Pretty neat video with simple editing. Informative and short despite me knowing nothing about Homebrew cause I've never had a Wii. One little tip is try to balance the audio out. Might want to lower the music a little bit so your voice can be heard more clearer.
Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately my editor's audio capabilities are very limited- and that's been a problem for me for a while. So I may switch editors for better balancing and audio control.

I do have to disagree with one thing (sorta). Super Mario Bros is available legally on NSO. The argument that if you can't buy it on the Wii anymore means it is ok doesn't hold water. Besides, there is a limit to the number of WADs you can have installed and you can play SMB through the FCE Ultra emulator or Retroarch. Retroarch I think can do almost every game that was available on the WiiShop although it is best to have the N64 WADs.
I guess that's true- however I didn't pick Super Mario Bros as a way to validate my point about wiiware. I picked it because it has sentimental value to me. I fully understand and agree with your point though
Oh I get the nostalgicness. I wish I could play duck hunt w/o a CRT and a crosshair on the screen. Seems like cheating. There are modern ways on LCDs but they are pricy. I had the Mario/Duck Hunt NES pack with the orange zapper when I was a kid. @@Everything-Wii

And, while most people won't find them useful (in which case NSO would be the best option) but there are also people like you and me that like the nostalgia or want something else from the game that an emulator/wad offers. But for the general population your point is a great one. 👍
I decided that I have too much backlog, too little time and I just want to play Nintendo games. Not a Nintendo fan boy, just that is what I grew up with, had Nintendo Power, etc. but I missed out on many a game across all the systems, not having a Nintendo system from the NES and GB until the Wii and 3DS. Now I have everything in some sort of way. My favorite system would have to be the Wii with some games from the Wii U. Just recently got my HDMI modded Wii with 2TB drive hooked up. Got a Wii U and GameCube there as well. I have a GB, GBC and GBA but I also got the Analogue Pocket for those. I do have an NES and an SNES Classic but I got the Pocket for that but some I play on the Switch. The only thing I have to software emulate is the N64. Someday, I'll get a Mister or MARS for that. Anyway, loving your channel, subscribed but I would bring in some GC and Wii U content (close enough right?). @@Everything-Wii

I don't have a Wii U - so I'm not quite sure if it would work. You could try USB loader gx which emulates the wads. It might just be a trial and error thing...

@@Not-that_guy hold up, turns you can switch the region on the wii shop channel revival. Just go to the settings and features and click change region. That should fix your problem

Well that usually means that the game's region is different than that of the console. Try region freeing your wii or change the region of the website in the settings.
@@STyX883 yeah, no problem! 1. So you have your wad file that you downloaded. 2. Put this file on the SD card in a place you will remember. I usually just put it on the SD card not in any folder. I allways wanted to biy stuff on the wii channel but never asked my mother if i could, and didn't get any gift cards from freinds or family so i saddly never got anything i think the first time i ever got anything from a online consol shop was the xbox 360 when i got some dlc for cod black ops
Interesting video, I added the d2x cios (d2x v11 beta 1) and I created an emunand on usb loader gx, wads will not lauch, I get a black screen and have to restart the system. This happens with every Wiiware and I made sure to check the regions, and had the right cios. Not risking bricking my system on nand

When will this work on the Wii and can somebody make it download without wad and insta-stall to the Wii no confusing wads required and make it that simple for people who aren’t hackers. When this is is finished and has all the games please fix the issue so it is genuinely the Wii shop channel I’m sure that many people will be happy if you make it simple and on a big enough screen.

If u go to a channel that wasn’t fully downloaded and click on the wii shop icon or whatever it is i can’t remember it will sometimes let you in, now you will probably say “but you can just click on the wii shop” well yes but no if u do it will come up with a error

