    When I was a new Christian, I came across 1 Corinthians 11 and was so excited to share with everyone that Christian women are supposed to be covering their heads.
    I was immediately shut down, told I had no idea what I was talking about, that it was just cultural for that time and I just didn’t understand.
    10 years later, I came across that scripture again when I was studying how to be a godly woman and what women’s rules in the church were. So I decided to really study it this time.
    I spent months only studying head, coverings, listening to every preacher I could find, most of whom said it’s cultural. But they could never get any scriptural evidence that it’s cultural, and the few pastors I heard that would say it is for all time gave copious amounts of scriptural evidence.
    1 Corinthians itself gives many non cultural reasons why women should cover their heads; Because of headship, creation order, the angels, nature,
    Because God said it’s a dishonor not to, because it’s a new tradition that was given to all those who in every place call in the name of Lord Jesus Christ.
    And on top of all that just a few chapters earlier it says that “no human being might boast before God” (“no flesh should glory before God”), then in the same letter, it proceeds to tell us that man is the glory of God women is the glory of man and woman’s hair is her glory.
    That blew my mind!
    And completely makes sense why men would NOT cover their head, but women would cover, and in particular cover their hair.
    God often gives us symbols to remember important concepts; baptism, communion…
    I have now been covering in church for over a year.
    I and my daughter are the only ones.

      It also doesn't say we should be attending "church" in elaborate buildings, but rather gathering in community and fellowship.

      I recently.began covering and a day or so later whilst reading Isaiah 47 1-3 I understood it is hugely symbolic if a faithful,.modest, and.submissive bride of Christ and wife. It's soo important yet many Christians don't know.

    Why do you use the scarf underneath (green one) ?
    How do you keep your cover from slipping back?

    • @GraftedInDotCom
      @GraftedInDotCom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shaina prefers to use one underneath to help with any slipping that could occur as well as evens out the bun shape. It really depends on your hair type though. You could also try a non-slip velcro headband. These work well. Blessings!

      You might have to "fake" a bun; either with a volumizer (as sold by Wrapunzel), or DIY methods. There are TH-cam videos for that. I simply gather my hair in a mini ponytail and slip a sock bun maker (donut shaped nylon spongy thing, sold with hair accessories in stores). Maybe a scrunchie on top of that, and that's enough volume. 😊

      If you can afford it, you might want to try a volumizer as sold by Wrapunzel. I would imagine that they feel pleasant even with no or little hair (not scratchy). I have seen TH-cam videos on how to "fake" buns or volume with socks or extra scarves. Someone here suggested a new, unused bath sponge underneath the tube scarf.

    What is the purpose of a covering under the scarf? I’m learning so I can wrap my hair properly

    • @thekingsdaughter4233
      @thekingsdaughter4233 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's kind of containing the hair (especially if you have shorter strands); maybe giving more stability to the updo/bun. It's all tied up in there, so the main scarf is easier to tie on. It might also help to keep the upper scarf from slipping off. _My_ hair is VERY "slippery" (and short), so I like volumizers with velvet anti-slip parts, or wig grip headbands (also made from velvet. You can find volumizers and headbands at Wrapunzel.com or Etsy and Amazon. 😊

    Christian women do not need to wear a head covering. 1 Corinthians 11:15 & 16
    But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering. But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.
    This is for pagan women. Not required for true, Christ followers.
