I used to have almost every NES, Gameboy, and SNES game released in the US, except most realistic sports games (I only like the exaggerated sports titles like NBA Jam). Kept the boxes and manuals to all the games as well. I never ripped or threw them out either. Unlike most collectors, I did play the games that I owned and beat most of them, even the tedious ones like Mario Is Missing, lol. For my really favorite games I used to buy a second copy that I would keep sealed, for reasons unknown to me. I guess I was obsessed. My closet had more games and consoles than it did clothes and my family was pissed at me for it. They told me it as a form of hoarding and I needed to stop. One day in the early 2000s I decided to sell the games and systems I was no longer using to free up space. That, and I had discovered emulation, not just on PC, but on the Dreamcast. I had (and still do) a single CD with every NES game on it that plays great on the Dreamcast. It's crazy that people are now paying small fortunes for games that I use to buy brand new really cheap. Hell, there was a used game store about 15 minutes from where I used to live where they sold used games for $5 or less. Only the super popular ones sold for more than $5, and it didn't even matter what system it was for. If I had known that those games would have skyrocketed in value, I would have kept them because in present day I would have enough to buy more than a couple of houses and vehicles. Holy crap! Damn I should have at least kept the sealed ones, they were in perfect condition! But I will say that having freed up space is nicer in the home. Nowadays I focused on building machines that can play everything as to not clutter my home again like when I was younger.

Lol in a kind way I gotta point this out 👉 "this one has a little mark there" the game store collector games should all be wrapped in bubble wrap each for most of them instead of all touching each other which I'm sure has bunches of marks, edge wear.. Etc. I'm surprised these expensive games are like that. Then when people like that sell them they always expect top dollar and usually package them very poorly. People with money like this should be helping their family, the community, saving their money. Just play emulators! These games just will sit and not be used plus discs and cartridges don't last forever I read. People buying 5K shoes and up while millions have no shoes makes me sick. I watch Pawn Stars and Rick bought a tiny book for 100K and wanted to celebrate with wine while in Italy like it was a proud accomplishment. I would love to see people using that kind of money to make huge differences that matter. It won't make these millionaires poor to do that. Other than that I love video games and enjoy watching the videos. :)

I still think id rather just emulate all of my games. This whole collecting thing is a fad thats going to die off when people realize they started a generation of hoarders.

Ironic that these things are only valuable because so many people over time have thrown the other copies away. The definition of one persons trash is a game collectors treasure.
