I know that Aqua is powerful and all but I still felt like she had to have been a little afraid. She was fighting something completely different from the Unversed. This has to be the most frightening Heartless ever. Scary thing is that you know that there are more just like it.

This is heavily known already but for the guys that DON'T know this. This is on Final Mix not the original game. You'll need to get KH 2.5 remix otherwise you will not encounter this boss
This should've been a stalker-like boss for the whole 0.2 game rather than the simpleton Demon Tower. A better way to reflect the constant dangers of the lurking darkness.
Agreed. Plus the beast like form would play more into the idea that the realm of darkness isn't a land of "evil" as much as "Unknowns" and this beast gives a sense of "innocence" to the heartless that Union X and Xehanort seemed to be touching on. Heck even Ansem seeker of Darkness admits after Sora and Riku beat him in KH3 that had things been different, they could've made good rivals rather than enemies. SHowing that there's a level of respect for those who live among darkness.
It would've been a better creature to keep Aqua in a state of fear and despair that would constantly keep her on her toes while in the RoD. It would also have been more dramatic if when Mickey came to rescue her, if when they think it's been killed, it makes a last ditch lunge at the duo, and Aqua sacrifices her chance to escape by knocking Mickey out of its way. That change could also convince Mickey that Aqua might not even be alive when, in fact, some of the red-eyes darkness corrupted her while it dragged her deeper into the realm.
I call the Dark Hide, the Kingdom Hearts series' own xenomorph. Still, one of the most unnerving Heartless in the franchise, outside of major intenders like the Phantom, the Experiment(well, kinda), et cetera.
Following the perilous fight against the boss of her secret episode, Aqua stood atop the threshold and steeled herself..... As her graphics began to upgrade in preparation for her Filler Episode.
and massive props for the music. Of all the boss themes in the series, this one is up there with really channeling the idea that you're fighting on their turf. The jungle drum beat and the ominous piano really make the battle feel energetic and fast paced, like Aqua truly is fighting a beast out for blood not because it's evil, but because it's nature.
Seems to be inspired by Fenrir given the design and nature. Likely why Hercules's story is the only one in KH3 as there's some interactivity with the Gods going on. Oh and since Disney owns Marvel and can use Thor...maybe we will see some Fenrir stuff. (though I don't think Marvel's Thor ever touched on Fenrir....)

Well they saw the KH has a huge following and they wanted to wanted to milk it, hence the .5s and the final mixes. The KH Franchise has the feel of someone had cool concepts a basic outline for an overarching story, but as the franchise grew more and more popular, the creators were scrambling to actually finish the story at the same time, hence the weird back and forths, the zig zagging of the plot.
An Apt comparison is the KH Franchise can be compared to the plot of Sing 2. Nomura is Guy Moon in this metaphor scrambling to stay ahead of everyone. Lol
Sorry to say this but you can only fight this boss,easily accessible to critical mode or proud mode and the only the way to get that encounter back in the psp is port the Japanese final mix in it or what we have now just play the BBS final mix but critical mode or proud mode just so you can fight this heck of a pure heartless beast boss fight if you do get to play just get use to adapting each character moves and abilities then your ready to try this boss while learning his mechanics attacks of when he does do it and how in beating him makes it a little easier while also being refreshing in taking out a boss that either worth or hell of a torcher that may never touch BBS if you up for the challenge..... ..... ...
Definitely one of the more cinematic boss fights that's just as entertaining to watch as it is to play. I outside of the final bosses, I only recall them doing similar with Xigbar in KH2 and his PoV sniping,
I had no clue this thing existed. I beat the final episode, every mirage arena battle, the Vanitas remnant, and the mysterious figure but I didn’t have a clue this secret episode existed

In my headcanon, I still think this is Luxu's/Braig's/Xigbar's Heartless because of it's name, Hunter. Hunters are also known for guns, which is Xigbar's signature weapon and his Nobody underlings are called Snipers.
i find it interesting how aqua is unfamiliar with heartless, because while the realm of light was relatively safe, aren't keyblade wielders meant to fight against heartless and the darkness in general

Hehe well they admit that time moved far faster in the realm of darkness which is why Aqua hadn't aged much, it seems based on the 0.2 story, she probably was only there for a few weeks or months at most. Though the Evil Aqua you fight in KH3 isn't actually her, just a manifestation. The real Aqua was dragged into the sea and Sora goes to save her after defeating the figure. She was fine for the most part, just...annoyed based on her verbage more than distressed. like "Gosh this place is terrible, I really don't want to stay here longer than I have to".
To be honest, I’d have preferred Dark Hide as the final boss of 0.2 BbS, instead of that Demon Tide or whatever it’s called. Its design was extremely uninspired(yes, I’m using that word, sue me). I mean, you could have done much, much better than a bunch of Shadows held together by a... ball of darkness... thingy...? It’s a shame, with the amount of greatly designed bosses in the series.

