@@GreenoEatsYou hit the nail on the head there. Swedish school dinners. Also came to find your vlogs via your collaboration with Gary. Daim cake and bars are great - and gluten free. Thanks for reminding me about the screaming children in IKEA.
Pretty much a good all round review of the food they serve at Ikea. Cheap no thrills food. It has got it's reputatio for it's price rather than the quality. Thought the fish looked a bit odd, not really appealing visually. Most people say that he hotdogs are worth a try as they are dirt cheap. Hate to think what they put in them. I've eaten there, meaning IKEA, once before and thought is was OK. I haven't rushed back! The queues for the food have put me off.
Hi George - this is now the fifth time you have asked for this - as I already advised, when I get to Iceland I will pick some up. I just haven't been there yet!
Hmmmm didn’t look the best Greeno…. I liked the look of the Dime Cake though! Often wanted to try the Meatballs from the IKEA in Wednesbury but never did. The channel is rocketing mate 🚀….Smithy
Yeah, reminded me of school dinners mate. I mean, better school dinners than we had in my school, but school dinners nonetheless! The Daim cake and the meatballs are a classic, but even they didn't save the overall experience (plus I had to spend an afternoon in Ikea to boot !
I’ve had to buy a lot of furniture in my life but at no point have I ever felt the need to go to IKEA. Maybe if I wanted to decorate my house like student accommodation it would be a consideration though. It looks like hell on earth to me
Agreed, not somewhere I enjoy visiting! We’ve picked up a few bits over the years, mostly for the kids rooms where whatever you get is gonna get wrecked in next to no time anyway!
I agree that tartare sauce is great, but it just doesn't work with salmon in my opinion! I have featured some vegetarian options on my channel - onion bhaji burgers and a b=vegetable curry that I made spring to mind, but I will try to cover some more of that on my travels too :-)
@@GreenoEats I don’t eat fish to be honest, the smell of fish makes my stomach turn but tartare goes with lots of things! Not just fish but everyone I know who has cod and chips swear by a side of it! I’m amazed your daughter didn’t like it, it’s not too dissimilar to mayo and gherkin on a Big Mac! If you ever swing by ikea again, would be interested to know how the meat free meatballs compare to the meat meatballs. Same goes with their meat and meat free hotdogs! Great channel, great content sir!
@@GreenoEats thanks for the heads up! I’m not veggie by choice, I don’t naturally make the enzymes needed to handle meat and I am allergic to synthetic enzymes. I know they do a veggie range of their meat range but really not found a decent and honest review! I know it’s not meat and it’s never going to be meat but a good vegetarian food is good in its own right and if you can get a vegetarian food wrong, give up and go home lol!
Never eaten in the place and based on this review. I never will. Costco’s food would be far better, not sure if you have one nearby? But Edinburgh they are next to each other. Would be a no brainer for the Costco hot dog. Apologies if you’re reviewed Costco.. I’ve no followed from the beginning so maybe have missed some.
@@GreenoEatsyou do unfortunately. That’s a pity as their hotdog is £1.50 and it’s 100% beef. And a few other menu items that are fairly decent for the price. Save a lot of money using their fuel as well. I don’t pay for the membership but I do get all the perks 😊
Hi Greeno, the mash potato may be powered mash, but powered mash is just 96% - 98% dehydrated potato, so yes it is real potato, you might want to do some fact checking when you are editing, otherwise you may find yourself in court.....just a point, and I agree the fish didn't look great.

