Great review Parker! I just got my Ronin S and enjoyed watching this video. Keep up the great work. Oh and I'll let ya know how the Ronin S does out of a car moving significantly faster than what you guys were going! LOL Like 60+ mph.
Totally worth it though I promise. I can’t afford to just purchase one outright, but recently I did get a gimbal for work and the quality went up, substantially and noticeably.
DJI did a great job releasing the Ronin S Essential that's $499 instead of $749. That gives them a huge advantage over their competition, in my opinion.
This is a very THOROUGH, well thought out, comparison. Thank you for putting your time and energy into this. I've been thinking about the DJI Ronin S. It looks phenomenal.
Awesome comparison. I’ve had the ronin s now for a week and a half. I’m a huge glidecam guy but had high hopes for the ronin s so I bought it. ITS FREAKING INCREDIBLE. I run the same setup as you except my main lens is a 24-70. I was filming a Doc in Alaska last week and was specifically shooting a high adventure salmon fishing trip where we flew out into the wilderness on a float plane. I wanted to get a super cinematic take off of the float plane so I had our fishing guide go full blast at 40mph high winds. 1DX mark ii at 70 mm smooth as butter even with all that wind. Blew my mind. Would of been an impossible shot on a glidecam and who has room for a regular ronin... I’m loving this thing.
One of the best reviews and comparisons I have ever watched, I have a Crane 2 and seriously thinking about upgrading to Ronin S, BTW this is my first comment on youtube :) keep the good work.
Man your reviews are simply the BEST. Thanks a lot for putting this stuff out there and doing it with such care and quality. Best from a Swiss filmmaker, Nick
Awesome!! Better review. Your way to explain each detail is very clear and to the goal. You really have consideration on the viewer's time. Other filmmakers/reviewers sounds like they were selling the product.
I bought the DJI Ronin S with top hot shoe bracket and ext. GPS module around last Feburary due to the deep effect of this video, and the weight of the gimbal set is only only only... 2 Kg (=4.4 lb) except the camera. But, the quality and the stabilization ability of the Ronin s gimbal shows top priority in the market I thought. Thank you so much...
Yes. So this test doesn't mean much because the "Default" settings are different from gimbal to gimbal. For PARALLAX can Zhiyun Gimbal adjust the settings optimally with the App and everything is smooth and beautiful. :)
Parker Walbeck for sure. Your video on real estate push me to do it. If you will come to Amalfi Coast ( Position, Sorrento, Capri, etc.) Keep in touch, you will be my guest
Parker I own the Ronin S and love it. Your comparison video was by far the best. An actual professional testing and comparing is great. Good job man you also have inspired me to try real estate video as I already photograph them.
I use the Crane 2 on every work I do with a smaller, lighter camera than the 1DXii and I can say it works pretty good, even with zoom lenses , which of course will change the balance of the gimbal. I did not experience some of the issues that Parker finds with an heavier camera. It does work very good if you don't need to get too extreme shots. So, if you use a lighter camera, maybe you're on the budget and maybe you shoot weddings or events (like I do) and you don't need to get crazy fast camera work, the Crane 2 is a very good choice and you will feel satisfied. Also, it now comes with the servo focus included. However I see the Ronin S having one BIG advantage: you can see the camera screen! In my opinion, the real down side of the Crane 2 is that you can't properly see the screen. It isn't a problem if you have a flip screen or use accessories to mount an external monitor (that's what I do when I have the time). You will get used to that but sometimes it's just hard to use. Awesome review Parker, really "real life" focused! You're always a great inspiration!
I just used the Ronin S first time the other day....game changer. insanely easy to balance/ quick set up, can actually see the screen, motion smoother, the thumb knob controller makes for quick pans
I have learned lot of things from full-time filmmaker TH-cam channel. And you inspired me so that I could able to make a steadycam like glidecam hd 4000 by my self thanks for all wishes from srilanka❤
Parker Walbeck I challenge you if you still have that flycam to put a glidecam foot plate/base on the bottom of the flycam instead and see if you get better results! 🤔
Your bicep veins went from poppin to nearly exploding over the course of filming this video lol. Really good video! I haven't seen any footage with sports mode and I'm impressed.
