I mean, Allan even confuses Bateman with someone else simply cuz they wear the same suit and glasses... They are so obsessed with materialism, they identify each other not by their faces, they look nothing like, but by their clothing.

Sure enough at 4:40 you can see there's absolutely no blood behind him. This proves the movie is shot from the two perspectives, one of Bateman's and one of everyone else in the movie- what's actually happening.
The events in the story are actually real. The reasons why Bateman is never caught is because of Yuppie culture and the Social divide. The only person who ever calls him out is the Taxi driver who was Solly’s friend (the taxi driver from the police chase).
His problem is that he lives in a post-modern world in the 1%. He wants to stand out and his frustrations escape through his murders (they are an example of his hedonistic, night-time behaviour). It is only until the end of the film that he realises his fate, it is impossible to stand out, everyone including him are almost the same person. The sign on the door behind him reads “This is not an exit”, as a reference to the play No Exit - which is a play about Hell.
