Shiven Kumar Hey man I criticized him at first but he was right about the 2.5" drive. There's a connector for it but where is the bracket/case to hold in the drive from sliding around? Believe it or not but you have to buy it separately(hdd bracket) if you buy the laptop without a preinstalled 2.5" drive. Check it again at 3:56

The new Dell Inspiron gaming laptop has practically identical specs but has better build quality, a slightly worse display and (IMO) looks a lot better.

One flaw in your review is the upgradablilty. You can upgrade the 2.5" hdd and add more ram if you like. The ram is hidden in that metal box on the left side of the wifi card and the screws to remove the hdd bracket are below the fans or the right hand side of the wifi card

I've now had this laptop for almost 7 years (bought it on Oct, 2017). The internals have held up remarkably well. My configuration was the 1060 3GB with 8GB of RAM. I'm still able to play older AAA games pre-2015 on max settings and anything until 2020 on medium to high settings. The externals have held up okay. The external speaker vents on the sides of the screen hinge have broken off a bit and so have the vents on the bottom. Nothing too bad tho. Overall I am seriously impressed with how well this thing was built and it pretty much got me through all of my long college years! I plan on continuing to use it until it either gives out or until Microsoft stops supporting windows 10 (which'll be on October, 2025).
I just bought one of these today. Can't wait for it to come!

@@araxie oh great to hear that it lasted. Im still using mine and it has cracks everywhere and the some parts of the frame are loose, but its keeping up lol. CPU sometimes reaches 100 C but whatever i guess. Typing this from the laptop itself

ed the ram is upgradable, as well as the 2.5" storage, i can see the brackets for the 2.5", and the ram is hidden underneath that metal box thing just above the battery

Of course a desktop is cheaper, getting everything small enough to fit in a laptop + the more advanced cooling solution is where the price comes from.

I highly recommend the GTX 1060, 16GB RAM, 2 TB HDD and 256GB SSD version. Got mine a month ago and I'm very pleased with it's performance.

You guys are complaining he said "only 900" dollars? What's bad about this review is that the laptop is upgradable, you have a m.2 SSD slot, you have a sata connection for a 2nd hard drive and under the metal cover which isn't hard to remove you can upgrade the ram, plus this laptop comes with only 1 stick of 8gb ram which makes it easier to upgrade, just grab another 8gb and stick it in. I'm most likely getting this laptop, because I live in Europe and here the price comes with VAT included, which makes this laptop a great choice, compared to other similar spec. Also we don't have a lot of models, at least here in Portugal.

got this laptop a year ago for 759 euro. that is a steal in the Netherlands. The model I bought normaly goes for 900 to 1000euro I still love it :)

A desktop is cheaper than a laptop because of the equipment needed to stuff everything in the small form factor and more intense heating that is needed you could get a 1060 in desktop form. People who may be looking at this laptop need the portability tho so up to you what to pick.

you can swap the ram in y520. it is covered with those silver aluminum. pop that alumi cover and you can see 2 ram slots.
also you can slot in your 2.5" HDD on that sata connector there.

One thing is false in the video. This laptop is upgradeable. Memory can be 32 gb and there is a space for a HDD holder ,so you can use 2 drives in it.

you can actually upgrade the ram its like just pick up the metal cover on the ram you can easy lift it up and you are good to go. :)!

im sorry you didnt know but the silver square that you can see when you opened the laptop. there is the 2 ram slots that can be upgraded to at least 16gb of ram i think the max is 32gb. also someone else mentioned that there is another slot that you can put a laptop hardrive or ssd version of that
