Excellent demonstration of the breakdown and reassembly of the AR-15. You are only the 2nd person I have seen breakdown the bolt carrier group and you went the extra step of removing the extractor and emphasized the need to check and clean it. The only thing, you missed and I suspect it was just a brain fart was performing a function check after reassembly. It looked like you were getting ready to perform it, but skipped ahead. Still, a very informative video with no side commentary. Oh one more thing, have people check the rings on the bolt to insure they are none missing or damaged. Thank you
went over all the basics regular shooters know, but compared to some of the guys videos showing the same stuff - yours is more then a step above the rest and would be a lot of help for people needing to learn the basics. your camera stayed in focus, spoke clear and gave all the necessary information with everything staying clear on camera. 2 thumbs up brother, keep shooting.. 👊

I agree that this was really detailed and understandable video about ar-15 basics. Thanks for taking the time to create and post this video Stanfordcoffee!
I am relatively new to AR's and wanted to watch a good instructional video before disassembling my Ruger AR556 for the first time. I watched half dozen videos on TH-cam before I found your video. None of the other videos were particularly good in showing how to take the bolt carrier group apart. Your presentation is clear and concise and by far the best I found. Thank you very much for posting.
One minor note on the magazine advice (to remove the bullets): the springs in the magazine are not aged by being compressed (i.e.: mag full of ammo), they may be left at full capacity with no wear, they actually age by repetitive motion of change of state of the spring, so be aware that taking unused ammo out of a magazine is actually wearing on the magazine spring. It is better for the magazine spring to leave ammo in place UNLESS of course there is a safety issue (like children potentially gaining access to the HW. Safety first.
I just recently saw a video of someone that left his mags loaded for 10+ years. when compared to a spring that wasn't in the loaded position the loaded spring was actually about an inch shorter. Although it will still work, just so you know it can change the spring. Maybe not all will do it but it can happen. but no loss of spring action from what I saw in that video.

Im a new AR owner, the guy I bought the rifle from gave me a very brief tutorial on how to clean. He only gave me HALF of what you put in your video! I cleaned my rifle again your way before going to the range, it works SO much better now! Great video, brother, well done!!
Truly awesome presentation. Your did an excellent job explaining this procedure, no hiccups, no stalls. Just pure competence in this rifle. Thank you so very much. You made what I considered a daunting job into something I am now super confident I can do tomorrow when I service my AR guns. Thank you so very much.

I just got my AR-15 last week and seeing I'm new to this have been watching a fair amount of these how-to videos. My compliments to you on having one of the best on TH-cam! Easy to understand, no annoying music, and very concise. Thanks again!
Almost the exact same way as my M16 was in the Army...Great presentation!!! I do believe after watching your video that just about everyone should understand everything about the AR....
This is by far the best informative video I've seen yet on TH-cam on how to show a new AR user like myself on how to clean a lower reciever, buffer tube, and how to remove a clean your BCG and how to reinstall. Great reference for on the field, at the range, or at home! Wonderful job explaining! PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS VIDEO DOWN FROM TH-cam. I can always refer back to this video if I need assistance . Very well done. I appreciate you not getting into unnecessary conversation, that just takes my attention away from the subject. You were clear and concise and I was with you every step. Thanks.
Thank you 🙏🏼🤠👍🏼. I’ve watched about a dozen videos tonight on how to field strip & do a basic field expedient clean & reassemble. Enough to make me dizzy. Great video. As a newcomer to the AR I wasn't aware of this for a while.

I realize that I am 10 years late, but this is one of the best videos I have seen on the takedown, cleaning, and reassembling the AR 15 platform rifle. Awesome job by stanfordcoffee!
Thank you for including the safety check at the very beginning. So many people who make these "basics" videos don't do that. Make sure the magazine is removed and the chamber is empty. It's the most basic fundamental of gun safety.

I have a friend that is interested in an AR-15 but is totally new to the platform. I just sent him a link to this video and I cannot imagine that he will have any basic question that you did not address. Very good video.
Thanks, and thanks for sharing it. Hope your friend finds it useful. Cheers
Thank you, I will save this video, so when I clean my rifle, I will be able to disassemble/reassemble it properly.
Im fairly new to the AR platform and still learning, this video is EXACTLY what i needed. A simple step by step guide. Thumbs all the way up.
great video, thanks for making it. Simple and to the point.
I do not personally own an AR-15 but you made the video clear enough to make me believe i can actually disassemble one of those beauties. All I need to know now is how to maintain the condition of the gun (cleaning, putting oil). This video was on point, thank you for sharing.
15407munoz There are two links at the bottom of the description to cleaning and lubricating videos. One by James Yeager, the other Hickok45. They should be able to help you out. Cheers
Excellent video - thanks for making this.
Finally, someone that knows how to teach beginners. Liked and subscribed
What a great vid. Thanks for making it to the point and easy to follow. Rock on!
I realize that I am 10 years late, but this is one of the best videos I have seen on the takedown, cleaning, and reassembling the AR 15 platform rifle. Awesome job by stanfordcoffee!
Considering the AR platform has not changed much in the last 50 years, you didn't miss much. lol Cheers
Excellent video. Thank you.
The best AR video on the internet that I have found, by a long shot. Great job sir thank you much.
This makes me want an AR lol
Love your profile pic man, RIP dime🤘🏻🤘🏻
Do it bro.
Thank you for including the safety check at the very beginning. So many people who make these "basics" videos don't do that. Make sure the magazine is removed and the chamber is empty. It's the most basic fundamental of gun safety.
I'd give you money if you were in front of me. I'm prob going to watch this video many more times
Very instructive video for a beginner particularly the section where you disassemble the bolt. Thank you.
