- We're still in Cornwall, and have headed to Marazion as we are visiting St Michael's Mount.
I'm yet to have a pasty, and Google recommends Philps Pasties as one of the finest pasty bakers in all of Cornwall.
But they sell more than just pasties, so we grabbed a couple of sweet treats too !!

Cornwall is beautiful, I have a special fondness for Philps, so I am glad you enjoyed their food. When Mrs Greeno first said, the fudge flavours, I misheard and thought it was chocolate and sea salt which are a match made in heaven.
I'd never been to a Philps before, but I know one thing... next time I am in Cornwall I will be in a Philps again :-)

Well that all looked spot on. Looks like they have improved the low tide path since I was there, I remember walking over sand and around rock pools part of the way but that was over 20 years ago. The food looked great, odd that they don't advertise a traditional Cornish pasty and call it a steak pasty instead.
Well I suppose in Cornwall everything is a Cornish pasty ha ha! The path back was really good, I was concerned it might be a bit slippery as we crossed within about 10 minutes of it opening, but it was fine!
(23) Really nice trip; the food looked marvelous and the little trip to the castle was a real bonus. Bummer you seem to have a problem with being on the water; fortunately I have no problem with it whatsoever. Definitely deserves a "10". Thanks for the freebie tour, Mr. Greeno!!!

I have fond memories of collecting winkles at Michaels Mount when I was a little girl. We took them back to the campsite and cooked up a feast. Yikes that was over 40 years ago. Happy days. Those pasties look fab and a budding little gymnast to boot
Glad my little video helped bring back some happy memories for you 🙂 As for the gymnast she’s always at it, in fact I can see her in the back garden cartwheeling away right now. Which is great, apart from the fact I asked her to go for a bath 10 minutes ago ha ha!
We used to have a cornish pasties cafe in Cologne, it was lovely, they served pasties and scones, I loved it. Unfotunately, they closed due to covid 😢 I miss my pasties ❤ This video is so much fun!

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and so pleased to see you and your charming family enjoying yourselves in Marazion. Pasties taste so much nicer sitting outdoors with a sea view. I live about 40 minutes away in Newquay town centre with 8......yes.... 8 pasty shops within 400 yards of my front door. And, I still love them. Only problem is trying not to have one every day :-)
Blimey, 8 pasty shops nearby must be very tempting indeed ! We had a lovely time in Cornwall, visiting Eden Project, Trelissick, Marazion, Port Isaac and Padstow - fabulous. I live near the coast in Dorset - we are fortunate to live in places that most people only get to visit time to time!!

I used to go to Cornwall every year and always went to Philps in Hayle, best pastys ever. Even used to get mail orders from them.
I saw on their website that you can get a dozen pasties delivered - tempting!!
Looks absolutely perfect
We were very pleased with everything we got from theshop, and for less than £17 you can't go wrong (although the fudge cost about 7 quid as an extra!!)

Great review Greeno. Love pasties, so proper jealous. If you hadn't said you were in Cornwall, seeing the amphibious vehicle on bricks would have made me think you were in Liverpool.
Is that the yellow bus / boat thing they have in Liverpool - down Albert Dock or somewhere similar? I seem to remember seeing that last time I was in that neck of the woods. A good pasty is certainly hard to beat isn't it !!
Great channel Greeno, All looks brilliant - you can't beat a proper traditional pastie, that sausage roll looks great too - has to be a good sign when you see a constant flow of people enter a store gem like that :)
The pasties really were tasty. And at less than £17 for all we bought, we all felt well fed for about the same I paid for a bang average Ploughman’s recently!

Welcome to the channel - glad you enjoyed the collaboration with Gary enough to come and seek me out ! This was my first time in Cornwall for probably 10 years, but it's easy to see why people fall in love with it - some really spectacular places to visit certainly. Philps certainly didn't let me down - great produce at very reasonable prices!

