I’d buy this clone and then modify it for my own taste, but Behringer has grown on me over the years and I think they do alright clones for reasonable prices.
Yeah I’m keen to try their most recent line of gear for sure. It’s certainly no less good than the warm or lindell audio stuff. Circuit wise they’re all very similar.
Behringer is excellently doing musical technologies. Done very well for low cost and rising the quality. So as long as quality does not drop and they existing product and make useful new in low quantity plus add foreign flavor such as African and Latin and include for this new population some sounds they will stay forward. Never forget however that the Celtic tones fit half the world’s sounds and wear some kilt sound now is boom big and ‼️ bang ‼️
A Behringer Fairchild would be great. To be honest, the cost of tubes and transformers isn't that high, and it's extremely old technology. Paying over the odds for any Audio hardware is, these day's, just a vanity project. But as long as people ignore the reality that the end product, i.e. the actual music product that this insanely expensive gear has helped create, has been made virtually worthless for most artists other than the elite ones, then the illusion will persist. When people wake up and realise the real economics of the current music "business", then the illusion will be shattered and the market will rationalise itself. Buying expensive music gear is not an investment anymore.
@@diyrecordingstudio If you happen to have the Royal Blue Colour module, that could be worth comparing, even if its technically 81 inspired. Happy building!
Just stumbled upon your channel tonight Sir. Always curious about equipment/routing/recording optimization in my humble home project studio. As far as dollar per DB of pure fidelity/ input quotient value goes, what's your opinion on the SSL BIG SIX vs the TASCAM model 2400? I generally play with programming 1 synthesizer at a time, but have recently acquired a sequencer that can poly-sequence all my 10 midi outboards plus 6 more digi onboards. Getting them into my DAW via analogue is the issue. Don't think the SSL can handle the inputs, but fidelity will surely be better?
Live mixing desks normally have the inputs at the back top for easy access if the mix engineer needs to quickly move a lead, but for a studio, you want them at the back not only to hide the cables but also to not put a lot of strain on the cables, since they are normally plugged in and left alone for some time.
Was going to suggest to compare against the pre573 premier as well. I have one at moment with another on the way - but also likely to build a DIYRE unit before too long too, as I’ve come to learn I actually enjoying building!
I’d jump on a Behringer Fairchild for sure. Will it be the same quality as the Stam? Obviously not but having dealt with Stam once, I’d never want repeat that experience.
Damnnn son if the Behrchild actually comes in at 1500 or less I would try one 🤣 🤣🤣. If it’s bad, it would look really cool in my studio from far away and be a funny flex lol. If it’s half decent, well, then, I’ll use it… I don’t have a vari mu compressor and I’ve been all over the Fairchild clone market recently. I wouldn’t particularly care that much if it doesn’t sound “exactly” like a Fairchild. First of all, there’s no way I would expect that in this scenario and from all the demos I’ve heard the UAD plug-in is close enough that I’m really just more interested in getting my hands on that style of compression. I think it’s an interesting idea honestly. The brand name scares me off a little bit when it comes to attempting something like this, but these days you could definitely build SOMETHING at least solid and fun to use for that price. Who knows, I think they should do it lol
Hahahaha Behrchild! So good! Who wouldnt wanna try it. I have some vari-mu's as mentioned. Theyre never what people think. Warm and thick like tubes but also super punchy like a vca comp. Really cool type of compressor.
I am also got the red special even though I don’t play guitar Brian made guitar guess it could be from guild 699$ at the time! its like tascam trying to catch up to allen and heath from 15 years ago.... as for the berimu... thats a lot of tubes and transformers to squeek into their stated price range. and the thing is, so few people have the real thing to do proper comparisons and either way, even if it doesnt "sound the same" your probably getting a good compressor for the price.
Yeah its an interesting choice of console. I have the A&H GS-R24 which is a much better, albeit originally more expensive, console for the money. Yeah if they did the vari-mu it could sound good. My tubecore 500's are amazing. If they did something similar, people would dig it.
