      My husband and brother started eating the Impossible Whopper vs. the "real" thing even though they both love meat, and they choose it for the taste now. They have brought friends to try it, too, who are far from vegan, and they all like it, some even saying they would start to choose it simply because the wrapper isn't dripping with grease/fat like the actual Whopper. However, they put actual Mayo on it, so you gotta ask them to omit it if you want it to be vegan.

      I planted this comment in a few places to stir a real dialogue between a lot of meat eaters who viewed your video, and as you can read, I stirred up a lot of minds to investigate the WFPB approach. I hope to hear how you'd respond to this new evidence.
      As I posted to a person here, so you know where I stand on meat vs. WFPB,
      "I support freedom to choose all the way. At the same time, we all have the right to seek the truth as deep as we find sensible and lawful, resulting in pleasantness for us and planet. Our choices should be informed from reality truth, rather than uninformed or bent truth in favor of the seller. Sadhguru has good advice, in order for humanity to come to terms with ourselves, the goodness of the planet, etc, we must have freedom of choice, but we dont have to respect each other's choices, in fact the choice to "eat whatever you want" under the flag of "freedom of choice" is an illusion in your mind because every choice affects everything else around you, either making pleasantness or unpleasantness for people and planet, Isnt that so?"

      @@VivaLaRaw, well, breathless and overblown pearl-clutching is good for trolling, so congratulations on that, but the only "discussion" I saw from meat-eaters was the usual "hurr durr, grassfed tho, hurr durr... hurrrrr..." that they would have posted anyway.
      And for the record: The association between exposure to glyphosate and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was enough for the WHO's cancer research division to place it in the category of "probably carcinogenic", the same as red meat. What's more, the LD50 for glyphosate ingestion in rats is more than 20x that of caffeine, so it possible that ingestion isn't even the vector by which glyphosate causes cancer, if in fact it does. All of the successful lawsuits where plaintiffs claimed Round-up gave them cancer were farmers who had used it on crops for many years, and therefore would have been exposed by skin contact, breathing fumes, and possibly by contact with breakdown products or products of reactions with other chemicals it might have come in contact with. There are a lot of legitimate reasons to deplore Monsanto and to be concerned about the overuse of glyphosate, but the breathless pearl-clutching over foods containing miniscule amounts is probably misplaced.

      @@VivaLaRaw Exactly, it's worse than even feedlot beef for that and other reasons. It's ironic because vegans like to blow out of proportion the cancer risk of conventional animal foods, and act like it somehow applies to all animal foods. It blows my mind how vegans can say 5 eggs equals 1 cigarette and act like ANY animal foods are even in the same realm, and wonder why people don't take that seriously.
      Same goes for ethics and the environment, when the best pasture-raised beef is arguably more beneficial to the environment than harmful, and the cows are hardly suffering their whole lives, but just because they MUST be killed, it's 'murder'. It amazes me how much animal death and actual suffering happens just to save ONE pasture-raised cow, 1 million calories in one cow, 1 million calories of crops even if there's zero deaths somehow, it'll starve out countless animals that manage to survive the harvesting and agrochemicals.
      Then there's IGF-1, which increases risk of tumor growth, but vegans don't realize it's because it increases growth of everything, which isn't a bad thing. Spiking it too much too often is bad, that's why following a keto/carnivore diet it's a good idea to do 1-2 meals, and not at all difficult anyway. Eating only 1-2x a day is foreign to vegans, they eat almost as many times a day as they shit. Vegan athletes get injured and don't heal like they should for a reason, maybe they should spike their IGF-1 more and get over the fear of increasing risk of tumor growth, and get over the fat/cholesterol phobia while they're at it.

    The Impossible Burger has 4.2 mg of iron per serving (25% daily requirement). For someone like me who has a HFE gene mutation = 4x more iron absorption) - that’s 100% of my daily requirement. I’ve heard that they add heme iron to this burger to make it taste like meat. Heme iron is in meat and is easily absorbed - plants have nonheme iron which is harder to absorb. Iron is an oxidant (ages you) and as you get older you absorb more iron anyway. It turns out bacteria in the lower gut LOVE iron. After finding out I had the HFE iron-loading gene -I switched to eating vegan ( avoiding heme iron) and cured my gut infection. I will not be eating this high iron-containing burger!

    • @FloydFreud
      @FloydFreud 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting perspective. You usually hear carnists crying that you can't get iron on a vegan diet, which is of course false. Do you actually over-absorb iron even as a vegan?

    • @Mandomine
      @Mandomine 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FloydFreud After finding out that I had 2 copies of an iron-loading gene (HFE gene), I read that people with this gene can absorb up to 4 x as much iron than normal. I read that heme iron was more easily absorbed than nonheme iron. I also read that the body might be able to regulate the absorption of iron uptake (nonheme iron) from plant sources. Armed with that information, I theorized that my gene mutation is a "famine" gene mutation that allows for easy absorption of iron from any source. At the time, I was suffering a recurring gut infection even though I had been eating healthy = lean organic meats, organic dairy, eggs, whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts & seeds, & organic olive oil. I also read that bacteria LOVE iron. It seemed to me that my chronic gut infection could be recurring due to me providing bad bacteria in my gut, too much iron due to my HFE gene. I decided to cut out meat (heme iron) entirely. After a week or so of no meat, my gut infection & pain went away and hasn't recurred since. I then decided to try eating vegan to cut out saturated animal fat & hormones from (organic!) dairy (especially cow milk-based cheeses, butter, ice cream) and eggs. Since I went vegan, several other health conditions have cleared up. I have a lot more energy. I'm sleeping better now that my digestive problems have gone away - even stopped grinding my teeth at night. I feel SO much better & healthier -so I'll keep eating vegan/vegetarian. I don't have any scientifically verified, double-blind, large population, studies to verify my theory. However, I won't be eating any so-called vegetarian, HEME iron rich, Impossible Burgers. I might as well just eat a real hamburger and get the HEME iron from that!

