I'm a big fan of jazz... when I heard this song while I was watching the series I thought that this is a masterpiece... became one of my favourites! :3
This is a cue known as "Street Moods In Jazz", which was intended for use in many programs (portions of it occasionally turned up on "PERRY MASON")- the best known epsiodes this was used in were "The Fever" (particularly the scene where the slot machine intimidates "Franklin Gibbs" enough for him to fall out of his hotel window), and "The Chaser".
This song was also on the episode called The Prime Mover! The one were the guy can move objects with his brain ,They went to Vegas in that episode! Great song, especially👌👍 how it starts in the beginning!
I heard this used in a couple of Perry Mason episodes too. As well as other themes I heard in The Twilight Zone. And the Mason episodes were before Twilight Zone.
I'm not a jazz fan either, but I'll give you a hint as to some more really killer jazz on tv shows. Catch an episode of Honey West on youtube and as good as the opening theme is, play the tailend of one episode and hear the jazz at the ending credits - absolute killer. I'm not sure if they had lots of killer jazz on that show, but pieces of the ending theme were played during the show, particularly when they went to showing the opening episode title. I suspect that jazz is also a very central element to film noir, and with noir being so different in the first place, depending on jazz scores just redoubles the differentness. Here's an example of what I'm talking about, and you get to see Floyd the barber too: th-cam.com/video/in8HFPgt-oo/w-d-xo.html
I have always wanted to know the name of the music from the beginning of Where is Everybody? that Earl Holliman hear when he enters the diner and the jukebox is playing this mystery tune that I've always liked...even heard it in a Perry Mason episode. Who is it? What is it? Any brains out there know???

Yes, it's really good, and I say that coming from basically a non-jazz background. It's almost like the jazz is an additional taunt for the man.
Samezies 👽
We Gibbs know the value of money! *Goes batshit crazy on a slot machine*.

been looking for this for a min and finally found it🙏🙏
The opening sax riff is just classic…
A real masterpiece of jazz. Kind of takes me back in time to the pre-Beatnik days, and I'll bring along Kiki for the ride.
Ed Triana thank you! I’m so lucky to be part of the ride! Love you!