I mean, it’s a mass of flying Shadows, which either have the walking animation or no animation at all, and the fight (at least the non-patched version) is horrible and not fun at all (for me), with no starting lag before the attacks and a second phase that is almost unfair, not for the difficulty but because there is hardly any opening at all. The fact that it’s skippable doesn’t justify it. But if you like it, I’m not gonna hate. It’s just... not my cup of tea, honestly. I prefer Mirror Aqua.

Honestly it was recurring and seemed to hold some type of hidden message, which i think we all overlooked.. but as a boss it was very lackluster. Even the big guys are more fun... however i gotta disagree on the second phase, it made me look for openings and get immersed in the field which i enjoyed the only time i felt that kind of pressure was being under leveled in hollow bastion. 😂😂 i was CRYING for help and they just kept coming.. that feeling of overwhelming was fun to experience again but after fighting it so often now i think in at like 60+ tries, it still feels crazy overwhelming. I'm hoping that's saying kh3 won't be walk through magic spam like 2 ended up.
This boss is one of the most entertaining to watch cinematically. Unlike the others which is more a showcase of skill of two characters just dancing with blades, this one really looks like watching a movie since they change perspective to that of the heartless occasionally. You really get a sense of how much in danger Aqua is.

Not just a gloomy world of evil and emptiness, but more so a kind of "Natural world" of chaos akin to going to a jungle by yourself without humanity to guide you. That's the impression I got from the boss, but 0.2 never elaborated.... instead "Chaos tower...."

Alas most KH boss fights when done well involve dodging and guarding as you wait for an opening, then get a combo or two in and then go back to parry stance. Especially the data fights in KH3. No button mashing to win those, you'll be obliterated, even with max stats.
How do you get the secret ending. I did on the requirements on the final mix proud mode I completed this final episode and got all the sticker albums with all three characters and nothing happened so I don’t get what I did wrong
It was actually more like 2 months or so, time accelerated faster in the real world than the realm of darkness. Hence she, Ventus and Terra barely aged. (well namely Ventus and Aqua, Terra DID age and became Apprentice Xehanort, then Xemnas, but some magic allowed Tera to get his body back. He still looks older than he was in BBS but by 18 you don't really age much more physically.
If you pause at the right moment before the heartless and Aqua gets flown backwards, not the unknown heartless but Aqua you can see her face too big😂😂😂
Yeah Dark thorn is just a lower tier version of it. There seems to be tiers of power the heartless have like how Fat bandits are upgraded versions of Big soldiers and Neo shadows are an upgrade to regular shadows. So Dark Hide is effectively Dark Thorn's evolved counterpart. LIkely the heartless Xaldin was trying to get out of Beast before Sora calmed him down.
Cardes Comedioses You can fight it by unlocking the Secret Episode. The unlock criteria depend on the mode you chose at the beginning. For standard mode, you have to complete the sticker album with Terra, Aqua and Ven, clear the Final Episode (which can be unlocked by clearing all 3 stories and collecting all the Xehanort reports) and defeat 9999 Unversed overall. For Proud Mode, you need to complete the Sticker Albums and clear the Final Episode. For Critical Mode, you just need to clear the Final Episode

The whole theme of hiding in the shadows with only it's red eyeshine being visible reminds me a lot of nargacuga from the monster hunter series.

Alas most KH boss fights when done well involve dodging and guarding as you wait for an opening, then get a combo or two in and then go back to parry stance. Especially the data fights in KH3. No button mashing to win those, you'll be obliterated, even with max stats.

How do you get the secret ending. I did on the requirements on the final mix proud mode I completed this final episode and got all the sticker albums with all three characters and nothing happened so I don’t get what I did wrong
Did you get the high score (I think it was 140 points) on each album by placing the stickers in the right spots?
After 10 years in the realm of darkness Aqua should have been at level 999 in KH 3.
It was actually more like 2 months or so, time accelerated faster in the real world than the realm of darkness. Hence she, Ventus and Terra barely aged. (well namely Ventus and Aqua, Terra DID age and became Apprentice Xehanort, then Xemnas, but some magic allowed Tera to get his body back. He still looks older than he was in BBS but by 18 you don't really age much more physically.
If you pause at the right moment before the heartless and Aqua gets flown backwards, not the unknown heartless but Aqua you can see her face too big😂😂😂

Yeah Dark thorn is just a lower tier version of it. There seems to be tiers of power the heartless have like how Fat bandits are upgraded versions of Big soldiers and Neo shadows are an upgrade to regular shadows. So Dark Hide is effectively Dark Thorn's evolved counterpart. LIkely the heartless Xaldin was trying to get out of Beast before Sora calmed him down.
This fight will surely drop frames on any PC and including the PSP FM, beside some super gaming pc that could've been devoid of any frame drops

Cardes Comedioses You can fight it by unlocking the Secret Episode. The unlock criteria depend on the mode you chose at the beginning.
For standard mode, you have to complete the sticker album with Terra, Aqua and Ven, clear the Final Episode (which can be unlocked by clearing all 3 stories and collecting all the Xehanort reports) and defeat 9999 Unversed overall.
For Proud Mode, you need to complete the Sticker Albums and clear the Final Episode.
For Critical Mode, you just need to clear the Final Episode
