      Thanks Gary. I think the next one should be out a bit quicker than this one was.

    Saw you on the taxiway at CYOO last week - I took off for CNV8 and you left right behind me for CYOW?
    Loving this series, keeps me dreaming of our big escape to somewhere South next year.

      Hey Glen, yeah I saw you pass in front and takeoff ahead of me. I wanted to say hello but by the time I got up you had already switched over to the area frequency and I was heading east toward Ottawa. Let’s get up for a flight soon.

    I just found your channel this morning and started binge watching. Really enjoying them. I live in Northern Ontario (fly out of CYXR) and have completed trips to Florida and the Bahamas several times so it feels like I am flying along to a few known places. I am sure surprised how quiet it appeared at KSAV and Signature especially. That is one of our favourite places to stop along the way. KSSI and KSGJ are a couple of others. Thanks for taking the time to put these together.

      Oh that's awesome, thanks so much for watching! Re KSAV - yeah, there was a convective sigmet coming in, and low clouds, that I think kept a lot of the casual VFR traffic away. We managed to get out before the bad weather came in, thankfully, but we had to cut short our stay and pass on going into the city itself to check it out.
      I've never been up your way, it's something I'd like to do sometime. The furthest north I've flown is Killarney, which I love, but flying up north to Timmins or beyond, and around the Great Lakes to Thunder Bay, is a goal of mine.

    Great series - nimble in planning is clearly a requirement for such a trip. Sincere condolences for a tough year of loss for you. Fly safe

      Thank you, Isaac, for the kind words, it has indeed been a tough year. And yes, being nimble is absolutely required for these longer trips; I'd always heard it, but didn't really appreciate it until we had to adjust by the hour and even minute for changing conditions. It does come down to having multiple options laid out in advance, and even then being able to plan changes on the fly is key.

    Love these videos Kamal, as I'm planning a similar trip to Bahamas, in November. Charlotte Monroe KEQY is my favourite half way stop when flying to FL.

      @WingsOverTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That'll be awesome, Joe. I agree, KEQY is a great little airport, they're so friendly and helpful, nice facility, perfect little hotel just a few minutes away. Great spot to stop. Looking forward to hearing about your trip down to the Bahamas!

    Another great video! ... Really enjoying your series, excellent video editing/camera angles, etc. BTW, this is the kind of trip that will become much easier with your IFR ticket ;-)

      Thanks very much! Yeah I’d love to do another Bahamas or similar trip now that I have my instrument ticket.

    Those Georgia controllers were very friendly. Standing by for the ocean crossing. Take care and happy landings always.

      Thanks Reale! They really are, aren’t they? I’m planning to go to Chicago this weekend. We’ll see if their controllers are as friendly.

    Have to confer with you and Steve about the requirements for entry into the US...we won't get there before winter, but a trip South has to happen! Great video!

      Hey Richard, absolutely you should. We'll be heading over to Chicago on Friday, if all goes well; it really is pretty straightforward, not as difficult as I thought it would be. Happy to chat whenever.

    Great vid again as always. Looks like that’s a lot of fun. Just curious, what phone mount are you using? I need to get one of those

    • @WingsOverTO
      @WingsOverTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Carson. I've got a Ram suction cup mount with a standard 1" ball joint, and then mated to that is their iPhone XR Form-Fit cradle. rammount.com/products/ram-hol-ap26u They also have universal phone mounts available on Amazon if they don't have one specific to your phone.

    Sounds like its time for that Instrument Rating, this is a great trip and I look forward to seeing the crossing. How long does that nose gear take to retract?

    • @WingsOverTO
      @WingsOverTO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. WAY too long. Every time I see it in this camera angle I start worrying that it won’t retract all the way.
      Yeah, I’m actually working on my instrument rating. Haven’t been able to work on it for the last month or so, but picking it up again now. Thanks for watching! Have you made this trip?

      @@WingsOverTO not yet. I used to live in Virginia and recetly moved to Colorado so the bahamas bucket list trip got put on the back burner for now but will likely happen in the next 2 years. I got my IFR about 1 year ago and it is by far the most useful rating there is. Those low clouds would not have stopped you and you would have just punched through to the clear layer on top to cruise in comfort

      @@flyingthewaters4745 Oh sweet - mountain flying is something I have zero experience with and would love to try sometime. My plane has a service ceiling of 14k feet, and with any kind of warm/humid day, crossing over the Rockies feels dicey to me. But I need to go on one of those mountain flying training weekends someday and give it a try.

    Another very enjoyable episode. Good call on departing Savannah for Fort Pierce! For the leg into Savannah and similar legs with terrain and/or obstacle concerns, you might benefit from the Profile and Synthetic Vision views in ForeFlight as per this video: th-cam.com/video/uHPbOXvszmk/w-d-xo.html Looking forward to your next episode! Thanks very much! I've looked into the synthetic vision stuff; I think if I was flying IFR I'd be all over it, but flying VFR, I feel like it would just be one more thing keeping my eyes on my iPad and not out the window. I think I already do enough of that as it is. :)
