Did you hear the polyrhythms of the audience's applause? True Djent...
Hahaha!!
I was eating pudding when i read this comment. I spat everyting out :D
but does it... oh... ok
i was gonna do that
Vince reyes it do.
Vince reyes lol
it still does after a year .. lol
When prog goes acoustic it becomes...
Flamenco?
Oh no. Djent is NOT progressive. What makes something progressive is not necessarily the time signature, but how song structure, chord structure, and melody are challenged by the musician(s) to the listeners, take how with the band Yes has this thumping over the top bass, and there's this weirdly spaced guitar to create accents, with the addition to some amazing harmonies.
Kyle West 100% right but if you take the djenty style from Animals as Leaders they ARE prog. listen to those jazzy cords, love them.
it is even clearer during the clean guitar sections
AAL are straight up Jazz doing metal stuff, take bitches brew by Miles Davis, a really out there album, but it's weirdly still jazz, and this is the same with AAL. I love AAL and the whole band.
check out the band TRAM. it is literally AAL jazz. its Tosin Abasi, Javier Reyes, and a couple other guys. only one EP but it is great.
PurpleKangaroo4 drummer of suicidal tendencies and clarinet player of the amazing band THE MARS VOLTA
Wow, really enjoyed that.
Adam Ragusea listens to djent???????
Never expected to see you here. Wow.
I was just watching awhile ago your vid about why you season your cutting board not your steak.
Top 10 anime Crossovers
you listen to periphery?
It's really cool when you put parts of progressive metal songs onto a different instrument because it really helps the technicality of the songs shine through the heavy 'loudness' that most people hear instead of the immense skill and, for the lack of a better word, beauty that's found in periphery songs. This is really cool, man, loved it.
Blair Carmichael couldn't have said it better myself. I did this arrangement because when you strip away all the things you think makes this music work, you find that the music is so solid that it's virtually indestructible, and it's the musical content itself that is actually what is great. Dress it up how you like, or say it in a different accent, but if it's a great musical concept then that will always shine through.
Your doing a wonderful thing. Breaking down the barriers between different types of music, real or imagined.
Thank you! I love the concept of breaking down barriers; I just don't think we need any.
Charles Alexander Allred I totally agree completely. there are so many amazing styles of music in the world today and the fact that they can come together like this is amazing. much respect
David Johnson you're*
David Johnson
That sounds cringy as fuck.
Not to be that guy but music between genres don't have barriers,
Look at Surf rock and Death Metal.
If you were to take away the distortion, Death Metal becomes surf rock from the 60's.
Metal are classically orientated, especially progressive bands who take upon that romantic style.
There are plenty of "Music barriers" that are just there but really don't exist, the only barrier is there is the culture groups that exist and associate with these music types, creating this idea that two vastly similar genres/styles are somehow "Different" when it comes to actual music notation and music structure you can find a lot of similarities.
Same would go for Djent (if it even exists, more on that later), Djent takes on a lot from the big swishy chords from Spanish Flamenco, Jazz pieces and obviously Prog/Experimental rock so it can call back to that, and if you wan't to compare it to a classical element, a lot of the Russian composers LOVE those low end instruments and composers such as Bartók messed around with weird signatures to create an off beat feel.
Besides, the literal inventor of "Djent", Misha Mansoor of Periphery and Bulb stated himself that it was a sound he used to described the guitar sound he wanted from the pickup, and it stuck as the genre even though it never intended to be.
I would go into it so much further but I haven't spoken about this subject in a while and I'm a bit rusty on the details.
but Tl;Dr: Barriers exist only within our minds, I don't mean that in a "Ooo look at me acting like Aristotle", like literally its human nature to find a culture to identify with and it will and always will extend to everything we create because of it. It's just by chance that we all pretty take influence even from our "Polar Opposites"
What am I doing with my life. This guitarist was fucking rad.
Absolombly loved it
I'm very, very VERY impressed. Loved every bit of that man :)
Werner Erkelens Hey thanks man! I love your videos; I watched your Absolomb cover a lot to help me figure out the rhythm
Such a wholesome community.. helping and appreciating each other.
when the lady coughed at 2:34 I shat my pants because I was listening in my headphones and the sound of that came from my left headphone, which is also the headphone I had towards the (open) door to the room, and with the sound being so... real in a way, like clearly not produced, it really sounded like someone coughed in the hallway of my home, and I'm home alone!
That was fun.
Tremolo picking with the bassline for "The Way The News Goes" is brilliant :) love the renditions. You're so skilled!
Thanks! I'd like to eventually cover the song as a whole and explore the idea further.
Damn dude. This is incredible. Misha needs to see this.
Michael Campa and mark
Francisco Mella and jake
And Nolly
And matt
And Spencer
The coughing solo was absolutely astonishing
So is your name!!
Gold... Thank you so much
I'm impressed and amazed hope Mark, Misha and Jake see this.
Great performance. What a great audience as well.
Jrocka7x Holy shit there was actually an audience. I thought your comment was sarcastic
It's a recital for parents, not djent concert bruh :D
Jessie Klupp how ptetencious.
Jessie Klupp I'd say that classical concerts ARE normal concerts. It's been around for multiple centuries, compared to the rhythmic music, which origins from ragtime
I thought this was a South Park reference. "Wow what a gr-gr-great audience."
I just love how you played the chorus of The Way The News Go, that was just so damn beautiful!