Okay, you persuaded me! Swedes are just in season here, I've a nice piece of skirt steak in the freezer, always have potato and onion in the house . . . my shortcrust skills aren't too bad . . . so it'll be pasty time tomorrow! I'll probably make 6 so I can freeze some for another time! I don't dare use the official name as it isn't Cornwall here and I'm a Devonian by birth! They'll just be pasty's!!! I love St Michaels Mount - so glad you made the trip over. The bakery goods looked wonderful!
You’re originally from Devon huh, so I guess you have strong feelings on the cream tea debate then? Cream first, then jam in Devon isn’t it 🙂 Good idea making some homemade pasties, and making extra for another time sounds great!
@@GreenoEats The Devon way makes sense to me - if you are making a sandwich, you apply butter before jam, so for the scone (where NO butter is used) you layer the cream (instead, but it's still dairy) then the jam! The jam doesn't cause the cream to slide off!
However, I am not a stickler and as long as whoever is eating is enjoying their cream tea, I'm happy! My Grandparents came from Combepyne, near Rousdon, along the coast road from Lyme to Seaton. I was born and raised in Honiton.

We had a great time in Cornwall, so many varied, interesting little places to visit! Little’un does indeed do gymnastics, she’d cartwheel and flip everywhere if she could! My last video (from the Eden Project) was all veggie and vegan - did you catch that one?
Greeno,I'm old enough to remember the good old days (?🤔) Back when you only had a small range of treats to pick from. Crisps were Smiths & they were plain. Ice Cream. Vanilla, Chocolate, strawberry. Sausages from Walls and were pork. Two channels on the telly. And a Cornish Pasty was. Skirt beef, swede, potatoes & onion. Old - Fashioned tasty. Up to the present, I feel seasick crossing a bridge 🤢🤮🥵. Thought the sausage roll was a tadge flat🤨Now the Chicken Turnover, looks like a well filled, fist filler. OK, the real deal a proper Tiddy👍👌Grand size, crispy pastry and stuffed fuller than a police woman's handbag!! A superb location, brilliant scenery. Overall the cost about right for the tourist trade. As for the energy levels of the young, don't think I was ever that lively 🏃Have enjoyed this video. Allan&Family PS as a foodie vloger you really should invest in the " Eating Irons Kit👍"

That's brilliant :-) I am also of a certain vintage when times were perhaps simpler... although I think we always had salt & vinegar and cheese & onion Smiths crisps when I was little! You forgot to mention about the ice cream though, the blocks of "neopolitan" - 3 stripes of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, of the most artificial variety!!

Those looked delicious! And such a lovely place to enjoy eating them, despite the wind and that prehistoric-sized seagulls circling overhead. We have a pasty restaurant here in the desert but that's the only place I've found here that sells them. They're alright, but nothing like what I saw you enjoying there in Cornwall. Consider me jealous!
We had a seagull land on our table as I put the food out to film it, but it certainly wasn't gonna be nicking my pasty 🙂

I'm from Cornwall. The best pasties are from gear farm near the lizard. Apparently they are amazing.

I love a good pasty, the pastry sounded lovely and crunching, well filled and the sausage roll looked lovely with plenty of sausage meat and again, crunchy pastry 😋
We have two shops in York called the Cornish Pasty Co, beautiful pasties and around the same price that you paid!

They were certainly tasty and very well made. Glad you have the option all the way up in York to get a pasty that's not a complete shambles (see what I did there ;-) ha ha)

Yeah, poor Mrs Greeno had to let both of us give it a try - but at least she got some of the cake (and the bonus fudge haha) - We had a great break - sure it was busy being half term, but not so busy that we got annoyed with it.