    • @bluegrasstrain8857
      @bluegrasstrain8857 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Floyd Freud I don’t know, I imagine if the iron is added as a supplement like it is in the Impossible Burger that the answer would be yes. All I can say is, I have this gene, I stopped eating meat, dairy, eggs (except once in a very great while) and my digestion and my skin are becoming healthier. So what I will say is, the vegan diet is working for me. I was aging rapidly, now my body is repairing itself. Some research facility is going to have to do actual verifiable studies on vegan diet + hfe gene in people + iron absorption

I ended up in the hospital and my partner ended the relationship with me saying my vegan diet made me malnourished and if I want to possible have another chance at the relationship I need to “get healthy” I don’t want to eat meat I truly don’t, it’s uncomfortable and I would never find happiness or peace knowing I am eating a sentient being, but I don’t know what to do anymore. It’s not even that my personality sucks, or that I’m a horrible troll girlfriend it’s because my lifestyle is a liability as he said to his career.

      What about "vegan" products, made from a manufacturer that generally makes animal products (ie:hellman vegan mayo, becels vegan margarine, etc). I resent them "having" to test on rats too; but the majority of processed vegan food, is made from unethical companies. Who's to say that we are not subjected by mass cross contamination from these processors; or that every business has never tested on animals? Just sounds like your limiting your product pool.

    • @TheaDragonSpirit
      @TheaDragonSpirit 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stephss How I see it is if the produce it's self isn't tested on animals by that company then it's okay. The point is to have products that didn't need to be tested on animals to exist. Therefore showing it's possible to have products without animal testing. It also makes sense to avoid a company testing on animals, because to me testing on animals is worse in a lot of cases then farming. They basically abuse the animals, then kill the animal and dissect them. Which is worse then farming for meat. So it makes sense to avoid companies doing any animal testing and willing to do testing on animals for products when they don't need to. Within reason, if someone is dependent on life saving drugs and they can't get them from a company that hasn't tested on animals, I put human life first. But there is more and more coming out to make animal testing not needed even in medicine. Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine talks about this if you want to watch their videos.
      Basically go as far as possible to avoid products tested on animals. I don't consider a company that is owned by another company as the same company. If you have a family, and your brother or sister eat meat, that isn't you. So if a company is owned by a company which does animal testing I don't consider that the same. But if you can support new businesses with next to no ties to other businesses, and they're ethical support them. It's just easier said then done for some people. So basically go as far as practically possible to avoid animal testing based on your circumstances.

    • @TheaDragonSpirit
      @TheaDragonSpirit 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stephss Go as far as practically possible to avoid companies that test on animals, within what is possible for you.
      To me what is most important is that a product isn't tested on animals by the company selling the product, and that the company isn't willing to test plant based products on animals. That way vegan products are made without that product directly being the reason that animals suffered. So it's about knowing products can exist without causing unnecessary animal cruelty.
      I think it also makes sense to avoid companies testing on animals were possible if you can. But say a medicine is tested on animals, to me I put peoples health first. Also the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine have videos on how in the future they will not use animals to test medicine. So then this will mean a lot less animal cruelty.
      I personally don't see a sister company or a brother company, or a small company owned by a larger company, as giving money to that company to do animal testing. In that you're supporting the company or products not being tested on animals, and not causing animal cruelty. Just like giving your brother or sister money at Christmas is not you saying go spend it on animal testing. So as long as you're supporting a product that causes no animal exploitation or cruelty that is fine.
      However it makes sense to try give your money to people more likely to spend that money ethically over someone that isn't. So if there is a company that is all vegan and very ethical, and they're creating ethical products and have no real ties with dodgy companies that obviously makes more sense to support them. Basically aim to support those where you think it will lead to money going to people that are more ethically motivated over profit motivated.

      You don’t think it’s alarming how most long-term vegans are frail, emaciated, have thin and wrinkly skin, graying hair, sunken-in eyes, they’re either a bit wacky or mentally unstable, emotionally volatile, delusional, and/or paranoid? And it’s also common for vegans to develop amenorrhea and fertility issues. Think long and hard about how many long-term vegans you’ve seen that are in impressive, glowing health...
      There are quite literally countless people who eat meat, eggs, and dairy on a daily basis who are in glowing health, though

    • @ethicalrevolution3294
      @ethicalrevolution3294 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@powerfulkg5758 Everything you just said is complete nonsense. Paleo-poop or coprolites showed humans were eating at least 100 grams of fiber. That is a lot of plant foods. And that stuff about amenorrhea is only true if someone is eating too few calories, usually if they are eating only fruits in general. But we have evidence that early human ancestors were eating a lot of plant foods, which would provide a lot of calories. They were processing foods, to make them more digestible. Generally through drying and pulverization. Our ancestors have been cooking food for millions of years. And cooking starchy foods has provided massive amounts of energy from USOs underground storage organs. So all you are saying is conjecture and nonsense. Just because some people don't eat enough calories doesn't mean anything. There are plenty of perfectly healthy vegans. People who have been vegan all of their lives. Vegan body builders. Etc. And there are many "omnivore" anorexics. And many omnivore morbidly obese people. So what? And just because people look "Glowing" health. Inside their body is a different story. Up to 70% of young apparently healthy people have the early signs of atherosclerosis on autopsy. So what does that say about all of those "glowing" egg and meat eaters?