After field test on Wedding, head to head for whole day... Crane2 is monster. Beast. Except fancy rubber and usefull joystick, we haven't found a single reason not to return it and buy another Crane2. Laggy, slow, undefined movements. Back motor placement doesn't make a difference at all since we are using gh5 and flipout screen is on the side anyway. Position of some buttons scream for mistaken push... Overall in real-life these specs are nothing much. Controlled conditions test is one thing but 12-13h of work on the field are completely something else.

I just ordered the DJI Ronin-S on sale for $549 which is $200 off it's Reg. Price: of $749.00 from B&H Photo so my decision was a no brainer! I picked the RONIN over Zhiyun since it was the same price LMAOOOOO! Limited Quantities remain it's the end of the year sales till New Years Eve! Better hurry and cop one! Thank me later!
Hey Parker, what do you think of making a fail compilation. The way you walk and focus on the camera and the object you're filming, you must have hit your head and stumbled plenty of times 😂
I thought this was going to be a product comparison ... it turned out to also be a thriller. You and that fire hydrant at 8:15 - I thought it was going to be a wipe-out! Whew!
Sorry but this is heavily biased against the crane 2. And to be honest... I'm angered by your ignorance. You can alter the settings of the crane 2 to create the exact same shot but you just ignore that. Using two hands on the DJI instead of one on the crane. No crap is it going to be smoother! I can't believe that you trust the battery life spec, it's most likely going to run out after 8 hours. I just don't understand the logic of not wanting to have the removable batteries. It's vital no matter who you are.
Activate Halo I was about to say the same thing lol the DJI check was probably nice enough to just keep saying DJI lol. I don’t trust anyone’s opinion anymore since money is always the motive!
He gave the point to the Crane for better battery life....but you’re right, it probably runs out in 8 hours anyways. I for one, would much prefer the rechargeable battery over having to keep track of a bunch of small batteries and buy them constantly. He even said it’s a personal preference and that some prefer the Cranes battery method. Not sure how he was “ignorant”
And why is that? Again, I'm sure MANY people would prefer devices having a rechargeable battery. I don't want to have to think about buying batteries constantly. Being able to charge a Ronin from a powerbank or wall outlet sounds very nice to me. Buying batteries all the time would blow.
cyotheking Removable batteries are not disposable batteries. Why do you think cameras have removable batteries? So you can swap them and get more hours. Simple.
@@istrefmurtezaj6979 Hell yeah. I can do two full days of video on an EOS R+16-35mm lens. It's very stable and smooth, also super durable as it's fallen countless times. idk about the DJI, but you can swap out batteries directly so you never have the gimbal out of batteries.
@@jorgegarciarojas9010 Probably, although I've never used a t6i before. I've never used it and just looked at reviews, it doesn't have PDAF like the EOS R so I'm not sure how smooth/fast the focus will be, but weight and lens selections will be no problem.
The winner here is clearly the glidecam because is what he trust and uses. Im a glidecam hd2000 user and I just love how I just throw it in my trunk after every use and take whenever I need it. It is very reliable and good quality.
At the end...... Parker - "I recommend" - Me "getting a glidecam" Parker - "getting good" - Me "huh maybe he's not gonna say it!" Parker - "at the glidecam!" - Me "He said it! I knew it!" Had me fooled for a second though!