Absolutely brilliant review ..... I was expecting nothing more than Death by Meatball. Right ..... thank God you didn't order the vegetarian balls - suitable only for firing from a musket at your enemies. Yep, it's basically as crap as I remember it ..... the starter looked reasonably good, the fish and chips looked like they'd had the colour and taste sucked out of them, the meatballs I reckon are actually tasty but I find the gravy is effectively like an oil slick and the jam is curiously appalling. Your wife's sweet looked boring whereas I felt a slight tinge (and I mean very slight tinge) of excitement with your sweet. Price was good .... but the meal was nothing to get titillated about.
I think the battered fish has been bought in frozen, ready pre cooked and then reheated in-store, looks like a Boxed farm foods battered fish... First impression is very unappetising and pale, insiped looking .... None of their food will be home-made, it will be all home-cooked ... 5/10 for me 😊
Absolutely hate Ikea. Walking around there is a nightmare, and at the end I've never bought ANYTHING. The idea of walking around there on a bank holiday makes me shudder. The only things I've known people to buy are those cube shelving units and those cheap coffee tables.
@@GreenoEats my wife LOVES it there. She raves about the meatballs and hotdogs (very average to me) I do like the dime cake though it's sickly. An afternoon walking around those fake room setups, looking at things with weird names that we'll never use, only to leave with IKEA branded sandwich bags, facecloths, a desk lamp or other little bits isn't fun to me. Then there's the fun of getting out of the car park. Now CEX, Cash Converters/Generator, Screwfix, Game, Curry's, or charity shops, now those are the shops I like. Walking through an aspirational maze in a warehouse, it's like a shit version of The Crystal Maze, you go through Living Room Zone, Garden Zone, Bedroom Zone, Office Zone, Bathroom Zone, Kids Zone, Lighting Zone, to end up in the Cafe/Restaurant (the shit Crystal Dome, plus the tills where money is exchanged for items with names that sound like 1970s Dr Who villains) where the ONLY prizes on offer are weight gain or diabetes, not even a keepsake Crystal with "I cracked walking around IKEA" or a T Shirt with "I survived IKEA and all I got was this lousy T Shirt",
I had the Swedish National Dish in IKEA of köttbullar( pork and beef meatballs) mashed potatoes, gravy and lingonberries jam. Not as good as those I had in Sweden. The Daim Bar dessert is epic. I wouldn't touch their fish and chips.
Oh no not IKEA. Takes 4 hrs to get out. Never again..I had a nice chicken dinner there once in the Essex IKEA. After many years, have only just heard about meat balls which does not turn me on. We never use IKEA as it's not easy for the wife with her problems. Electric chair a waste of time as always so packed, it restricts movement. Your fish and chips sounds like the same we had from a fish and chip shop. Under fried. Fish was bland, no flavour. Chips were also under done. A bit hard. Where does one get good fish and chips 3 bad experiences in a row. Best was Trago mills take away by MerthyrTydfil, that was good.. So it's back to Trago Mills. Thanks for your review. Our nearest one is Cardiff, but it's banned by my wife. It's a Maze like Hampton Court.
I used to live in Caerphilly, so have experienced the horror of Cardiff IKEA too 😂 It's a most unpleasant shop in my opinion. One way rabbit warren of stuff that's a pain to build!!
Good grief! Sorry, Greeno, I am just not a fan of these places at all! They rely purely on a captive audience i.e. their shoppers needing something to eat whilst shopping; but £30 for that? WOW! No thank you. The only 2 palatable items there were the gravlax but even that was missing some well needed bread and the Daim Bar cake, but you can get that in the deep freeze of most supermarkets. I hate being so negative, but I just would not entertain these places, I would rather do my shopping and find a McDonald's drive-thru on the way home. The only "when in Rome" item there were the meatballs but I doubt they were truly authentic. Thumbs up to the video as always, but thumbs down for the food.
why not take them to where Your friend has just been your at one side and he is at the other side of the price scale. but you may have had a better meal than him how dare you eat the childs dime pudding heheheeh even on screen the fish looks weird. and dry.