Saying there's not a legal way to obtain these games then showing Super Mario Bros is quite false seeing as how you can legally obtain and play a copy on the Nintendo Switch by paying for NSO. I would highly suggest you get the notion that any emulation is somehow legal out of your mind and vocabulary. It's a gray area at best, treat it that way.
Emulation itself is perfectly legal (see Sony v Bleem). Making your own backups of games is also legal (see www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-digital.html ). The only part that isn't explicitly legal is distributing and receiving copyrighted materials (ROMs, ISOs, and BIOS files), which is explicitly illegal.
It's all about innovation. While you can get it on nso, you can't on the wii. And I prefer the wiis controls. Not to mention the virtual consoles. I picked the mario bros one because it had sentimental value to me, not as an example of what's justified and what isn't.
Okay, here's what I eas trying to say. Yes. These games are pirated. The emulator itself is fine. But it's somewhat justifies to use them because there isn't a legal way to obtain them.
NSO isn't a fair comparison to Wii Virtual Console. You can't buy Super Mario Bros. anymore. It's just a service that will expire. On the other hand, I still have my legit Super Mario Bros. for the Wii that I got years ago. Plus emulation is legal. Piracy is illegal. But there is no way to get Super Mario Bros. permanently and have Nintendo profit from it, so pirating it doesn't cut into their revenue stream. Super Mario Bros. as a service isn't what people want. Plus saying that any emulation is a gray area at best doesn't make sense, given that tons of companies sell emulated versions of their games online (Sega for instance). Of course, I'm not saying that a Wii shop revival is legal (far from it), but NSO is not a suitable replacement for everyone.
You do- however it mostly came from a single viral video. My goal isn't to go viral- it's to slowly build up an audience so I can continually get thousands of views per video. You haven't done that, in fact you only have about 300,000 views outside that viral video. And your latest videos are only getting a few hundred. So just because I have fewer subs, that doesn't mean I'm doing things wrong. I'm just approaching everything differently. And I've also achieved 1000 subs in fewer videos. I have only 25 long-form videos, and you have hundreds and hundreds of shorts. But congrats on going viral (33M views is something) it's something that most people can't do.
This is really helpful, I saw a video on the RiiShop a while back & was waiting for that(I was unaware of the controversy) but it's nice to find this one that explains how this works cause before hand I was under some weird impression it only allowed you to get certain wii channel things like the weather channel & Wii Speak or something. I'll have to try to keep an eye on this & see how things update or something eventually. That & I'm a little busy so don't have a moment to setup homebrew but I should get to it at some point.
Well, by the book, this is illegal. However, it's usually overlooked considering these games aren't supported or sold anymore. That being said, if you are distributing roms, chances are you'll get in trouble. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it 😁
Do you need to have a modded Wii to do this if so can you show a tutorial using a USB to mod or get the game u want because my PC doesn't have an SD card slot or can I just install Dolphin and put the games I want on the Wii System Menu?
Hello! Yes, dolphin fully works with WAD files. you don't even need to install the "system menu" you just have to open up the wad the same as you would with a normal wii game. Hope this helps!
To mod your Wii google 'wii hacks guide' and you'll find the guide on how to complete mod your wii and add software to restore some missing features like RiiConnect24. YT comments don't allow URLs anymore otherwise I'd put it here. Yes Dolphin works great and even better with the Dolphin Bar but there is nothing like a real Wii. And yes, Wii > Wii U when Wii and GameCube games are involved. I must say though, GC games look pretty sweet on a modded Wii U and forced widescreen.
This sucks its just a website, why cant someone port it over to be an actual Wii Channel otherwise you can just download the WAD files which would be a lot better of an experience

Umm... pretendo is a 3ds service. This is a wii service. It's not even a homebrew mod. Watch the entire video, it'll give you a better idea of what it is.
If you are only playing retro games, wiiware, etc. Then that should be more than enough. However, if you plan on backing up your wii games and gamecube games (which one alone can reach over 4 GB) than you will want to have a larger card.

Well, unless you have set the file directory for ALL downloaded files to an SD card, no. But it's pretty easy to drag over.

On vwii, yes. I don't have a wii u so I don't know if the technique is any different, but it should be the same.
Does it work with the Wii U? Like with the vWii? Because the vWii is picky with their wads, regular wii wads won't work on the vWii 😅

Is the game on the SD card home menu? Most games need to be on the home menu to work, unless you install modmii. That's a whole thing.

Interesting video, I added the d2x cios (d2x v11 beta 1) and I created an emunand on usb loader gx, wads will not lauch, I get a black screen and have to restart the system. This happens with every Wiiware and I made sure to check the regions, and had the right cios. Not risking bricking my system on nand
I've had this problem too... it's why I stopped using usb loader for wads and just installed them onto my menu. Nothing works on it.

