the one Christmas movie to rule them all.
What I want to know, is what kind of people don't think Die Hard is a Christmas movie? I mean, can you really trust somebody who isn't on board that train
I think the only qualifier that makes sense to eliminate Die Hard is that there isn't a Christmas Morning scene making it not a Christmas movie. But that would also eliminate movies like Christmas Vacation and It's a Wonderful Life. Now you want to piss people off argue that It's a Wonderful Life isn't a Christmas movie. I can't express the profound enjoyment I get when I see the hatred in my family's eyes when I bring up Jimmy's Stewart's finest film.
Alan Rickman was dropped a second earlier than he thought he was to be to give it a more realistic reaction which it did. Even he was surprised.
Die Hard IS a Christmas movie. The basic story is a man travels across the country to see his estranged family for Christmas. The movie's events transpire at a company Christmas party. The movie is peppered with Christmas references...AND it features the greatest Christmas rap song ever.

The real reason why that fall looks so real on Hans Gruber, is because the director had him dropped before he thought was supposed to and so his reaction was authentic. Just a side note and an added bonus for you. Once again I appreciate your work

I have actually read all of those books. Every single one of them. Even Death Wish. Also Frank Sinatra was the first actor to ever play the character that John McLain is based on. It was in a movie called The Detective. Neat huh?

Two weeks ago Joker and Die Hard were on simultaneously. I hadn't seen the critically acclaimed Joker film, I really wanted to watch it. But after watching John in the limo with Argyle I had to watch Die Hard for the 20th time!
Man the firehose scene was awesome to see on the big screen. I was 9 and my Dad took me to see it and people went nuts for that scene.

A tiny detail that is easily missed is when people scream as Hans emerges to try to shoot John and John is ducking Holly down, you can can see Al instinctively reaching for his gun behind John.

I love your channel and your content just one minor quibble...mcclane didnt see through grubers act as one of the hostages as you stated because gruber successfully gave him an actual employess name of "bill clay" which John checked on the board which fooled him and prompted john to give him a gun. Anyways not a big deal just pointing it out, keep up the good work!!

I agree that Die Hard is a Christmas and not a Christmas movie. It's a semi-Christmas, just like Die Hard 2, which I think is really stupid now. Gremlins and Invasion USA are also semi-Christmas movies.

You failed to mention the distinct and memorable camera angle through Ellis' (from Supergirl) bullet hole and the hilarious scene of one of the SWAT guys getting ouched by the rose thorns, also the now useless threat to call INS to trespass and exploit kids for a fucking exclusive.