He does love the glidecam. Lol. I have a crane 2, thinking of getting the flycam king, or saving up for the ronin s as backup. Was convinced from his glidecam vs flycam video to get the flycam but now my mouth is watering for the ronin s. Argg... I am betting that you would probably tell me since I have one electronic gimbal to get the glidecam or flycam, something that is one less electronic that can take a beating... ?? :(
Sounds like it, but believe me it is far better. I've been using the Crane Plus recently and it just doesn't compare. Ronin S is the best on the market. Going to buy one soon
How dji sponsored the review if he is giving a discount code for the Crane 2. Would u sponsor someone that gives discount codes for their audience to buy your competitors merchandise? SMH
I have the dji osmo and have fun with it. I don't need either of these units, but Damn!!!! After watching your video I think I need the Dji Ronin now!!!!! Great job!!!!! 😎
I bought the Crane 2 a week ago and am fully satisfied. I have not tried out the gimbal of DJI yet, but hopefully I will have the opportunity soon to get a comparison of the two products. The only thing that bothers me is the menu control, otherwise really cool device and it is worth the money in any case. Btw: Very informative review, keep it up! :)
Great job my guy! I love the Ronin. I agree...have different stabilizers. I use the Steadicam suit, glidecam, shoulder rig, and gimbal. To be honest, I just use two hands most of the time.
Great review video. Thanks for sharing.I noticed a little continuity issue though: you started with Ronin-S on screen-right, you switched and ended the video with it on screen-left.Detailed in-depth review.Awesome!
Just the video I need ! Thanks again!
Nice review Parker. I've been telling people that the Ronin-S had some special motors, glad you proved it.

I am betting that you would probably tell me since I have one electronic gimbal to get the glidecam or flycam, something that is one less electronic that can take a beating... ?? :(
Parker i am your biggest fan from India.. Lots of love
Feels like a DJI sponsored review
Sounds like it, but believe me it is far better. I've been using the Crane Plus recently and it just doesn't compare. Ronin S is the best on the market. Going to buy one soon
How dji sponsored the review if he is giving a discount code for the Crane 2. Would u sponsor someone that gives discount codes for their audience to buy your competitors merchandise? SMH
@@fulltimefilmmaker There is nothing angered about my original comment. An observation.
Absolutely love your in-depth comparison videos. Extremely helpful and informative - in fact all of your content is. Thanks, Parker!
Crane 2 is difficult to setup and balance, usually taking hours of trial and error if it's even possible
Yea the ronin s is so much better
GREAT VIDEO! Your comparison video is amazing! Not only tell which one is better, but also shows us how to make amazing shots using this tool.
I see u handle dji better then u handle crane 2 😂
narasena absolutly true
Really impressive review. Someone went the extra mile to put the most relevant aspects into the review.
Ronin S or Ronin-M(x) ?
Louis T both (;
That’s what I’m wondering too, I kinda leaning to ronin m series
I have the dji osmo and have fun with it. I don't need either of these units, but Damn!!!! After watching your video I think I need the Dji Ronin now!!!!! Great job!!!!! 😎
Glidecam VS DJI Ronin S
Zoom accessories?
6:55 I was so waiting BOOM .... straight into the trees. Always look at your screen until you should not be looking at the screen. Well done.
Hi,
What would you buy when you want make travelmovie , but don't pay so much ( Zhiyun Crane 2 vs Zhiyun Crane v2)
Crane 2 is much better than crane v2.
"but if that one pound is a big difference for ya then you might want to consider the Crane 2"
Me: you might wanna consider the GYM...
Great video, just don´t know why you switching position of both gimbals. Little confusing to me.
American gimbals
Best review i ever seen on youtube, man. Perfect comparison. Thanks a lot!

I tried both but I preferred the Zhiyun very easy to use I love it.
Great job my guy! I love the Ronin. I agree...have different stabilizers. I use the Steadicam suit, glidecam, shoulder rig, and gimbal. To be honest, I just use two hands most of the time.
Wow....! You did the best comparison video... I didn’t seen in TH-cam ... Great job!💪
Great comparison. Thanks.
Great video my friend. I have been on the fence on which gimbal to get. This video was a huge help. Thanks!
Great review video. Thanks for sharing.I noticed a little continuity issue though: you started with Ronin-S on screen-right, you switched and ended the video with it on screen-left.Detailed in-depth review.Awesome!
on the Crane 2 you can also adjust the sensibility for follow movement.
Great review with all the needed information and more! Love the real-world tests the most! Thanks Parker!
I’ve been using the Ronin S and I think it’s stellar!! Wouldn’t trade it for anything else at this point.