It has two methods, however if possible use letterbomb (no internet) as it has the best success rate.
When will this work on the Wii and can somebody make it download without wad and insta-stall to the Wii no confusing wads required and make it that simple for people who aren’t hackers. When this is is finished and has all the games please fix the issue so it is genuinely the Wii shop channel I’m sure that many people will be happy if you make it simple and on a big enough screen.
There was a service called riishop that did exactly that. However it has been shut down. This service is simply a website that downloads wads.

Saying there's not a legal way to obtain these games then showing Super Mario Bros is quite false seeing as how you can legally obtain and play a copy on the Nintendo Switch by paying for NSO.
I would highly suggest you get the notion that any emulation is somehow legal out of your mind and vocabulary. It's a gray area at best, treat it that way.
Emulation itself is perfectly legal (see Sony v Bleem). Making your own backups of games is also legal (see www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-digital.html ). The only part that isn't explicitly legal is distributing and receiving copyrighted materials (ROMs, ISOs, and BIOS files), which is explicitly illegal.
It's all about innovation. While you can get it on nso, you can't on the wii. And I prefer the wiis controls. Not to mention the virtual consoles. I picked the mario bros one because it had sentimental value to me, not as an example of what's justified and what isn't.
Yeah there's emulation going on but your not pirating only the rom. The emulator itself is being pirated aswell..... it's literally just piracy.
Okay, here's what I eas trying to say. Yes. These games are pirated. The emulator itself is fine. But it's somewhat justifies to use them because there isn't a legal way to obtain them.
NSO isn't a fair comparison to Wii Virtual Console. You can't buy Super Mario Bros. anymore. It's just a service that will expire. On the other hand, I still have my legit Super Mario Bros. for the Wii that I got years ago. Plus emulation is legal. Piracy is illegal. But there is no way to get Super Mario Bros. permanently and have Nintendo profit from it, so pirating it doesn't cut into their revenue stream. Super Mario Bros. as a service isn't what people want. Plus saying that any emulation is a gray area at best doesn't make sense, given that tons of companies sell emulated versions of their games online (Sega for instance). Of course, I'm not saying that a Wii shop revival is legal (far from it), but NSO is not a suitable replacement for everyone.

You do- however it mostly came from a single viral video. My goal isn't to go viral- it's to slowly build up an audience so I can continually get thousands of views per video. You haven't done that, in fact you only have about 300,000 views outside that viral video. And your latest videos are only getting a few hundred. So just because I have fewer subs, that doesn't mean I'm doing things wrong. I'm just approaching everything differently. And I've also achieved 1000 subs in fewer videos. I have only 25 long-form videos, and you have hundreds and hundreds of shorts. But congrats on going viral (33M views is something) it's something that most people can't do.

This is really helpful, I saw a video on the RiiShop a while back & was waiting for that(I was unaware of the controversy) but it's nice to find this one that explains how this works cause before hand I was under some weird impression it only allowed you to get certain wii channel things like the weather channel & Wii Speak or something.
I'll have to try to keep an eye on this & see how things update or something eventually. That & I'm a little busy so don't have a moment to setup homebrew but I should get to it at some point.

Well, by the book, this is illegal. However, it's usually overlooked considering these games aren't supported or sold anymore. That being said, if you are distributing roms, chances are you'll get in trouble. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it 😁

Hello! Yes, dolphin fully works with WAD files. you don't even need to install the "system menu" you just have to open up the wad the same as you would with a normal wii game. Hope this helps!

To mod your Wii google 'wii hacks guide' and you'll find the guide on how to complete mod your wii and add software to restore some missing features like RiiConnect24. YT comments don't allow URLs anymore otherwise I'd put it here. Yes Dolphin works great and even better with the Dolphin Bar but there is nothing like a real Wii. And yes, Wii > Wii U when Wii and GameCube games are involved. I must say though, GC games look pretty sweet on a modded Wii U and forced widescreen.
The dolphin emulator can also use wad files.

Well, the developer of this website isn't experienced in wii channel building. Also, we had a beta of one, called riishop, but that closed down.

Yep! I've used YAWM before, works really well, even better than MMM in fact.

If you wanna use mmm, put it on the sd card anywhere. But you can also use wii mod lite if you need to use usb.

If you are only playing retro games, wiiware, etc. Then that should be more than enough. However, if you plan on backing up your wii games and gamecube games (which one alone can reach over 4 GB) than you will want to have a larger card.
I also have a 32 gigabyte SD card. Plus can I also download roms like Priiloader?
A 32 GB should work. With that you can install anything. Don't go over 32, most wiis can't detect those cards.