this guy is the cool, hearing that periphery sound at its best
Took intro to classical guitar with him about a year ago or so. Phenomenal player and teacher. Awesome to see this randomly in my suggested videos! -Ronnie
Ronnie!!! Ok so this is the the guy who introduced me to Periphery, and I’ve listened to them pretty much every single day since then. Great to hear from you man!
And thank you for showing me Periphery; it’s changed my life for real.
Dude I totally forgot I showed them to you! That was right when I was getting into them. So cool! Good to hear from you too!
That natural tone makes my ears tingle. Zero is my favorite song off that album especially when that ascending butterfly riff hits.
BigEvan96 that is one of my favorite riffs of all time!!
Charles Alexander Allred word.
I was not expecting the crowd at the end...I loved it!
This is stellar. Gonna check out more of your stuff tonight!
to play this without a rythem section is impressive...so many changes and odd time signatures....well done
This should be called: Man Plays 3 Guitar Music on 1 Guitar
Props my man

Fantastic work! Proud fellow SMU alum here!
I hate when I see thumbs down for
some one who is up doing what he loves. A+ and a thumbs up from me. I just happen to run on to this.
Thanks man, when you do what you love, can’t no one get you down :)
That is awesome! I loved The Way The News Goes and Zero very much. You don't need distortion for those riffs to sound full.
Good job man. Big applause!
Really enjoyed this! So different but still able to instantly recognize the original tracks
Makes me think of the new Animals As Leaders album, since it has more nylon-string stuff on it.
Ended with a smile on my face after watching the whole thing. Man you are an amazing player. The skill and strength it takes to play like that and specially arrangements that were originally created to play on electric guitar is mind blowing. Wish you fame and success man, you are one of the good ones.
Chrisleftyguitar, thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful words. Success for me is hearing impactful responses like yours. It makes me feel fulfilled and motivated to do more. Very glad you enjoyed it!
2:31 That cough was perfectly in sync with his playing. Amazing.
Incredible performance. I applaud you
the way the news goes was so well done holy shit. nice job!
awesome !!! that riff right before zero sounded like tempting time by AAL actually lol 🤘🤘
I think it's best that classical guitar and djent remain friends from a distance.
lmao
truly amazing my friend my ears are pleased and grateful keep these vids coming
That is some clean guitar playing right there. Bravo.
>listened to this ac0ust1c Absolomb
>listened to Periphery album version

This is so awesome!! Incredibly well done. I need more Classiciphery in my life! Haha
OMG this is amazing bud!!!
dude you nailed the part at 3:10, sounds so sick on classical guitar
Taylor The Warlock thanks! That part was tough! But it's one of my very favorite Periphery riffs so I had to put it in there.
Amazing! I loved the bit with The Way The News Goes
th-cam.com/video/oFhNCUt6uVs/w-d-xo.html
This is absolutely amazing. Great job man! Keep up the good work
ABSOLBOMB!!!! Dude you're amazing keep it up.