It certainly looked like a fantastic family day trip out in Cornwall Greeno... Funnily enough... I've had Cornish Pasties for my evening meal tonight... Although they probably weren't as nice as the ones you had here from Philps pal... As mine were the Asda pack of four Cornish Pasties for £2.50... 😂 Although the best Pasties I've ever seen... Were the ones from The Ginger Pig in London's Borough Market... I'm sure that some might disagree... But Darren John and his son visited here about a year ago... The Pasty is at timestamp 6:06... I've been to the Ginger Pig a couple of times myself now - in fact it was an earlier Darren John video that alerted me to it. What did you have with your pasty for dinner tonight? I like mine with chips, but also sometimes just with a salad, that actually works quite well :-)

Vegetables & Gravy... Or some McCain Home Fry Chips & Baked Beans... 😋 But i wasn't all that hungry today... So i just put a couple of Cornish Pasties in the Air Fryer for 15 minutes at 160°C instead... 👍 It was nice to see Gaz (Bald Foodie Guy) in the comments section too Greeno... All the best mate... I've been to Mont St Michel in France maybe half a dozen times, but this was the first time I have been to the English equivalent! An interesting place with great views in every direction. And a delicious picnic style lunch too - what's not to like!
Whilst probably not the most traditional but Barnecutt’s for me every time.
Barnecutts are more in the East side of Cornwall I think right? Not tried them, good are they ?
@@GreenoEats for sure. They are quite ubiquitous so think lots of places do them…even the Spar shops that have a hot cabinet. I’m sure most die hards would say they are just Grockle bait but I really like them.

Hi Greeno, first time commenting here but its nice to see you down in my neck of the woods, i only live a mile away from Marazion, if i knew you were there i would have joined you for a pint ! 😅 Good choice with Philps , they really are delicious and the only commercial ones i eat these days. Avoid Rowes and Warren's pasties if you see them, they aren't what they use to be. You should check out Gears Farm pasties between Helston and the Lizard, supposedly the best in Cornwall according to local knowledge, although I haven't tried them myself, but they're organic and have a café on site selling homemade produce. Anyways enjoy the rest of your stay down here with your lovely family, Cheers for now, Mike. 👍
I live in Dorset, we’re both lucky to live in places that most people want to visit 🙂 I had some Rowes pasties recently from a local Tesco, and while I enjoyed them, they weren’t a patch on these Philps ones! I have heard of the Gear Farm ones, but we just weren’t passing that way, maybe next time!
Everything looked first class you can’t beat a good pie or pasty in my opinion
An old pal of mine used to swear by the adage that there’s very little that can’t be improved by encasing it in pastry 🙂

I knew Lillte'un was gonna wolf down that whole iced bun, so can't let her have all the sausage roll can I ha ha! This was definitely one of the best pasties I have ever had - lovely crispy pastry and a really delicious filling. And pretty reasonable price-wise too. The 3 of us felt well fed for less than £17 all in !

Definitely give Philps a try. Unfortunately wasn't close enough to Gear Farm at any point in our trip to call in.

We don't see Pasties very often where I live in Sydney, but it's great when you can get a good, freshly made one. The ones you had looked great & good value too. Your location there is stunning!! I've visited the UK several times, but have not been to Cornwall.
A proper Cornish pasty is a delight, so much better than the ones we get in the supermarket here. And you're right, what a stunning location to enjoy one 🙂

Puff pastry is far better than the stogy short crust pastry that most Cornish pasties are made with. Now if they would add a bit of gravy it would be tops

my wife and i have holidayed in Cornwall on many occasion and I've yet
to find a decent pasty , they're all dry and tasteless but your's looked good
I think some pasties can be dry, as there's not that much moisture in the filling is there - just whatever the uncooked veg releases as it cooks. This filling was lovely and moist though, really tasty. Maybe give Philps a try on your next Cornwall trip ?

Yeah, I find the shop bought ones have a pasty flavour sludge in them, whereas with this you could get the texture and flavour of the veggies. Really good 🙂

Pasties looked very average if I'm totally honest but if they were your first ever taste I perfectly understand why you liked them , because it was something different.
St Michaels Mount is stunning and remember walking there over the causeway back in the 70's 👍
Definitely got no sea legs - I am hopeless on the sea. I thought the steak pasty was great - but you think there are better elsewhere? Let me know what places I should be hitting next time I am in that part of the world :-)
