Todd and Neenee, I couldn't believe your surprise passenger, but I couldn't hold back some tears when you revealed "Miss" Mina was it! You both are so gracious doing this for her grandmother, and then stopping in visiting and helping the disadvantaged villagers, and especially those same blind grandmothers; I just lost it (still teary eyed, so 😋thank you for that, too, lol) and a big huge Thank You 👍to your subscriber, Robert, 👍for your available generosity to help out as well! Mina is the sweetest, most adorable little angel, yet, and her parroting was such a sweet part of her happy personality I laughed and loved all that interaction, it was precious. She's clearly in love, or at least 'loves' you both so much it beams from her with brilliance. And she's learning and seeing so much more - likely for the first time - by being with' you two, it made this video just truly excellent, mate! (or as you Aussies say?, I think: bonza, beaut, lol) I'm also hoping there will be more of this 'same-same' in the future for her, and with you both, too. And also hoping you somehow locate and unburden any guilt (truly not your own fault nor should you ever think that in the slightest way) about how you still feel for the, "Kor nae khao nom" girl, Todd, it again must remind you of that unfulfilled request. I surely wouldn't have known the question she asked, either, so I do hope that she's found for you (bloody, lol) soon, too. It would be purely amazing to see it in a future video so please, please share that if it ever comes to pass. Always wishing you both to "Stay Happy, Healthy and Safe," my friends.

Mina is the luckiest little girl in the world to have you two!! and your story about the little girl in the village who just wanted a kanom and that you’re going to try and find her… you have such a big heart. This is her very 1st experience with meeting people she hasnt known every day of her little life. She looks happy and excited. That little girl is wicked smart. She'll have English down shortly. @@NowinLao Dad is doing ok. He turned 88 on the 13th of July. We both had covid 1st part of may,,not to terribly sick,,just felt shitty for 2 weeks,,,then 3 weeks ago he spent a few hours with a friend and 2 days later we both tested positive,,had headaches and breathing issues 1 or 2 nights,,but mostly felt fine,,,so I guess he's a tough old man. Our roadie isnt happening until October,,when the desert cools down to 80 or below. That little girl,,,her giggle just makes me feel good. Boy,,,she sure fell for Neenee and you. Mina will have a chance now,,that a crapton of rural Lao kids will never have

I was thinking this might be miss Mina's first car trip? I was about her age when I used to sit on grandpas lap and steer our old 1956 Ford truck on the dirt road to our desert cabin out in 29 Palms, CA. Good to see those adorable dimples again!

Thabok is South of a giant pig farm. Not sure if it is still operating after the cull. ASF (African Swine Fever) outbreak was the death of many an operation .
That effects the local chain supply.
Now CP is all frozen Thai /Amercian lean meat everywhere. Tasteless in comparison.
I hope we can save 'Muu Lat' and the other native Lao Pig breeds. We have Lao Hmong, and the wild boar breeds too. And some Vietnamese style ones in the far south. All are more fat, leas piglets, but better taste. Fat cooks off and a healthier meat with more flavour. Darker colour meat.
Once it is gone, its gone. I am breeding smaller pig beeds at my Ostrich place. Cya soon.

Those Sago Palms by the hong nam would sell for thousands in the US. My parents had 2 in the front yard around 6ft tall they didn't want and sold to someone for $5K total! If you haven't seen it, check out the rice tractor drag racing from Thailand (the footage of plowing reminded me). Really great to see Mina able to see a bit more of the big world and gain experiences for her hopefully bright future!

Here in California we drink original Coke. It has cane sugar and is imported from Mexico. Used to be hard to find. I don't drink enough to worry about the sugar but the original is the best.Took the road all the way south in 1999 and the whole road was the pits. Road an old bus and all we did was eat dusk. Swore we won't ride it again so we flew back to Vientiane..None of all the food stalls along the way. There was almost nothing.;
Yeah, the road is better, but still a long boring trip down there. You really have to get off the main roads to see anything.
Wow, never before have I related so thoroughly to a video, of one man's struggle to find some goddamn diet soda. It's a constant struggle. God help you if you want one without caffeine.

No papers, but her grandmothers only a phone call away. 😉
Just guessing for the smoked pork that they rely more on air drying than using a dedicated smokehouse - so probably not cost effective to make during wet season and risk of spoilage - busy roadside markets probably cant make/store enough before wet season.

@@NowinLao its along those lines some select real spanish hams or italian salamis cannot be exported to certain countries without drastic penalty. but more in the vein (i reckon?) due to risky microbes from the air drying process rather than the initial curing or smoking.
some sausages in rural France can look covered in green mould. but just fine. up to you if risk the “skin” but generally fine if only looks off putting.