It's DAIME Bar....c'mon Greeno! Lol. That fish looked scary but meatballs anyday! Is what it is!
Like a school canteen really!
A man after my own heart....hates cinnamon
Why do people want their dessert to taste of medicine? Just weird.
Fills a hole I suppose never been, now I don’t really want to, good content👍
Thanks for your kind comment! Yeah, that's exactly what it did, filled a hole. Real school dinner vibes all round!
@@GreenoEatsYou hit the nail on the head there. Swedish school
dinners. Also came to find your vlogs via your collaboration with Gary. Daim cake and bars are great - and gluten free. Thanks for reminding me about the screaming children in IKEA.
Nice review. Meatballs looked nice . Fortunately my wife leaves me at home when she goes to those places.( Phew lol) Looking forward to seeing more
Thanks for your kind words - and yeah, I think I got the best of the meals!
Gravlachs (cured salmon) shouldn't be smoked anyway.
Yep, so I now understand, just cured 😂
It never is
Pretty much a good all round review of the food they serve at Ikea.
Definitely got school canteen vibes. Not tried the hotdogs, but they are even cheaper than the £1 burger, frightening!
The cinnamon bun might be salvageable with some butter on it.
Perhaps, although from my point of view it should never have been made in the first place 😂
Please review TGI fridays Nashville Style Chicken Wings 600g from Iceland
Hi George - this is now the fifth time you have asked for this - as I already advised, when I get to Iceland I will pick some up. I just haven't been there yet!
Haha, I told my ex that very branch was a "palace of hell". 🤣
And you were right!
When you asked for the fish and chips u should of said yes peas?!
I cod have done that yes 🙂
@@GreenoEats Hope you haven't haddock enough of my comedy?!
Greeno you love your food.😮What's your first name?👍
Don't have one, I'm like Prince or Bono haha!!
@@GreenoEats From now on greeno I'm going to call you papan.Because you don't have a christian name and you look like a viking.👹
I hate Ikea too. Had to endure it once. Never again...
It's shocking isn't it !
In Switzerland IKEA was/is a great place for getting good value food
I’ve had to buy a lot of furniture in my life but at no point have I ever felt the need to go to IKEA. Maybe if I wanted to decorate my house like student accommodation it would be a consideration though. It looks like hell on earth to me
Agreed, not somewhere I enjoy visiting! We’ve picked up a few bits over the years, mostly for the kids rooms where whatever you get is gonna get wrecked in next to no time anyway!
@@GreenoEats I tend to go to the big charity outlets for that tbh. Way better quality stuff than theirs for 1/4 of the price
@@PotatoPirate123 that’s a good point!
IKEA eh? Self assembling the menu.
Given the usual IKEA model, I am surprised they don't give you the ingredients and expect you to cook it yourself 😂
That’s the only time I go to Ikea is to buy the frozen meatballs and the sauce I can’t stand it in there
I reckon that if I ended up in an episode of "The Good Place" it might have had me stuck in an Ikea store!
@@GreenoEats 😂
Tartare sauce is lovely!
Hope you can do some vegetarian options at some point!
@@SamM-oh2cx I have heard that the Ikea veggie options don't stand up well to the non-veggie ones, so it sounds like they should be avoided ha ha!
Gravlax is not smoked at all.
Yeah, just cured I realised afterwards !
Never been to Costco, don’t you have to pay for a membership to go there? My nearest one is over an hour away in Southampton so not sure I’ll bother 🙂
Tartar sauce with salmon is a Swedish thing, but you are in a Swedish restaurant 👍
Is it - well that explains it then ha ha! Still a weird flavour combination I think 🙃
People who eat fish and chips have good soles!
They end up in a good plaice then 🙂
@@GreenoEats U batter believe it!
Hi Greeno, the mash potato may be powered mash, but powered mash is just 96% - 98% dehydrated potato, so yes it is real potato, you might want to do some fact checking when you are editing, otherwise you may find yourself in court.....just a point, and I agree the fish didn't look great.
That's a fair point re the potato, although I reckon I could argue my point I doubt I could match Ikea's legal team :-)
About 7 of 10 overall and hope that all enjoyed.
Little'un enjoyed the fish and chips, and I liked the meatballs. Wasn't the greatest, but we did eat it all!
Stingy mash portion there, can't be that expensive for them to give you a bit more!
But I didn't even finish the portion they gave me, it was very poor !
@@GreenoEats shame, the meatballs and mash are normally good
@@Sc25515 The meatballs were absolutely fine - the mash was like an instant mash, not good at all
@@GreenoEats yeah. Smash is awful!
Hey Greeno I just heard about u through Gary Eats. Do you make as many videos as Gar?
Hi Jason, welcome to the channel. Gary slightly pips me in terms of videos released. I publish every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. He is every other day. So essentially he’s doing 7 videos a fortnight to my 6.
@@GreenoEats do you travel all around the UK?

Glorified school dinners really wasn't it. I think I ended up slightly better off with my choice, but Little'un said she enjoyed the fish and chips!
I think the battered fish has been bought in frozen, ready pre cooked and then reheated in-store, looks like a Boxed farm foods battered fish...
First impression is very unappetising and pale, insiped looking ....
None of their food will be home-made, it will be all home-cooked ...
5/10 for me 😊
I think that's a fair score!
@@GreenoEats a 5 for effort ☺️🙃
Onion rings at restos are usually a disappointment.
💯 agree
Think ikea fish is breaded rather than battered. Hope you got a hot dog on the way out. Do like the meatballs.
Couldn't get a hot dog, was too busy trying to navigate with the trolley full of stuff Mrs Greeno wanted... and that I then had to build the next day!
Absolutely hate Ikea. Walking around there is a nightmare, and at the end I've never bought ANYTHING. The idea of walking around there on a bank holiday makes me shudder. The only things I've known people to buy are those cube shelving units and those cheap coffee tables.
Agree, it's definitely some kind of purgatory!
Little un needs to be taught how to use and knife and fork and eat properly.

I am sure her Swiss finishing school will take note!
You need a refund from that school
@@totalfc6456 exactly what I thought
@@avenuearmoury u are a genuine moron

Yep, seemed to me that nothing is cookedin the kitchen, just reheated. Disappointing
None of it looked very good to me , cheap enough though ....
Yeah, it was far from great. School dinner style really.
You know the strange thing... this IKEA is next to a shopping mall, and people were walking across from the mall just to have lunch in Ikea !!!
why not take them to where Your friend has just been your at one side and he is at the other side of the price scale.
but you may have had a better meal than him
how dare you eat the childs dime pudding heheheeh
even on screen the fish looks weird. and dry.
Mrs Greeno doesn't like lobster or oysters - so even if it was good it would be wasted :-) I feel for Gary having spent all that money on a disappointing lunch though!