More arrangements like this on the way! :)
Wonderful performance!
I love this!
What a beast sweep picking without a pick..

as a classical guitarist beginner who was planning to quit, it cheered me up!
This is gold. Do more!
wow excellent rendition.
Very nice work !
Great work!
That's awesome, I listen to Absolomb and I think your version of it was really cool
Amazing talent, beyond the charts. Seriously, all respects for you
This is incredible!
please make a studio recording of this! totally worth doing my opinion;) beautiful playing.
phillphall Thanks so much! It is in the works; I've been tweaking the arrangement and polishing it up for a studio version - I'll let you know when it's up.
So different!
Kinda reminds me of Animals as Leaders.
ratamacue0 I love different!!
ratamacue0 that's what I thought, it sound just like an Animals as Leaders song
SingForRetardation 01 01 that's funny how its periphery all the video long
When metal gets beautiful
Brandy Byhoffer but metal is already beautiful
True!
This is really ..really good and I clicked immediately despite not having a patronizing clickbait title and a stupid face expression thumbnail. The algorithm did something right because this is refreshing
Does everyone else miss how 2008 TH-cam had stuff on this level everywhere before it got diluted with mediocre "SmASh tHAt LiKE bUTTON!!" uploads? The culture has been missing its substance for a while
You’re the first person that I’ve heard mention this type of culture since I can remember. It’s never made any sense to me but the more time goes on the more people seem to be going with it
Wow Priestess at the end was was just wow... great medley
I can't believe how many times spencer said misery...
Awesome!
I hope the entire band have seen this
this is surprisingly awesome
Thanks Jesus
NO ONE ASKED YOU JESUS!
Sgt Fumbles II Sorry...
I'm sorry I love you Jesus
jesus yeah no one asked you dude
This video is the reason my favorite genre is progressive metal
This is godlike in every way. Your technique is incredible. It would be so amazing if You made a medley from Periphery's earlier works.
funkaforfan thanks for the compliment! Stay tuned...you just might get your wish ;)
YAY! :)
that final riff is beautiful in classical guitar ! :'(
Wow..... a big salute from my side.......
this was dope man! I wish I could play like this. I'd be playing acoustic djent all the time.
Brandon Fullem years of practice my friend, and you certainly can!
Dayum, that was incredible!
so awesome! definitely we will need music sheets of that! Keep the amazing work!
Sheet music/TAB now available at charlesalexanderallred.com/store
It is really hard to control dynamic on acoustic guitar.
John Yang no it isnt.
seniornuggtes So by saying that. You gave two possible pieces of information, first this guy sucks due to the poor dynamic management. Second you can play acoustic guitar better.
John Yang you dont have the sheet music? you dont know whats written and what isnt? he took a style of music and brought it to an area that it normally doesnt reside. you seem to knoe nothing of guitar, any type for that matter, otherwise you would have never commented what you did. his song did not call for much dynamic change, as far as we know anyway. it comes out very clear upon listening, which i assume you didnt do either
seniornuggtes, you are very quick to throw insults. Furthermore you misunderstood his comment. If you knew anything about guitar you would have known that he was referring to the fact that his performance is very dynamic, in a way where the rhythm of the piece is sometimes hard to distinguish, while one can assume the dynamic is supposed to be more like baroque terrace dynamics, meaning a more or less flat dynamic range but where different phrases and sections are played in different such ranges. That's what he means by the dynamic being hard to control. As a classical guitarist myself, he is absolutely correct. The classical guitar is, if you didn't know, a lot more sensitive to play style than regular acoustic guitars are, so even playing everything right it is often hard to control the timbre and dynamics.
Long story short, the criticism isn't that he played it too flatly, but that he played it a bit too dynamically.
RedTriangle53 THAT IS WHAT I MEANT. HE DID NOT CONTROLLED SOME PART EQUAL. THAT IS WHY I SAID 'CONTROL' AND 'MANAGEMENT'.
I wish my finger strength was half as strong as yours! Beautiful video, absolutely love this.
This is so weird to listen to, i love it!
The speed picking with three and four fingers was pretty amazing
Extremely well arranged
Man, you nailed it! Congrats
give that man a band
Wow dude, simply amazing
4:34 Just about made my eyes pop out of my head, amazing.
Absolutamente impresionante! excelente interpretación e innovadora por supuesto.
Increible, te felicito!

The Way The News Goes was great!
DUDE YOU ARE AWESOME
Thanks! More Periphery arrangements coming soon!
beautiful sir.. i hope you will make periphery's absolomb full cover with classical guitar..
awesome!
4:00 some Animals As Leaders vibe here.:D
Tamás Beviz Uhh...
Noxshus What does that "Uhh..." mean?:)
It's a Periphery song. I guess knowing the original I don't really think it sounds anything like an AaL joint, aside from the eventual djenting.
Tamás Beviz
Yes. What is that song?
I got a vibe of aal at 2:04
This is awesomelomb!
Ha!
Ohhh this is so great
