In today's video, I give a brief introduction and overview of Carveco Maker. Carveco Maker (formerly ArtCAM) is a fantastic software package that makes CNC work simple and enjoyable. In the video, I show you an example which we later machine on my DIY CNC build. I demonstrate both the 2D and 3D workspaces of Carveco along with the toolpath simulator. I then move over to the machine to give you a brief update and demonstrate how I set up my machine for engraving 3D reliefs. At the very end of the video, I show you the final result along with some other pieces I have made over the past couple of weeks.

Nicely done. I appreciate seeing the whole process, as you’ve shown. For people getting started, often it is the little things, like getting the proper collet into the collet nut, that are important to learn. I’m pretty new at this myself, but I’ve started to use the work surface as Z0, so that if you remove material from the top, you can still find proper Z after changing tools, etc. I would love to see a detailed walkthrough of a double-sided job, and how you can ensure you are getting X, Z, and Z set properly for the second operation.

I understand you may not be a subject matter expert, but - how big is the difference between generating tool paths for such a project on Carveco and Fusion360 regarding the quality of the finished product? P.S. Cool video as always

From my experience so far the results are very similar. Gcode is gcode after all. However, Carveco makes working with complex models so much easier, so for that reason I personally prefer it. I will keep this question in mind as I do more work on Fusion 360, I may even make a video about it 👍🏻

Nice work! Well explained, as always. I would love to see you compare Carveco to Vectric VcarvePro or Aspire. I am trying to understand their relative merits.

    Falando em usinar aluminio
Veja o ciidado de não entrar fragmentos dentrobda castanha do fuso

Yes the machine will need some minor modifications before I can machine aluminium. Mostly just an air hose to get rid of chips, and a way to stop the chips flying everywhere!
